  1. I also want a way to do this. I have not looked into custom Themes yet (my Launchbox PC is offline), but users can already select what fields we want shown in other areas of the information panel, so I was also expecting to find an option in the Options menu.
  2. Hi. I'm wondering if there is a way to manage playlists that allows for easily assigning a game to multiple playlists easily. I thought to look for this when getting tired of the `right-click -> edit -> add to playlist -> select playlist` workflow. Something like a spreadsheet view, or way to drag and drop selections to categories would be ideal, but I've not found anything and was a bit surprised. Thanks for any information!
  3. Awesome. Thank you for such a great tool regardless!
  4. Hi. How does this manage seasons of shows, or multiple episodes? I just downloaded this and am looking forward to using it tonight. Been wanting to put my video media into launchbox for a long time.
  5. @Retro808 This is exactly what I was hoping for. It worked! Is there documentation on how Launchbox associates it's files? I want to make sure I understand how Media relates to the equivalent ROMS. I figure there must be some writeups about this but have been unable to find them. The reason: Now I need to transplant those images back onto the main machine. I'm having some trouble doing so. I made sure the dummy-ROMs were in _mostly_ the same location (drive letter was different), when downloading on the online machine, and had the same paths where possible. The problem: Since copying the new images over, I've not been able to get the existing ROMs to recognize they're there. If I assign the images manually, they show up, but obviously I can't do this for several hundred games. I've tried reimporting the ROMs, removing and reimporting them, and "Updating Metadata and Media for Selected Games", but nothing seems to associate the images with the games they match up with. Same filenames, etc. Thank you for all your help!
  6. That may be what I'll have to do. I guess Launchbox looks for the presence of the actual files and verifies they're legitimate roms? There are hundreds. It may be more time-efficient to buy a new HDD and just mirror them there, to avoid hours of manual effort. Thank you for your reply! This is about what I expected, but thank you for helping me understand the system.
  7. Hi, My media center/launchbox system is offline-only. It's HDD is too large to copy to another machine, and I don't want to transplant the drive just for this. I have a few hundred games I'm still missing media for. Are there alternative ways to download media? Can I copy XML from my offline system to download on another Launchbox installation? I'm looking for a workaround for the automated solution. Thank you for any help!
  8. Hey man, I'm over 40. That may as well have been 6 months ago. Smarm = overruled! I only bumped because someone else chimed in a much later date from the original post, and the OP updated. Was hoping for the same. If there's an alternative, please share!
  9. Looks like this isn't available anymore, again? Seems like a moderately popular tool! If there's another way to auto-hide duplicate games in my library, please let me know!
  10. Thank you for your reply! What if I am already using the Clear Logos in Platforms for something else?
  11. My Theme is hyper-minimal, mostly text, but for the Platforms menu I want to have each platform represented by a simplified image of its controller. I'm creating the controller images myself, but don't know how to implement them as graphics for a given Wheel. Can someone illuminate that process for me? The way BigBox/Themes/CTC store images for everything is confusing to me. The initial thought I had was to overwrite a different Media directory (say, fanart, because I don't intend to use that category for anything else), then select that category of Media for the Wheel. Is this a good approach? Is there a simpler way to go about this? Is this the kind of thing I should be doing in the XAML or XML directly, instead of the Editor UI? Thank you for any advice.
  12. Update *SOLVED* So it turns out another post elsewhere recommended just installing the SDK. When I installed the SDK on my Windows 7 rig, the issue did not resolve. When I installed the SDK today on my Win10 rig, the issue was resolved! 🥳 <3
  13. Bumpity Bump. I got a whole new gaming rig. Installing Launchbox 12.5 has the same issue as reported above. Here were my steps: - Install Win10 - Set up all the things (typical process, can share details but should not affect this issue) - Install Launchbox 12 - Launchbox setup informs user that .NET Core 3.1.6 must be downloaded from the internet for Launchbox to run - Quit Launchbox setup - Install .net-runtime 3.1.6 - Install .net framework 4.8 (included with Win10) - Install .net desktop runtime 3.1.x - Install ASP .net Core 3.1.x (all the versions of .NET I can find) - Install Launchbox 12 - Launchbox setup does not inform user of need to download .NET Core 3.1.6, and Launchbox installs as expected - Launch Launchbox - At startup Launchbox prompts the user that .NET 3.1.6 is required to run, and asks if the user would like it downloaded now This is kind of silly. As with all my gaming rigs, this is an offline machine. Can this issue please be addressed? I am moving to download the latest version of LB now, since I now have no choice but to run Win10, but... Thank you for any assistance.
  14. I'm going to bump this since it was never actually fixed. I got my system up and running with LB v10.1 again, but there are still issues with that situation that would be resolved by installing a later version of the software. In order to do that, I need to figure out the problem with its recognition of its own requirements.
  15. Great, thank you for confirming! Okay, since I already had that installed, what should I check next (since it's still giving that message). I had installed 3.1, 3.1.6, and 6.0.
