Hello, Just wanted to say MSX 2 games will not scan for RetroAchievements when in it's own platform (IE not combined with MSX 1 games). Would be nice if we could scan the MSX 2 platform like we do MSX 1 platform. They will scan if I import them as MSX 1 games. But I prefer not to combine MSX 1 and 2 into 1 platform though as I have thousands of each. thanks

Thank you

I just made a list of all high scores that I am sure are glitches. A few of them are mine. I did not include a few other scores that I suspect as glitches, but cannot be sure of. Hopefully these can be scrubbed to clean up the high score list. Having a way to reject specific scores for specific games could prevent most of these in the future. The .hex arduboy games launch just fine with the Arduous RA core, but I cannot get the keyboard or any controllers/mouse to work with them. I'm probably missing something simple. thanks in advance.
-
The only system that has RetroAchievements that wont show up for me as having them, is Nintendo Pokemon Mini. They work as intended as far as earning RA points goes.

could someone please PM me with MFME v20 or v20.1 cannot register at the site, wont accept my email? cannot find on internet archive either? thanks.

Hi all. Needing some advice. I want to move my really large image folder off my m.2 ssd drive and on to a regular hard drive. What is the fastest/easiest way to move the images folder in Launchbox. I'm not talking about just dragging a folder somewhere else. lol. I mean for Launchbox to know where the new location is. Do I have to go through and edit each platform or is there a way to change them all at once. thanks in advance

What we could use is a dat made from the Launchbox database of games. I currently use dats from good, emuarc (site), no-intro, tosec, scene, mame, redump, PD, TDC, etc. Actually all of them for collecting roms. But ideally it would be great to maintain a dat that reproduces the contents of the Launchbox database. I have just over 13 million roms in my romvault, partially deduplicated using sabretools. I could probably reproduce 98-99% of the Launchbox database if I just had a dat for it. BTW, great tutorial

My problem is this. I use a 43" QN90B Samsung smart TV in my Arcade Cabinet, for my main monitor. I use a 1600X900 monitor on top to display snap, marquee, game type videos. the 43" uses HDMI cable off the Computer for sound. This then feeds an amplifier inside the cabinet for the speakers. This bypasses the marquee monitor and therefore the videos playing get no sound. Then I made use of a third monitor I use to my left of the arcade cabinet. This third monitor has speakers built in. So I ran an audio cable from the marquee monitor to this third monitor. After this I would have sound playing for the marquee monitor independent of the 43" TV. I had to use the mixer to achieve sound from both outputs. Took me awhile to figure that out. But now I have music playing from the marquee videos as the game is playing its sounds through the TV. It is not muting. I had a tough time trying to get use to the navigation of Big Box, so I prefer using Launchbox at this time. I am using the 3rd party Thirdscreen app (but only for 2 of the 3 monitors). I'm just more comfortable with Launchbox. I am always trying new ideas out and am constantly configuring things. I should mention that the other 2 monitors use display port to DVI connections. They do not have HDMI or display port.

thank you, I will look into this more.

I didn't check all through this post, but I need a script to mute VLC player when launching a game and then unmute VLC when exiting a game. Thanks for any help.

Not sure if you mean Launchbox or the Daphne game when you ask about fullscreen. But either way both are full screen. I am running Daphne at the recommended resolutions. It does keep correct aspect ration when going full screen on 4K monitor. The Marquee monitor is a normal 1600 X 900 monitor. Not a special cut-off one. I did notice that when running Daphne outside of Launchbox that any windowed folders and even the Daphneloader switch over to the marquee monitor when exiting a game. The games always play on my main monitor though. It must have something to do with daphne itself. Maybe I should get a HDMI to displayport adapter for the monitor (It has no displayport output). Could be that it is prioritizing displayport of the marquee monitor over the HDMI monitor with regards to other programs???

Hi, I finally got Daphne emulator working perfectly through Launchbox with one exception. The Launchbox menu moves to my Marquee monitor when exiting a daphne game, and then I have to drag it back to my main monitor. I have tried every setting I could think of with no success. I use Devreorder to keep my game controllers from swapping, and Xpadder for the controls with Daphne. I also use the Thirdscreen plugin for marquees as I am use to navigating Launchbox, couldn't get use to Bigbox. I am using Daphne standalone not part of Retroarch. I do not have this issue with Mame standalone nor any of my Retroarch stuff. My main monitor uses HDMI to HDMI, and Marquee monitor uses DVI to Displayport, On a 4070TI card. Any suggestion? thanks in advance, CW

How do I get to the high score channel. I am on various retro arcade discord channels but cannot seem to find this one. Thanks in advance.

