  1. Holy crap man! Not all heros wear capes. This makes me insanely happy.
  2. I’ve got some steam issues that are kind of making me crazy. 1: whenever I load a steam game the stupid dialogue box comes on asking me if I want to start in offline mode. I have to click this box to get the blasted game to load and it’s a royal pain. Is there a way to just default in offline mode to keep this box away? 2: whenever I load a steam game the dang cursor shows up right in the middle of the screen. I have to pick up my wireless and move it out of the way. Is there anyway to hide the cursor? 3. There are some games that you have to actually hit escape on the keyboard to exit. Like umvc3 has no exit option in the menu. Any tricks to exit the game with my sticks and buttons instead of picking up the keyboard?
  3. I never turn my machine off. Recently if I leave it on overnight it crashes. I have pictures Of the error given if it helps the community any. edit: Gah for some reason these are attaching sideways. I have no idea how to fix it. The images on my phone are not sideways.
  4. my suggestion is to just not use null DC. If your trying to run a Naomi arcade rom I would use flycast core through retroarch or if you are using actual DC games try using redream. nullDC has fallen behind and to me, it’s just no longer relevant.
  5. I have everything up and running, but there are a few wrinkles I’d like to iron out if anyone knows the answers: 1: when booting up my bios splash screen shows a big Dell logo. Can I get rid of this somehow? 2: I have no GUI boot enabled, however I still get the windows screen that says Admin and has a little circle logging in. Can I disable this screen? 3: can you totally just delay the windows desktop from loading until after big box has booted like you can in Linux? That would actually eliminate my next two questions which are: 4: if I absolutely have to see the windows desktop while big box is booting, is there a way to totally get rid of the taskbar? I have it set to auto hide but you can still see it on initial boot up. I want to totally delete the taskbar. 5: again, if I am forced to see the windows desktop, I have a nice background but is there a way to set an animated background that loops an animation like a loading screen? Granted I can just type “loading big box” on my desktop wallpaper, but an animated one would be nicer 6: on my old retropie build I had a button which would shut it down and start it up using a script and the GPIO pins. Can I make something similar in windows? edit: 7: one more, is there a way to make big box “always on top”? Sometimes I’ll get notifications or windows boxes that end up coming through the big box ui. nothing major here just some things to help me..
  6. Beautiful! im also going to be setting up a dynamic marquee. That is, after I Lysol the living crap out of the LED bar that’s shipping from China.
  7. It looks like it’s default set up to appear under arcade but when I click “arcade” in big box...it’s still a wall of games. Maybe it’s theme related?
  8. I follow you here, and I think this is the way to go, but I’m struggling trying to figure out how to get the playlists to show under the arcade platform. like for instance I would like to see the initial platform/system view, then click into that platform and see the playlists instead of a giant list of games. For instance: big box boots up and into the default platforms/systems view, then I select arcade Then I see a list of arcade game playlists. is that possible?
  9. Thanks. I’m doing this right now but man is it tedious, going through all these one at a time will take me months.. if you can add any game into arcade platform, What about steam games? i have umvc3, sf4, sf5, and mortal kombat xl that I would like to put into arcade along with all the Naomi roms.
  10. I figured out what was going on. Weirdly it’s the startup images that were Causing the issue. I disabled them and it works just fine strangely. plus they work just fine in launchbox.
  11. I got it figured out, but it’s really odd. the hotkeys work just fine in games other than capcom games. The button I set as a hotkey does not work in the game but it works for every other rom. weird no?
  12. Just looked and yes the settings are identical. The screens work just fine in launchbox no problem. Big box doesn’t.
  13. Ok I did some more work on this today and figured out that there is something screwy with the hotkeys feature in retroarch. if I go into a console, and set my hotkeys in retroarch to exit with start+select. Everything works perfectly fine. if I go into the arcade platform (mame+retroarch) with it setup this way, it still works perfectly fine...on some Roms. Others, mostly capcom games weirdly enough, the select button does not work (in this case select is set as a hot key.) however, if I disable the hotkeys in retroarch, the select button works just fine but when I exit with start+select it takes me into the mame UI. very weird.
  14. Ok I figured this out in case anyone is interested. I disabled the startup images/themes and now it works perfectly. Which is kind of a bummer that you have to go without it. Paid like 50 bucks for this and a feature is pretty much non-functional.
