in options > integrations > MAME there is a check box that says "Upload your MAME highscores to the Launchbox Games Database etc..." you want to make sure that is checked, it is off by default.
-
Hey, sorry not sure where to ask this. Is there anywhere on the forum where people are chatting about the highscores other than troubleshooting issues? It'd be cool if there was someway to hook into that database and display the scores on a website.

i've only been able to get Beta v0.7j. Would you mind uploading the version you have? Unless I'm a dunce and am missing the active link. Everything I've tried is dead.
-
Yeah exactly. I went through and did that once system by system on my older machine that was running a different front end. Not looking forward to doing it again. BUT if I am doing it again (and I am ) I want it to be the last time in case something happens. I was hoping updating the database would solve that but I guess not. Seems to have a basic set list of genres that you can choose from. I think my biggest pet peeve is the "Action" genre. So many random games under that.

Sorry for the necrobump, but incase anyone else comes across this thread like I did, here's a workaround to get a filtered list into launchbox using lightspeed v0.7j. 1 - I'm going to assume you know how to get the proper .ini files and mame xml into lightspeed. You can manually add them by downloading your version from projetto snaps if you can't get it to sync. 2 - Set up your filters 3 - On the export screen, hit "Filter!" 4 - on the left, there is a "Copy/move sets" option panel. Set this up so it copies (or moves, up to you) the filtered roms to a different directory on your computer. Hit the "Copy/Move" button. 5 - Import that directory as a new platform and nest it like a playlist under your main list (change it's parent list setting). *6 - If you've chosen to copy the files, go into the platform settings and change the default rom location to your main mame rom directory and delete the duplicates. You can also do this through the platform cfg file launchbox generates.

So it seems! I guess I'll just have to do it locally again... I really wish I could cascade filters better. Anyway that's a different issue. Thank you for the response.

I guess I'll just start doing it and see what happens.

I'm curious, would it be an acceptable thing to add MAME style genre's to console games? I find MAME's easier to filter as they are more specific. If I was to add a "Shooter Vertical" genre tag to say NES 1942 (which is currently listed as only "Shooter"), would that mess anything up / get rejected? This would be in addition to the existing tags rather than replacing them. I've done this before locally so I can create better genre lists... but that machine has long since died. If i go through the whole exercise of re-genreing again I'd like to do it in a more permanent way.

Steam - Box Art - 3D - YMC View File First batch of steam box art I've made. I am using an actionscript I found on these forums somewhere (thanks for that, whoever you were, I should have wrote that down) and some resources from steamgamecovers.com. These have been submitted to the DB, but here they are in one spot. As I make more I'll update this file. Submitter yourmovecr33p Submitted 10/16/2020 Category Game Box Art

I hyper focused on TATE mode games for my cabinet and use generic themed global lists accessed through Platform Categories. The video for each game re-orients depending on its aspect ratio as some games are running from Steam and have 16:9 videos instead of 3:4. I may venture into pinball as well at some point. I'm going to track down some other games that run in tate for saturn and dreamcast etc, but there isn't really that many that aren't already in MAME. So I may end up creating a theme for the playlists I create as I go along. Like favourites / Shmup / platformer / racing etc. I don't know if I'll ever do specific systems though. Depends if I can wrangle a bigger tv out of my better half so I can support better 4:3. If any of that interests you I'd be more than willing to share, or help you out with something of your own

Lol, looks like I went down the same rabbit hole as you and ended up making a very similar theme! I went for attempting to utilize the cover flow and 3d boxes though. I'll have to post a video of it here, but I still have a lot of polishing to do. See the attached initial designs for now... I should probably get back to work. If you're interested I can flip you some corrected arcade machine backgrounds. Those speakers always bugged me as I feel they are too far up.

Additional apps - Run after not waiting until game exits
yourmovecr33p replied to BuckoA51's topic in Troubleshooting
I repurposed this AH script to flip my resolution back to vertical after initially switching it to standard 1920x1080, thanks so much for this. I'm justifying this necro bump due to usefulness. -

Actually I ended up finding a program called "display" that mostly did what i want http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=misc#display it isnt flipping back to 270 after exit though so i need to figure something else out -

This looks like what I need, thanks! I have some pc shooters that have tate mode in the options, but don't like the monitor being in 1080x1920. (Raiden IV and a few others) Hopefully this works. I'll respond back regardless. Thanks! -
looks like a run i did on futari15.zip somehow duplicated the existing score. Had some other issues with the futari's, but that was i think before the last update. I'll post here if i come across it again. Good work guys, it's working great for the most part!
