    Fixed.

The problem was those playlists both have leading spaces (annoyingly, and likely an accident) in Flashpoint. This isn't allowed for filenames on Windows, and so what would happen is that my tool was configured to save the name with the space, but the OS would automatically remove it. Then later when it checks for existing playlists it makes the comparison expecting the space to be there, because it knows nothing about the removal, and so it doesn't see it as the same given the small, but significant difference. I changed my filename handling so that it considers filenames with leading/trailing spaces to be invalid and therefore accounts for their removal during comparison (as well as removing them itself when saving the playlists for the first time).

I also got lucky and happened to discover a bug that can cause a crash if you input the wrong Flashpoint folder so that was a nice catch to fix.

To be a little less lazy, and not flood my repo with slightly different releases, try this one out before I christen it officially: https://www.mediafire.com/file/7nfh203dgwg21ec/OFILb_0.4.1.3_test.zip/file

Also for the favorite playlist, make sure you actually have favorites set within Flashpoint or else it won't import anything regardless XD.

Hey, yeah I also noticed the space in the beginning of both playlists later on.

I've just tried your updated importer. It works for the Super Hall of Fame Playlist now. The "Favorites" playlist still isn't imported. Now if I understood you correctly, it only imports if I manually add a game, is that right?

EDIT: Just tried it. The Favorites Playlist import works if I manually add a game in Flashpoint 😃

    EDIT:

seems like the second playlist is causing some problems as well. I will try to figure out if the problem is on my end:

    EDIT 2:

    Did some quick Testing.

I see this behavior on a fresh Launchbox install as well. here is what happens.

    1. I Import everything and after the import is finished, the playlist "Favorites" remains white and is not imported.

    2. After Launching Launchbox once and closing it, when I restart your plugin and select the Launchbox Path, the Playlist "Flashpoint Super Hall of Fame" is  shown in white, even though it's present in Launchbox. Also, no "Flashpoint Super Hall of Fame.obk" file is created in the Data folder after reimporting. .obk files are pesent for all the other playlists.

    Hope this helps =).

    OK, I'm done.

It seems to have worked. I'm not getting the error anymore.

However, the Plugin did not import the first playlist called "Favorites". I tried importing it twice, but it just remains white in the Solution screen and is not being created by Launchbox.

    Alright, give it a roll.

Wow you are fast, man. Thank you for updating so quickly!!!

    Regarding your post above:

    1. You were correct that I didn't have the latest update patch. I downloaded the pack recently from arviche.org and it seems the patch isn't included there either.

    2. That said, applying the patch did not fix the warning your plugin gave me. It is however fixed with the new version you just uploaded, so I guess it really was the checksum issue, since I downloaded Ultimate, not Infinity.

I'm running a new import right now. Will get back to you after some testing 😃

Yea, that is roughly what I was planning on doing (though nice call on the "and others"), but I decided to just make the whole thing a Custom Field. My concerns about it from the past only were an issue with a much older version of the code base and don't really pose a problem (other than a little bit for a future idea I have, but whatver I'll cross that bridge then) currently.

Haven't had much time to do it but it will work and is partially complete.

Sounds great. Can't wait to try it out.

By the way, I do still get that weird message from your plugin telling me that my Flashpoint Ultimate Version is not 10.1, even though I downloaded the complete package and unpacked it correctly. I did rename the Folder it's stored in, though. Do you get the same messagte?

This is my ideal plan, but it's a tad annoying because if I remember correctly Custom Fields are stored in a separate file and are not part of the platform XML itself. In the end it's not a huge deal but it does require a little more work, though I glanced at using them before and thought I remembered another reason I decided to avoid using them, which is why I was mentioning just truncating the field.

Either way I'll check them first before resorting to just cutting the field off.

    Well,

you could have the language field display like this for more than one language:

    en, et.al.

or if you want to leave more languages in:

    en; fr; sp, et.al.

You could stell leave the complete region info in the custom fields.

  7. Hey everyone,

I have a 1G1R collection and wanted to try a Launchbox setup with all regions and revisions combined. What I found was is that Launchbox sometimes prioritizes the wrong roms. For Example for Donkey Kong County 1 on SNES, there is a rev 2 and a rev 1 Version. Launchbox should prioritize the newest version (rev 2), but the default rom is rev 1. The same happens with different games with more than one revision.

Will Launchbox ever be able to correctly prioritize the newest revisions of roms? Otherwise importing different Versions of roms is a bit bothersome, since one would have to manually set the newest revision als the default rom.

  8. Hey @oblivioncth, I get this weird error and Launchbox crashes when I click on the "Flash" platform and on any random game:

    Any Idea what this is?

    Launchbox Error.jpg

EDIT: Did some testing: This happens with a new Launchbox install as well, so it's not due to my configuration. This didn't happen with Flashpoint 10.0. It happens with the new Version 10.1.

