I've tried adding some games of Bandai Super Vision 8000 to the database, and everything went well. Some games are pending validation, but those that have already been validated, have all the information added. In Launchbox, I had the platform already created with the games. When I updated the games information, those that have data in the database were updated. I have also tried deleting the platform and creating it again. and everything has gone well too. My only problem is that I deleted the icon by mistake and now I can't find a way to get it back π I hope this information is helpful to you. And thank you very much for adding this new platform. It's a joy to be able to have more games with all their information and well organized!!! πππ

Hi!! I have a question that arose when I was reorganizing the MAME games. Are slots machines considered games to add to the Arcade database? My opinion is that they shouldn't be, and if they have to be added, they should have an independent platform like Pinball games, but that's only my opinion.

A small doubt about the Region field. Is it the region of the ROM or is it another type of region? Because when I search a game again to update the information, the Region field changes without change the ROM. For example: Chibi-Robot for GameCube. This is the information after importing the game. The Region is Europe (I think is the Region of the ROM) I click on the ID field to search it again: And the region changes to "North America".

In case it helps, the alternative I found was to use the "Steam Poster", "GOG Poster", "Amazon Poster" and other folders Launchbox create automatically to group other types of box arts. For example, I always use the "Steam Cover" folder to add the clean covers of all platforms (without company logos or "stickers" like Players choice that you mention).

Hi. With beta 4, in playlists ordered by series, the games with text in "series" field don't show icons for achievement, savestate or savegames. When you select a game with that data, the icons appears. I think some of the previous betas didn't cause this tiny problem. By the way, thanks for the changes in GOG import. It greatly simplifies the work for those of us who are users of this store.

Help Us Expand the LaunchBox Games Database!

Great idea. My suggestions: Mobile Games: I start by breaking the rules you mention, proposing a platform that groups together mobile games that aren't Android or iPhone. It could include J2ME, Brew, Symbian OS, Palm OS, Blackberry OS, Web OS, Ex-En and others. The reasons: - The large number of mobile games that are not Android or iPhone. "Colin McRae Rally 2005", "Doom RPG", "Far Cry 2", "Rayman Kart", "Tomb Raider: The Osiris Codex", "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - Legend" or "Asphalt: Urban GT" are some relevant games. - The large number that it works with these systems. Only for J2ME, Moby games includes more games than Game Boy Advance, Sega Saturn, Mega Drive or Xbox (and many titles are not added): https://www.mobygames.com/platform/?sort=games&order=desc - There are numerous emulators that allow to play them and a great job is being done to preserve the games. For example the "Kahvibreak" project has more than 5.000 J2ME games working. - The historical importance of pre-smartphone games, to create the most important video game market today (although many of us don't like it). "Snake" popularized mobile games and paved the way, as did Pong, Colossal Cave Adventure, Space Invaders or Pac-man at the time. - The alternative would be to create a platform for each OS, which I don't see as bad either. But it would be necessary to accommodate the "J2ME" and "BREW" somewhere, because they aren't a really operating system. Dedicated handheld: There are numerous dedicated handhelds like the Game& Watch that aren't from Nintendo. The most important are the "Tiger LCD handled", but there are many more from other smaller manufacturers, and I think it would be better to group them into a single platform. According to MobyGames, there are more than 750 games (although Game&Watch are also included), and obviously, they are not available for other platforms. In addition, many of these games are included in MAME collections, and they are doing a good job of emulating them. Bandai Super Vision 8000 Bandai Super Vision 8000 (also known as the TV Jack 8000) is a second generation console, released by Bandai in 1979. It was the first Japanese console that allowed interchangeable cartridges, but its price and the few games it had (only 7) made it fail. The games work in MAME and it's one of the two more or less relevant consoles that would be missing from this second generation. Epoch Cassette Vision The other relvant console from the second generation. Console developed by Epoch in 1981, it was the best-selling console in Japan until the arrival of the NES. It had 12 games that are dumped, but I think they haven't work on MAME yet. Milton Bradley Microvision The first handheld wich uses interchangeable cartridges. Relased in 1973 by Milton Bradley, have 12 games that work in MAME. Bit Corporation Gamate It's a handheld game console released in 1990 by Bit Corporation, in Australia, some parts of Europe, Taiwan, China, Argentina, and USA. It was a Game Boy competitor like Supervision or MegaDuck, and have 71 games that work in MAME. Hartung Game Master Other handheld released by Hartung in 1990 in Germany. It have different names: Systema 2000 (UK), Game Tronic, Mega Tronic and Super Game (France) and Prodis PDJ-10 (Spain). It have 19 games, not very good, but worked in MAME too. Tiger Gizmondo Another handheld, more known it than the previous ones. Developed by Tiger and released in 2006, it was a sales failure and caused part of Tiger's bankruptcy (maybe the parties for promoted the console and being involved in corrupt plots and mafia gangs also had an effect). It has 14 games (some exclusives like "Gizmondo Motocross 2005" or "Gizmondo Navigator CoPilot 2006") and another 30 canceled. The emulation has been complicated, but it looks like some are starting to work. Nichibutsu My Vision A Japanese console released in 1983 by Nichibutsu, that mainly adapted board games. It didn't have a controller, and instead used some kind of keyboard. It has 6 games that work in MAME and some other emulators. -
Help contribute playlist ideas to the Game Discovery Center π
MrDeKat replied to AstroBob's topic in Community Corner
Thanks, I didn't see the option of Game Discovery Center here. I think the orignal idea that it changes every time you enter is perfect. My request was not to replace it, it was to add other options with lists of the same type grouped together. As if it were filtered by keywords that each list had. Maybe it will be understood better with a picture: -