I Doubt if leaderboards works with Mame 2003. I am currently using MAME 0.244 (which is about a year old now). In the mame.ini file you need to have the following lines somewhere: autosave 0 cheat 0 nvram_save 1 plugins 1 plugin hiscore make sure mame is saving local highscores for your games. The hiscore.dat file needs to be the correct one for the version of mame you are using, and in the folder of where the *.hi files are saved. Also all of the dipswitch settings must be set to default or stock, otherwise the high score for that particular game will not be uploaded. Some games have particular nuances in order to have upload score. Some require starting a new game before exiting, others require the local high score table to appear in attract mode before playing, among others. It is also possible for the .hi game file and/or nvram game folder to get corrupted. deleting either of these only removes your local high scores. That is all I can think off ATM.

At our local Arcade/Bar I frequent, Up/Down Bar in St. Louis Missouri, we keep track of the highest score achieved for the arcade machines. We have a card on each cabinet with the score and the players name. So far I have 34 highest scores out of 85 different games. Just mentioning this in case somebody thinks I cheat...

I have high scores on many with only a few players having played. These didn't have much of an impact on my ranking. Getting decent scores, sometimes just in top 50 or 100, on the most popular games did. I think but cannot be for sure, that the way Top Player ranking is calculated is simply this: For any given game. Total Number of Player Accounts having logged scores in that game - Your ranking in that game + 1. Then add these all up. So let's look at the most popular game Ms. Pac-Man. More than 650 different accounts are ranked in it (not sure of the exact amount, it could be 700+ by now). So if it's 650, and your ranked 110, that would give 650-110+1 = 541. If your the only one in an obscure game ranked, you get 1-1+1 = 1. Like I said, not sure if this is how they calculate it, but probably is from logical thinking.

Many of the games that can be continued have an ultimate ending, so it does still takes some skill to maximize score before the eventual end, just a different sort of skill. It's not a purist form of high scores like one credit per game (Which I prefer), but it cannot be enforced AFAIK with the current system. The other type of continue is just a straight up marathon. If you want to beat someone that played for 9 hours, you got to do the same for 10 hours. Rather boring. A lot of time wasted, when during the same amount of time, a decent player could get good scores on 20 different games. Reason why I much prefer late 70's, early 80's, arcade games. Not many games had continue feature. Or if it did, you started with zero points, Just not at the starting point. A 3rd method of "continuing" that games use.

I have two "glitched" scores from some sort of crashes in the past. I usually use my built arcade machine, but sometimes have used my laptop just using the attached keyboard. Both of these "glitched" high scores show an outrageous score. I think they happened from hitting wrong keys and crashing out of the game, and then stopping process in Task Manager. Both times I was using my laptop. One is Gunbarich (Gnbarich) with a score of 4,227,661,310. The other is Gunbird 2 (set 1 version) with a score of 1,212,762,699. In both instances I am tied for 1st with one other individual. Is there someone that can remove these errant high scores? I have seen scores like these on other games from different players also.

Awesome. This will be an incredible addition to the Launchbox forums, or additional site. Should eventually make it a much more popular forum to visit!
-
I am talking about the overall top player ranking across all MAME games. And would like to see a site or forum area that not just is for bragging rights, but also used to discuss problem solving of high scores being accepted for certain games. Some you must start a 2nd game, others you must wait in attract mode until high score table appears before playing, yet others must wait until high score table appears after playing your game, in order for high score to get uploaded. Would also be a great place to discuss game specific strategy and how to best optimize your controls for specific games.
-
Finally did it. Took the number 1 spot in leaderboards. Is there a social site to discuss various things for participants of the LaunchBox MAME community leader boards?
-
I agree, otherwise we need high score boards for every possible game setting. And this would be more than overwhelming. Having proper controls and setting them up correctly is really important to get high scores. A bit off topic, but still related to high scores. I wish there was a way reduce input lag in stock mame like you can in retroarch using FBNEO. This is really a problem on games like Centipede. At a local Arcade/Bar I frequent (Up/Down STL), I regularly score 600K +. I can barely clear 100K on mame. With FBNEO and run ahead tweaks, I can get around 300K. Still not like the real arcade Centipede, but better.
