  1. I mean do you not have to redownload and reload every single rom every month?
  2. What version of mame are you using?what version of roms do you have? Honestly I have better luck running mame through retroarch. Plus you can get some sweet shaders. my suggestion would be to delete your games off LaunchBox, then go download the retroarch portable (not the install) place it in your emulators path in your LaunchBox directory and double click the .exe go down to online updater>core updater>then scroll down to the version of mame you need (I.e the version your roms are.) go over one to video>full screen mode>start in full screen mode. Quit the emulator (settings will save) go back into launch box and add an emulator, then choose retroarch and click edit. second tab hit “associated platforms” go down to Arcade (if it isn’t there just type it in on an empty one. then on the right click the fly down box and select mame. save it. Then go to the importer and import your games. platform Arcade emulator=retroarch then when they import try to launch them.
  3. even with a pi and retropie you at the minimum need a keyboard. At the maximum you need a PC that can access it either through scp or through network.
  4. Honesty I have no idea why you would want to go through all that every single month.
  5. I found it.
  6. Hey all, so I’ve been trying to get some of the chds to some of the more popular games. Problem is I need to download them separately. I can’t just shove an additional 7 million gigs in my build. is there a list somewhere of all the .218 roms that require CHDs? Or is there a way I can figure it out so that I can pick the ones I want to use and hide the rest?
  7. Ok, I reinstalled retroarch and it fixed the issue....somewhat it now doesn’t crash but it does take me into the mame bios screen after hitting esc. how can I disable this?
  8. I thought that as well, but I’ve tried them all with the same results. It’s still trying to use OpenGL it seems...I get the same error. hit esc one time and it exits. change it to hit twice and it crashes after one press. ill check the drivers.
  9. Ok nothing is working. it has to be something in the settings for the arcade platform because nothing else does it. I think it’s a hotkey issue because if I turn it to press once for exit instead of twice it doesn’t do it. Which I guess I could do.
  10. Im going to try some of the solutions here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/windowsreport.com/exception-access-violation-windows-10/%3Famp I’ll report back if any work to fix this error. whats strange though, is it doesn’t seem like a retroarch.exe application error or else, I would think that every retroarch game wold be doing this. It only seems like it’s the mame .219 core that’s doing it. Actually first I’m going to totally delete my retroarch.cfg file and let it generate a new default one. If that works then it’s some setting that I messed with.

Honestly I cant see anything that explains this.
  13. That did it! Thanks.
  14. I had this working pretty good with mame2003. I loaded the mame.218 romset and mame.219 core and now for some reason, the roms work but retroarch crashes when I hit esc to exit the rom. gives me an error that says retroarch.exe has stopped working. anyone know how to fix this or figure out what’s going on?
  15. Ok I can’t figure this out. right now I have an arcade platform, as usual. this platforms associated emulator is retro arch the Default core for the arcade platform with retroarch is mame. but I also want my final burn games in Arcade and I want mvc2 with flycast in there as well. how do I accomplish this? right now I’m staring at mvc2, sf3-2 and sf3-3 in my arcade platform. mvc2 should be flycast the street fighters should be final burn. the rest should be mame. i can change the entire platform but not each rom, at least I’m not sure how.
  16. Ok thank you
  17. Alright thanks so much I’ll try it out. i have a merged .218 set will that matter?
  18. So I got a .218 rom set and I’m trying to figure out how to get the .218 emulator into LaunchBox. I’d really like to do it through retro arch, because shaders. I really want to run it through retro arch but I don’t see .218 Listed as an available core. Anyone accomplish this?
  19. Awesome, I’ll give this a shot when I get off work this evening, thanks.
  20. It’s been so long since I’ve looked at a CRT that I really don’t remember how it should look. Whats the best looking curving crt shader preset one retro arch right now? on retropie I used zfast and was pleased with it but I’ve been playing around with some of the more resource heavy ones with this PC build. i tried lottes fast and really felt like it distorted the image too much. i really like the look of the geom shader but the image jitter it produces might get old plus it seems to really be quite the resource hog. any suggestions?
  21. Nice, so I wonder what the best way would be to make a decent, functional list? The one I have now works but it isn’t presentable or user friendly. The games that I enjoy I have push button launchable. But if someone comes to play it or the kids get on it there’s a good possibility that they will select something that doesn’t work. My OCD can’t deal with that. It’d be nice to have a list of about 500 or so games that just straight up function without me having to go down this giant list individually. edit: just read the other reply, so I guess I’m going to just try to build a modern rom set. The PC should be able to handle it. That leads to another question. how do I de-import this list? edit 2: sorry, I forgot to say. There is an option in retro arch to enable the test menu button but it doesn’t tell me what that button is or give me the option to map one.
  22. Thanks for your time. would it be better to scrap the .78 build and try to build a more modern list? I used mame2003 since that was what I was familiar with from retropie.
  23. Hello, My name is Ben and I’m a 40 year old near computer illiterate human person. I recently modded an Arcade1up with a raspberry pi and got bit by the bug. Now I’m swapping out the pi for a PC build and LaunchBox...right as I was getting comfortable with retropie. I’m sure I will have questions as I’m building my library here, so just prepare those eye rolls. Im running a dell pooptieplex 3010 i5 with a GT1030 graphics card and 4gb of ram. Also running a 250gb SSD and a 500gb mech drive. So far I’m pretty excited it’s a vast improvement over the pi3. It runs Killer instinct 1 and 2 and primal rage perfectly. NFL blitz is still a bust but can’t have it all. as to why I’m putting all this time and effort into this hardware to cram Into this pos 1up cabinet I can’t tell you other than that’s all the money my resident female financial committee would approve. Wish me luck people. I do have some rando questions that someone may have a quick answer 2. 1: I got the sega Naomi emulation working in retroarch finally and I’m pretty happy I can finally put mvc2 in my cabinet. I want to get to the rom test menu, does anyone know how to do it? 2: I am using mame2003pro with a mame2003 .78 reference set. It’s strange that I have games in my arcade list after importing them that I don’t even have roms for. If you go to the list, it points to a zip file that isn’t even there. For example I have like a hoard of golden tee games listed that I don’t have the roms for. Does anyone know why this is? I have one more big question that I’ll likely make a new thread for if I can’t figure it out, but I want to mess around with it a little while longer before I do.
