  1. I've added a few MS-DOS games and love the box images, however some of the games have a rotatable 3D box, but not an individual 3D Box image (for the "3D Boxes" image group). Long shot but is it at all possible to create a single 3D Box image from the rotatable 3D box? And in bulk?! Most of the rotatable 3D Box images look perfect for the "3D Boxes" image group!
  2. I'm sure there'll be differing opinions on this and definitely no right/wrong answer but my personal preference is for RetroArch to be vanilla and kind of a slave to LaunchBox. So for me, RetroArch has no preferences set at all other than the style of the menu (PS2) and almost all options set to the defaults, and the CLI from LB to RA dictates the shader to use, and the overlay (the RetroLust overlay) to use. This way I can set the overlay to use on a platform-by-platform basis (not a core-by-core basis). But each to their own for sure. Definitely take a copy of your retroarch.cfg file (if it's not already too late), as when I was messing about trying to get the overlays to work I mucked up my cfg file and had to recover it from a backup.
  3. I'm not sure what others do but in LaunchBox I select Tools > Manage > Emulators > RetroArch > Associated Platforms, then for each platform in the "Extra Command-Line Parameters" text boxes I input: -f --appendconfig "location_of_your_overlay.cfg" --set-shader "location_of_your_shader.slangp" The overlay is the Mr. RetroLust config file (although for some reason I had to play with the x/y/w/h co-ords of each one to get the emulated screen to fit inside the TV image - I'm sure it's something I'd done wrong) and in the default RetroArch config file I had to add: config_save_on_exit = "false" so that all the above appendconfig didn't spam your config file. The shader is your choice of shader if you want one - the RetroArch defaults are plenty for my personal preferences.
  4. Just wanted to echo the comments over the months and years and say thank you so much for these amazing overlays!! They really do bring the consoles to life
  5. It seemed to fix itself, still using the Default Plus theme. Happy days!
  6. Thanks C-Beats. I didn’t think that different themes may/may not remember. I’ll experiment with a couple of others to see if they do remember.
  7. I've just downloaded these amazing Lights Out overlays for RetroArch and notice that the shader preset used for the game screen itself is no longer supported. I've tried other slang ones which look ok but the scales/offsets are always incorrect due to each platform overlay having a different sized TV image. Does anyone use the Lights Out overlays successfully with slang CRT-style shaders? Also, is it possible to pass the platform-specific overlay config filename from Launchbox to RetroArch, e.g. in the "manage emulators -> associated platforms" dialog like you can with shaders (e.g. --set-shader)?
  8. Just updated to 13.6 and noticed that the width that I drag both the left panel (platforms) and the right panel (game details) doesn't get remembered the next time I start up LB. They both go quite narrow when I start up again. Using the Default Plus theme. Can't remember if it used to do this or not...?
  9. Sorry to resurrect this thread - I noticed that when updating to MAME 0.251 and 0.252, LB imports the machine bios files again (like "10R Rockwell" and "18R: Memory"). Just to make sure I wasn't missing anything I pretended to do another Import MAME Full Set and I couldn't see any option not to import bios files. What have I done wrong?
  10. Hi - is there a way to only download certain media categories on a per-platform basis? What I mean is, in my Arcade platform for example, I don't want any cart images/disc images/etc. but I do want to have screenshots and box images, however in my Atari Jaguar platform I do want to have cartridge images. I know these are controlled by the tick boxes when importing media of course, but is there a way to fix different settings to different platforms, or do I just need to remember what to tick and what to untick whenever I do an image refresh? Many thanks for any help.
  11. Hi - is there any way of keeping a record of your high score, other than an Excel spreadsheet or using pen and paper? I'm thinking across all platforms, not just the MAME highscore, or the retro achievements functionality. I was hoping there'd be something where you can just type in your high score to keep a record of it (being honest of course!) so you can try to beat it next time you play.
  12. Thanks JoeViking - I think you're right, just excluding the folders from the backup is easiest. Thanks for your response
  13. Hi everyone, my first post here. Loving LaunchBox and especially the community. Came to LB after abandoning GameBase due to sadly not being able to get it working with Windows 11. Anyway, all my LB is set up on an external USB drive, and I use SyncBackPro to mirror it onto another external USB drive for backup. When I did my first backup I noticed it had naturally copied over hundreds of megs of cached images from the Cache-LB and -BB folders. I thought it would be good if I could clear out all temporary folders/files from my primary LB installation before backing up, just to save time and a gigabyte or so. Is there an easy way to do this, other than writing a simple .bat file to clear out the \LaunchBox\Images\Cache-LB and \Cache-BB folders? Also are there any other temporary files I could remove? I realise I can exclude certain folders from the backup profile but I thought it'd be good to freshen up my primary system at the same time. Thanks for any help