  15. Whenever I load a rom through launchbox via retroarch and I try to quit, I end up staring at the mame menu. Does anyone know why this is happening?
  16. Like the title says, I have this up and running but for some blasted reason, whenever I try to load a mame rom from big box, retroarch crashes. For instance, I boot up big box, go to the arcade and select marvel vs. capcom. it will attempt to load, then it will crash and I’ll get a windows dialogue that says “retroarch.exe has stopped working” I can go into retroarch and load the rom and it works just fine. i can open launchbox, click on the rom and again it loads just fine. it will not work at all through big box. Anyone know what’s going on here?
  17. Ok, I set advanced settings to true and the hotkey option is still not showing in the menu. What gives with this?
  18. Well yes I was able to get the hotkeys functional by adjusting the cfg file. I did not try turning on the advanced settings I will try that tommorrow. Something is really screwy because freaking retroarch crashes whenever I try to load a rom through big box. I back out and load the same dang rom through retroarch by itself and it works perfectly. I try to load it through launch box no problems there. Start up big box, load a rom and “retroarch has stopped working”. How stupid. also, my encoders are detected as n64 retro-dingus or whatever. They are not detected As dragonrise generic usb encoder like it’s supposed to be. So I had to manually map every button and re-save the automapping so I didn’t have to repeat it all for player 2. What’s really screwy is that my start and select buttons work on every game except capcom games for some screw ball reason. Some games neither button works, some games the player 1 select button won’t work...it makes no sense. It’s only capcom games. I can load up aliens and everything works normally. I can add coins, play the game, exit the game no problem (except in big box where it crashes and won’t load). I load up mvc and the player 1 select button doesn’t work. I load up avp or 1944 and neither button works. I go to the settings and the mapping is set correctly. im really starting to regret swapping my pi out for this headache.
  19. For some reason when I go to settings hotkey binds the “enable hotkey” option simply isn’t there anymore so I can’t do the start+select exit rom combo anymore... anyone know why this is? im using a usb encoder. The dragonrise ones.
  20. Well I finally got my arcade cabinet up and put my pc in it. Everything was running fine, now all of a sudden retroarch won’t load anything. I think it has something to do with the usb encoders because everything worked fine before I plugged up the sticks and buttons and the dragonrise usb encoders. When I load up retroarch it doesn’t detect them as “dragonrise generic usb encoders” it’s detecting them as “retrolink n64 controllers” which is super weird. I’m using a dell 3010 i5 with a nvidia 1030. Things I have tried so far: deleted the retroarch config file. Created a new config file. I also tried remapping the controls but it’s set on detecting them incorrectly. More disconcerting than that honesty is that retroarch worked fine up until today... God I hate windows, I knew I should have done this crap in Linux. Any ideas are welcome.
  21. Like the title says. I’m looking for a efficient way to organize some of my arcade games. Here is what I would like to accomplish, I’m just not sure how to go about doing it: I currently have the standard arcade platform with the mame .218 romset with some, but not all, CHDs. I have a windows platform with sf4, 5, umvc3, and mkxl. I have a sega Naomi platform with the Naomi 1 set. first, I would like to combine these platforms into one platform called “Arcade”. secondly, I would like to hide the obscure arcade games that no one plays. (There one that is paper, rock, scissors for gods sake) so that I can basically have Just the more popular titles available. However I would like to have a way to view those games in case someone comes over and asks if I have xyz obscure game, I can say here let’s see. The thought of doing this individually sounds painful. Anyone have a good idea how to do this?
  22. Ok I’m on the same page with you, apologies. Sometimes my reading comprehension is poor.
  23. I think we are saying basically the same thing, however I do respectfully disagree with the Implied statement that if the roms won’t work in retroarch, they won’t work at all. None of my roms work in any retroarch core, but project64 runs them all no problems. I realize this may be the exception.
  24. I’ve had terrible luck running n64 with Mupen. Download project64 and try that per the video tutorial here.
  25. THANK YOU! This leads me to another question though. primal rage 2, tekken 4, tekken 5, soul caliber 2 and 3... I know these don’t actually work, but they are listed here So I’m assuming that other non-functional ones are listed as well. Is there a way to filter out the non-functional ones? Other than the obvious way of checking it against the ones the importer actually imported.
