@faeran I just noticed that multiple games in the collection suddenly started showing screenshots as the background. Can you check if the same is happening on your end? This is affecting games that have always had fanart - backgrounds. Tried reinstalling the theme to no avail.

I could be forgetting something, but I'm fairly sure LaunchBox doesn't track achievements from the Epic Games Store.
Thanks Faeran

Is this a known issue? I tried removing and re-importing and the achievement badge won't appear like it does for Steam games.

Being completely obsessed with game metadata, I use List View as my default view together with Faeran's Big Details theme. Then I create Playlists for each game series. For me, this is the perfect balance between showcasing media and data.

Great question, @AstroBob!
Here are a few things that I believe are essential to a successful remaster:- The game should be updated to run smoothly on modern hardware
- Any bugs, glitches, coding, or translation errors present in the original should be fixed
- Visuals/game engine should be improved as much as possible without changing the essence of the original; this might be the hardest part of any remaster
- Music/OSTs can be re-recorded using modern equipment
- Implement controller support but only for games where it makes sense
- Add online matchmaking or any community features (achievements etc.) wherever it makes sense to do so (don't overdo it)
- Have the ability to revert back to the original with the press of a button (such as in the Monkey Island remakes)
- Gameplay can be optimized for modern audiences to give a better feel; let's face it, things need to be more fast paced nowadays compared to how they were at the end of the 20th century
- Narrative should NEVER be changed: stories, unlike other game elements, are timeless; leave them alone
- Lastly and most importantly, always seek feedback from the community when planning a remaster; get an idea of what players actually want
Case in point:
DON'T DO THIS ❌ DO THIS ✅

My money's on the CD PROJEKT RED: THREE DECADES OF GAMING collection!
I don't think any devs are more deserving of an anniversary collection than them. The passion they put into their art, music, and storytelling is clear to see among their various hit titles. Release it together with the Witcher 4 and you've got one hell of an anniversary collection, guaranteed to attract the next generation of gamers!

I'm at work and I spent way longer on this than I expected lol. Top 5 of all time is too hard, I would prefer to choose the top 5 by Genre instead. But okay, if you twisted my arm about it then I'd say :
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Half-Life 2 + Episodes 1/2
- Warcraft 3 + Frozen Throne Expansion
- Diablo 2 + LOD
- Starcraft + Brood War
Yes yes I am a bit biased towards classic Valve and Blizzard 😁

Trine: A lesser known co-op side-scrolling puzzle game similar to The Lost Vikings ❄️
Nine Parchments: Another lesser known co-op puzzle game by the same developer (Frozenbyte) 🗞️
Left 4 Dead 2: Still one of the best multiplayer survival horror games to this day. The community is still strong and the gameplay never gets old! 🧟♂️
Unreal Tournament 2004: So many good memories 🚀
Warcraft 2: Used to play on LAN with my older brother back in the day, we'd create custom maps with lots of forests and then use our villagers to chop down trees and carve secret tunnels where we'd try to survive with a small army against the AI players😆 -
Glad to have you here AstroBob.
P.S - I love using Additional Apps as well, especially for Demo versions of games and also ones that use Trainers-

Another way might be to allow text / data / game names to show just the first X letters (like show max 30 letters) and the the rest of the name could be revealed by selecting the game or maybe pulling the dividers of the fields
Let's hope that more people request this change... we can't be the only two who love using List View! 😅🙏

OH yes, that would make my (default view=list view) Launchbox a bit better.
Editing column width and being able to save that, is a thing that I have asked before. Because some game names (and other content) are Very Long, and when I scroll down the list, the column resizes after the length of the games names... the column gets so wide, I can hardly see anything else.
In some frontends saving the column width works fine, I guess it will be easy to make an option for each column to have a user chosen size. Like stay fixed in the chosen width, when I drag it narrower, and later restart.

A year later.. still here hoping it gets implemented haha

Thanks @C-Beats! But I was looking at reverting from the 3D model back to a regular 2D image (the way it was before the update). Disabling the 3D model in the options removes the whole box front cover from Game Details. I thought maybe there would be a way to change this in the theme code.
-
It doesn't work well with my setup. @faeran I'm currently using Big Details, is there a way to edit the theme code to allow for this change?
-
I'd also like to see a way to lock column widths. I use List View a lot so it will be really helpful.
-
+1 to having this small feature implemented in List View.
You can edit the order of the columns but the sort order and the custom column widths are not saved when restarting LB. -
@faeran appreciate it. in the end I think it looks better in the middle, so am gonna keep it at default position. thanks!

Lots of ways, however, all of them would require you to dig into the code and move it to where you want.
If you want to adventure in, I can try and help guide you in how to do it.
Could you? I'm still on the fence over whether it's a good idea since it does seem to look better when aligned in the middle along with the other elements. Kinda just want to see how it looks with the logo over on the far left side or possibly bottom left corner (similar to Steam), right above the home and media buttons.
Screenshot attached for reference. -
@faeran Is there any way to adjust the position of the clear logo?
-
An answer to this question would be great, I've wondered about the same myself. The current built-in PDF viewer is not that pleasant to work with.

@neil9000 I'm trying to setup the Pause screen for my Dosbox games but nothing's working. Enabled and setup the hotkey in the global options menu, set it to P. In- game nothing happens when I press. What am I doing wrong here? I checked the compatibility list you posted and Dosbox is supported. Am I supposed to insert some code somewhere? Cheers

You have way more columns displayed than can reasonably fit, right click the upper letters (the column headers) and uncheck items until you get to a number of columns that you can actually read/use
I didn't even realize you could right click, lol. Thanks man! Any idea about the font size or does that have to do with my PC resolution?

+1 to having this added.
Is this really a difficult feature to implement?