I did get a warning before importing Flashpoint, but I doubt it has anything to do with it (besides, I think the warning is wrong, because I redownloaded the whole Flashpoint 10.1 collection from their homepage, so I'm 100% sure I have 10.1)

    Flashpoint Warning.jpg

I think the path might be too long (even though I disabled path length limitation in Windows). The folder names are caused by the regions of the games I believe. A fix might be to disable populating the Flashpoints region metadata in Launchbox.

EDIT 2: I'm now fairly certain that the Path Length is the problem. I don't know why this is happening, since I've enabled long paths in Windows 11, but somehow the path length is still restricted:
    Paths.thumb.jpg.05900b929a3ee2e605c0ebeab5b55dcc.jpg

Anyway, I can't be the only one with this problem. And having folders like this "en; es; zh; fr; nl; ko; ru; pl; de; pt; it; da; ja; tr" and longer is kind of pointless in my opinion.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

  9. Thanks so much for your great insights. I guess I'll safe up for the 8-bay NAS. It's currently too expensive for me, but I'll get there eventually.

One more thing. I don't want to run anything in RAID mode and I also don't want to run the NAS 24/7. What I want is to be able to switch it on and off whenever I need it. If I go on vacation, I'll switch it on, so I can access it from wherever I am. I have plenty of spare drives that I can use for backup, so I don't need an automatic backup system and I don't want to deal with an automatic rebuild system. That sounds like it's gonna fail and introduces errors.
If something gets lost forever, I guess I'll just have to redownload it.

  10. Hey everyone,

I'm a total noob when it comes to NAS Servers and I haven't been able to understand if what I'm trying to achieve is possible with a NSA server.

So here is what I would like to do:

    1. I want to have a Server that stores all my roms and can be accessed from anywhere online at all times.

    2. I want to run Launchbox and emulators locally from a device (Tablet, Phone, Laptop, Desktop) but access the roms from the NAS

    3. I don't want to deal with performance slowdowns due to the roms being stored on the NAS.

Can I achieve this with a NAS Server? If so, which NAS server would you recommend?

    Thanks for helping 😃

Why do you care if he has added systems that don't work ? 🤣

FYI, PS4 can use the PC versions of the games to play them and there are literally 100's as I have this setup myself.

Also, a couple of Jaguar CD games also work.

Well, why do any of us care about anything? =P

PC versions of PS4 games are PC versions and not PS4 games. If versions don't matter then you could also just add the Genesis version of Street Fighter 2 to your SNES platform.

How can I get Jaguar CD games working? I have tried the retroarch core as well as mame/mess. I couldn't get any of the working.

MESS was merged with MAME a while back and since then it has continued to get many updates to the apple2 subsystem. It's support for various peripherals is quite extensive. I use it exclusively for my Apple2e and Apple2gs emulation.

AppleWin is also an option. Try both and see which you prefer. Some people don't like MAME and find it difficult. I don't and it works great in LB for me.

A good write up is here.

Last I tried (over a year ago), Apple IIGS had controller deadzone issues with the curser automatically moving in games like Gauntlet for example. Have those issues been fixed yet?

Seconding this, native Linux Launchbox would be awesome.

I understand Steam Deck could have Windows installed instead, but honestly I only tolerate Windows at this point, rather than actively aim to use it. Not to mention that if Valve manage to get their instant Suspend/Resume feature working, that's nigh guaranteed to be exclusive to SteamOS.

Suspend/Resume is a game changer. It's what makes the Switch so convenient. I can just start it and play 5 min on the bus and then put it back in my bag when I need to get out. If I had to boot --> load the game --> load the save, the Steam Deck would lose a whole lot of its appeal.

  14. Hey everyone,

I have a weird and very specific problem that I can't seem to fix.

I wanted to use real N64 Controllers with a real Rumble Pak in Retroarch Mupen Plus Next Core. I bought this n64 to usb adapter twice, so I can connect 4 n64 controllers: https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/dual_n64_to_usb_adapter/index.php

I tested everything with the raphnet configuration software and rumble does indeed work fine. The first problem I encountered is that these are DInput controllers and Retroarch does not support rumble with Dinput. So what I did was downloading the XOutput software (https://github.com/csutorasa/XOutput) which turns the DInput into XInput controllers. I tested everything and again rumble works fine.

Now when I go ingame (Super Smash Bros, for example) rumble works on all controllers except for the controller that Retroarch maps as Player 1. There is still a tiny amount of rumble, but not at all like on the other controllers. When I map the non working controller to a different port (player 2, 3, 4), rumble works perfectly. So it's not the controller that is broken or the rumble Pak or one of the adapters. It seems to be a software issue.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