I've been testing the Game Discovery Center and I found it really interesting. Great job. I have some some functionality suggestions. Maybe they can't be implemented or are not the path you are looking for, but I leave them here in case anyone be interesting: It would be interesting to create different categories for the lists: "best of", "worst of", "discover games", "because you liked", "explore games", "event lists"... Now it's a bit chaotic and interesting lists like "Spooky games for October" can go unnoticed. For event lists, it could be interesting show games that you don't have (as happens with similar games or ports). Some games that you may not know existed would be discovered. Incorporate a percentage of games played or completed from each list, would encourage to try more games from the list. Like some kind of achievement. If it were related to completed achievements, could be win medals on your profile (something like Retroachievement events). It would be fantastic to see lists of RA events (like Achievement of the Week) and the latest games that incorporate achievements. I imagine that there isn't a way to automate this information, but I mention it in case there will be luck. Show a logo for the event lists would give a fantastic aspect. Give the option to add the Game Discovery Center as one of the platforms or categories that appear when you open BigBox. As a user who uses Launchbox more than BigBox, it would be great to have Game Discovery Center in Launchbox. I hope you have it in your plans. -
It happens to me with all Arcade games. These are the data obtained in the importance of Mame, with the option to update the metadata activated. It's from 5 days ago: "Download Metadata and Media Wizard" and the first option (Download and replace metadata): This is the result, with all games with 01/01/19xx as released date: Now if I search the game from edit option (this case is "Anti-Aircraft"), it shows the complete released date:
-
Hi!! In Beta 4, when the metadata is downloades with "Download Metadata and Media Wizard", the release date is updated with only the year (01/01/19xx). However, if you update the metadata with the Edit option of each game, the release date is updated with day, month and year.

Hi!! When a game data is loaded, Launchbox only loads one of the developers and publishers, although there are several in the database. I detected this with Arcade platform. Two examples: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/36858-indy-800 https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/34481-breakout I think this happened one or two years ago, in case it helps.

Artstyle Appreciation: Whatβs Your Top Pick β
MrDeKat replied to AstroBob's topic in Community Corner
I love the large number of visual styles in the world of video games. From the characteristic graphics of 8-bit computers like Spectrum or C64, to the very different aesthetics of some indies, like Machinarium, Four Last Things or Return of the Obra Dinn. I love the pixel art. The classic games like Dynamite Headdy, Metal Slug or Symphony of the Night, and the more current visual gems, like Owlboy, Rain World, Inmost or that masterpiece called Blasphemous. However, there are two games that captivated me when I saw them first images: "Ori and the Blind Forest" and "Ori and the Will of the Wisps". -
