  1. Yeah, I am not a hardware expert either, just a user. I just know that the GP-Wiz 40 is pretty popular and, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way for a user to configure the one device to appear as two separate devices. Again, the intention (mine anyways, I can't speak for the original poster), is to use the extra buttons not for game play, but for controlling the BigBox UI (Options > Controller Mappings) for things like "Show Game Details Screen" and "Set Star Rating". Attached is what the Windows' Game Controllers' properties show, for example while pressing "Button 24". Thank you both for your insight. For now I'm going to relegate this to a "known limitation" in BigBox that will hopefully change in the future. – Jeff Sorensen
  2. I'm not sure what you mean by this. As far as I can tell, BigBox recognizes the GP-Wiz 40 as a single device.
  3. If Windows recognizes "Joy 1 Button 17" from a GP-Wiz 40, as does MAME, as does AutoHotKey, etc... why doesn't BigBox? As I understand it, these extra buttons are designed specifically for such use.
  4. There are lots of controllers that have more than 16 buttons... GP-Wiz 40, I-PAC Ultimate, Stream Deck, X-Arcade, etc. In BigBox, there are 45 different controller mapping options, e.g. "Show Ratings". For those of us who want to use BigBox with a stand-up arcade machine, we don't want to use the player buttons to control the system interface, so we set up a separate control panel for navigating games, viewing high scores, etc. I really like BigBox, I'm just not sure why this seemingly arbitrary limitation was set. -- Jeff Sorensen
  5. Tony, I don't have a fix, but I also have a GP-Wiz 40 and can confirm what you're seeing. From what I can tell, for the purposes of "Options > Controller Mappings", BigBox (v10.15) only seems to recognize Joy 1 (Right, Left, Up, Down) and Buttons 1-16. I don't see any reason why BigBox wouldn't recognize buttons 17-32, but it doesn't. Attached is the reference sheet I made for my own setup. -- Jeff Sorensen Pinout BigBox Mame.pdf
  6. Thank you Retro808! That is exactly the hint I needed. For posterity... In my example, I changed the name of the existing entry to "Ms. Pac-Man (Fast)". Created a separate ROMS folder "Duplicates". Copied the ROM to the Duplicates folder and imported it with the wizard. When prompted, "Would you like to move or copy the files?", choose the third option "Use the files in their current location." When prompted, "Would you like to specify any custom options?", check "Force importing duplicate games" and uncheck "Combine ROMs with matching titles into a single game." That created the duplicate entry which I was able to add to my playlist. Also... If you don't change the name of the original first, but instead change the name afterwards, it moves all the images and then the duplicate has no images. You can simply edit the duplicate and re-click "Download Image/Media" and it will grab it all again with that entries name. THANKS AGAIN!
  7. Is there an option to change the font size of a theme or scale the UI in BigBox? I BigBox on a vertical monitor (1200x1600) with the CriticalZoneV2 - BlueBox theme.
  8. Is it possible to list a game twice in one playlist? For example, I have a playlist called "Cabinet" that I use with Big Box on my MAME Cabinet. I would like to list Ms Pac-Man (mspacman) and Ms Pac-Man Fast (mspacmnf) separately. They are both part of the same merged game set and only show up once in the "All" playlist. Thanks!
  9. So I really like LaunchBox, it's quite amazing. And BigBox, is really slick and I think it'll do what I want. I happily paid the $30 for premium license and plan to upgrade to the forever license IFF I can bring my project to fruition. My biggest disappointment is the complete lack of real documentation (that I can find). Instead it appears the vendor has opted for community support through forums and tutorials on YouTube. These are great things, don't get me wrong, but documentation is king. Being able to look at a screen and then go to the documentation and see what's what would be really helpful. A community driven wiki would rock.