  16. Thank you for your reply. That's good to know! What, then, is .NET Core? Is it ASP .NET Core? Or .NET Framework, .NET Runtime, or .NET Desktop Runtime? Those are all listed beneath the only link on Microsofts site that refers to anything named ".NET Core", and there is no individual download with that name. I have installed *all* of the distributables in that section, both specified versions and latest versions, of the site except the SDK itself. Sorry I have to rely on this community to clear up Microsofts messes, but this also seems to be clearly a bug with Launchbox. Even if I let Launchbox automatically download the version it says it needs, the issue still persists after installing that version (which is almost certainly the same among those I've installed manually). I am running this on Win7x4 on an HP TouchSmart 610-1130y. OS was freshly installed. The system is a dedicated MAME machine. Thank you for any additional help you can give.
  17. Hi, I'm having this same issue. Launchbox claims it needs ".NET Core 3.1". I have installed: - .net framework 4.8 - .net desktop runtime 3.1.x - .net runtime 3.1.x - ASP .net Core 3.1.x I see this dialog when I install Lanchbox 12.5. I did not try other versions, but if I go back to LB 10.1, I think it actually works. I would double check that, but... When I followed @C-Beats suggestion (which I think has a typo; the '/' should precede 'scannow'), the process said it found and fixed errors. I rebooted my system and the explorer.exe process will launch, eat up 6 GB of RAM, crash, relaunch, and repeat. Didn't expect this! I just reinstalled the OS (Win7) on this tonight, so starting over again is not a big deal, but if you have an suggestions about fixing the .NET Core 3.1 issue please share. What else could be the cause of the issue? Why does LB 12.5 need this, but 10.x doesn't? Thank you for your help and suggestions.
  18. Mapping controller buttons to Change Theme/View was a great tip! Made it so much easier. However, this is definitely an issue with this installation. As an experiment, I installed the same version of emulator, launchbox, and themes on my laptop, and it works right away. It's only the machine I'm actually working on that has this issue. I have 8-10 themes on the system and BigBox can see the the files, and it displays them in the Options|View section, so it appears they're in their correctly locations on disk. When I change the theme, the UI appears to reload, but it remains the same no matter how many I do, and no matter which theme I select in the options. Do you know where BigBox stores these properties? Is there a file or property not be getting updated? This is occurring on a fresh installation of Win7 sp1, up to date, etc. Thank you for the help!
Perfect. Sleek, fast, this guy gets minimal. Favorite theme. ❤️
  19. This is exactly the theme I have been looking for. Very clean, no fluff, I love it. Is there a way to have the platform menu display playlists instead? I only have one platform on the whole system (MAME). I'm new to BigBox themes.
  20. Thank you for explaining it. If I go to the Options in BigBox and select one of the themes I've installed, nothing changes. This is why I thought I needed to use "Manage Themes". Is there another step that's required to get the theme to change? My specific steps were: - Install Windows - Install necessary updates - Install Emulators, ROMs, Launchbox - Initial setup, confirm everything runs - Download theme zip files from the site - Unzip into the Launchbox themes directory - Open BigBox - Go to Options - Go to Views - Select Theme - Back out of menu -??? Nothing changes in my view. This is what caused me to think I had to use Manage Themes. Any advice? Thank you in advance.
  21. Thank you for your reply. I download themes manually and transfer them to an offline machine. When I select "Manage Themes" on the offline machine, it shows an error that suggests it requires an internet connection. Can you tell me how to set up Big Box themes on an offline machine? Thank you again.
  22. Yeah, everything launches from everywhere but Launchbox. FWIW, I did look into the debug log, and here were my findings: ``` I tried to install the latest version of Launchbox. The machine is entirely offline and a bit of a pain to connect to the net. The installer for Launchbox 12.5 requires the 2015 Visual C redistributable, and .NET 3.1.6. I manually installed both of these, but the Launchbox installer does not see the VisualC installation. I grabbed the latest VisualC Redist. from the Microsoft site, installed it, and Launchbox still doesn't see it, and won't install without it. This part may be better in a separate thread... Thanks again for your help.
  23. I am running LB 10.1, because it's not easy for me to update, and that's what I have the license for. It's also the version running on my primary media center, but I don't run Mame there so it wasn't useful for troubleshooting. Judging by the number of things you've called out that Launchbox should have done differently, I'm going to assume I'm still making a mistake, wipe it, and try again from scratch. I don't think things like the incorrectly configured game path and missing gameIDs are issues with the version, but rather that I still did something wrong. Thank you again for your help. I'll do a fresh installation and report back if it ends up working this time.
  24. Thank you for your reply Koroth. I had asked about logs before and no one pointed that out; thank you! For the mame install - I was simplifying program paths when I typed them here. My mistake. Mame paths are consistent. The entire machine is a Mame-only box. It has nothing else installed on it at all. There is one installation of Launchbox, one installation of Mame 0.238, and the ROMs folder, and that's it. There were no prior installations. It was Windows 7 (+necessary updates) -> Mame -> Launchbox -> Roms -> Failure To go back and answer one of @neil9000's questions I missed- I never, ever let Launchbox copy or move my ROMs. I handle all the organization. I'll check out the log and report back, but if you've any other ideas in the meantime, thank you!
