Thanks Wanderer. Can you explain those issues in more detail? I'm not following.
-
I've finally reproduced RULLUR's issue. I think it might have to do with relative paths that are custom.
-
Can you attach one of the video files here? Do they play in an external video player?
-
What do you have checked in your video priorities? What are the categories of the videos in question?

Beta 6 is out now with the following: Translation updates Fix for some possible null reference errors Fix for possible issues with mount saving

11.0-beta-5 - Error on setting default game version
Jason Carr replied to DarkStalker's topic in Beta Testing
Thanks @DarkStalker. This should be fixed in beta 6, which I'm about to put out. -
@Cauptain @alexposad Thanks guys. I have the translations in for the next beta. Should be out shortly.
-
No worries Kondorito. Thanks for the update. We may release tomorrow morning depending on testing.

Hi Gill, we're having trouble reproducing this as an issue. First off, I would recommend not setting games up like that, because it's much cleaner and easier just to use the built-in DOSBox features than to force it yourself. Regardless, I happen to own DOOM on GOG, and actually set up a new game with the exact same settings (same application path and parameters) as you posted above, and it worked just fine, so I'm lost on this one. If you want to pursue this further, please zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder.

If I recall correctly, this is just a necessity of the dynamic box sizing feature. If you turn off dynamic box sizing, it should work as you're expecting.

@RULLUR @ZeSystem We'll look into the video issues. That said, we are nearing the official release, and we have no plans to change up the dialog to remove any extra clicks. I'm 100% positive that we're not going to turn anyone away from LaunchBox with a single extra click in the new add/edit dialog. I'm sorry you're displeased, but I want to make it clear that we have no plans of restructuring the dialog.

Sorry for the long delay here @alnyden. I don't see anything going wrong with Berzerk or Galaxian, but I do see that no new high scores are being found. Are you sure that you're actually achieving new high scores for those games (and that the game's high scores tables are changing)? I would check to see if the nvram or hi files for those games are actually being updated after achieving a new high score on the board. If not, that would probably be a MAME issue somehow.

Beta 5 is out now with the following: Translation updates Add/edit window no longer waits to save the entire XML before closing (to match the previous version), which results in much quicker closing Add/edit window fields are now focused correctly during validation Add/edit additional application page is now updated after editing an additional app Add/edit additional application page "Make Default" should now work properly Add/edit browse file/folder operations will now open to the correct path if one is set Thanks all for the reports. This isn't likely a beta issue. Can you create a new thread and mention me? We'll need as much info as possible on the issue in order to help. This is not likely beta related. I'm not aware of any code that changed that should be affecting that performance. This was fixed in beta 4.

Thank you all; I have the translation packages in for beta 5, which should be out shortly.

It's that time again guys. Beta 4 (which just went out) is feature-complete; we're hoping to put out the next official release early next week. @Opak @cyanjiang @Bardock @MajKSA @gamehacker @Cauptain @Kondorito @Nyny77 @alexposad @k_kutsugi @dukeemu Thanks all and have a great weekend.
-
Thank you @alexposad and @Cauptain. Unfortunately I didn't see these before the beta 4 release, but we'll get them into the next one (assuming we do put out another beta).

Beta 4 is out now with the following: Fix for download media possible null reference error Sorted media downloads alphabetically on the download media form Hopeful fix for the GOG import issues Fix for duplicated video files issue (when using manually specified videos) Clean up media should now work properly with the new video categories Fix for the disabled search button issue (in add/edit) Updated all folder browsers in the add/edit screen to use the full file browser Thanks to everyone for finding all the issues here. Our apologies for the issues with video file duplication (if you happened to experience it). You may have to restore your data from a backup in that case if you want to keep your videos only in the previous locations (then you should be able to just delete the newly-created video files).
-
No, other than weird Internet hiccups. So I would say any issues there are likely to go away. If they don't, let me know. If you continue to have the other issues you've been having, it may be best to restore from a recent working backup. LaunchBox automatically creates data backups of all your data and you can easily restore one from the Tools menu.

Beta 3 is out now with the following: New Feature: You can now take screenshots that will automatically be associated with your games; see Tools > Options > Screen Capture in LaunchBox or under Controller Mappings or Keyboard Automation in Big Box New Feature: A new IGameConfiguringPlugin interface has been added that will allow plugin developers to tell when a game's configuration application is being launched, has launched, or has closed, just like IGameLaunchingPlugin Added drag and drop to the new game add/edit dialog for videos and images Escape now works with the new game add/edit dialog Added a tutorial video link for the new OBS Studio integration (in the LaunchBox options) Various other minor fixes/improvements for the new game add/edit dialog

It's hard to say for certain, but these issues don't sound like anything that's related to the beta version. Rather, they're more likely data issues, or just issues from not waiting long enough for things to save. If it gets stuck updating from the games database, that's a connection issue (or I suppose possibly a server issue, but I'm not aware of any server issues recently). When you talk about it getting stuck on saving, most often this means it's just taking a long time. This can be caused by killing the app prematurely. The app saves data during the exit process, which continues after the window closes. So if you kill the app during that process, then things won't save properly.

Is the error happening immediately after you change the drop down, before you even hit OK?
-
Unfortunately I think that would be way too much extra effort for an extra click or two. @Pixel The game details side bar will show the most prioritized video available for that game, according to the video priority settings. We can probably add functionality to allow viewing more than one video in the game details side bar, but it probably won't make it into this release. Per that error, are you getting that error when hitting the OK button? We haven't been able to replicate it as of yet.

I know lots of people use Big Box and emulators with the Steam Link, yes; it's a fairly common usage scenario. I haven't done it myself, though, so I can't really add any tips or tricks. It might be worth searching the forums though, because there's probably been quite a bit of discussion on it over the years.
-
Thank you very much @faeran for figuring that out; my apologies to @Android16 for the confusion. I will get the documentation updated. I'm not sure if that CoverFactory binding is required everywhere or not, but I'll definitely add it to the documentation.

Yes, we're working on that.
