That's still the wrong name... The problem here is that I can't trust what you're saying, because either you're mistyping everything, or you don't have the right names to begin with (there's a dash on the end of that file name). So how can I even know if we're referring to the same thing?
-
@Android16 I downloaded your theme RAR file. I have not tested it, but my guess is that it's not working because the name of the "Black Rock Shooter - The Game-01.png" file does not exactly match the name of the game. It has to match exactly for the CustomImageType feature to work.
-
"Banners" does not match the "Steam Banner" value you put into the CustomImageType field. The folder doesn't match up... Edit: Looks like you edited the above post so that it matches now. I'm also confused why you added 'My Theme' in single quotes. Please give me the actual exact values and folders that you're using, or I can't help.

Where are the image files that you're trying to load located? Do they follow the paths from the documentation?
-
Take a look at the theming documentation (LaunchBox\Themes\Documentation.pdf) under CustomImageType. I'll paste it here: CustomImageType is used for loading a theme-specific set of images from a folder, not for loading images from your LaunchBox collection.

Hi Dwayne, when bulk-importing games, we can't just choose the first match, because we'd end up with many false positives and bad matches. A bad match is far worse than not matching a game to the database, so in the situation where we can't be certain that we have the right game, we just leave it unmatched.

I need the specific code you're using for CustomImageType. Not gonna dig through the entire theme.

As of just recently, there have been some significant developments with .NET and Linux Wine that *might* make it feasible for WPF applications, and thus LaunchBox (and who knows, maybe even Big Box) to run well enough on Linux. I do have plans to evaluate this here soon and see what can be done. I am excited about it, but I'm also a little bit skeptical. Very much hoping it works out though. It wouldn't be the same as a native Linux app, but if we can get it to run well enough under Wine, it would be a pretty big deal.

Great idea @joshchawks; I'll put this on the list for the next community poll.

@Android16 The CustomImageType addition has been proven to work at this point, so most likely it's just not being used correctly if you're having trouble getting it to work. Can you post your code?
-
The new update would not create a ghost platform category in any way that I can think of. Unfortunately it sounds like you have something unrelated going on with your collection. Let's discuss your customimagetype issue in the XAML thread you also posted in; I don't think there's any real issue there either, but I'll dive into that over there.

Beta 2 is out now with the following: New Feature: OBS Studio integration has been added, which allows you to easily record videos and automatically assign them to your games; take a look under Tools > Options > Integrations > OBS Studio in LaunchBox New Feature: Multiple videos can now be associated with your games, and videos can now be categorized under four categories: Video Snap, Theme Video, Trailer, and Recording. These categories can also be prioritized (like images) under Tools > Options > Media > Video Priorities. New Feature: New options have been added to all download media and import processes to remove roughly-matched duplicate images, similar to the Clean Up Media addition. This should reduce the need to run the Clean Up Media process, as unnecessary duplicate images will automatically be removed during imports and media downloads. Improvement: The game add/edit dialog has been completely overhauled to allow for future flexibility and fixes a number of usability issues with the previous version (such as the multi-select dropdowns) We plan to add one more feature before the official release: automatic screenshots. They're mostly done already, but need to go through our internal testing process yet. For OBS Studio integration, we will be putting out a tutorial before the official release, but here's some guidelines: You'll need to install the latest version of OBS Studio yourself You'll need to go into the OBS settings and add hotkeys for start and stop recording You can configure OBS to record whatever you want (screen, aspect ratio, etc.) Once OBS is configured, you can go into the LaunchBox options and fill in the fields Finally, during a game, you can use the OBS hotkey to start and stop recording Upon returning to LaunchBox or Big Box, you'll be prompted to associate any completed video recordings with the game that you just played

My apologies, but I can't prioritize this currently. It's just not at all a common request.

Thanks for the report @Wanderer189. There are a couple of possibilities here: one is that somehow file system permissions aren't allowing LaunchBox to move the file, or it is somehow in use by another application. I don't think it's possible that LaunchBox could be using all of those files, so it looks like there must be some kind of outside influence. I could be wrong though; has anyone else run into this issue?

FYI all, the new video capture features have drifted far and away from what we originally envisioned them as. We're now settling on a simple OBS integration feature. We wanted to just make everything work out of the box, and tried several different methods, but it's clear that nothing works as well and provides as many configuration options as OBS. On top of that, OBS works so well these days that we felt like we were reinventing the wheel for no reason. As a result, much of the code has been tossed and we are just creating a simple option to integrate with OBS. The advantages are many, including the ability to basically customize anything you want with the videos, record only part of the screen, etc., and no one will be shoehorned into using a less-than-ideal screen recording method. The only disadvantage to this is that OBS will need to be manually set up and configured by the user in order for it to be useful. That said, OBS has come a long ways and it's really easy to do these days. Once configured, the end result will be the same: you'll be able to start and stop recordings with a hotkey, and they'll be automatically added to the current game in LaunchBox.

You will have some settings but very little. We're not looking to become a video editing suite. Regardless, the videos will be high quality and it'll work plenty well enough.
-
No, it definitely will not replace EmuMovies. Keep in mind that EmuMovies' videos require editing, picking the best clips, etc. They all end with the title screen and have a bunch of other nice things about them. Simply recording basic screen captures will not replace EmuMovies, obviously. I guess if you wanted to put in the work to edit clips together and everything, you could get there, but that's kind of the point of EmuMovies (so you don't have to).

BigBox: Pause key stops invoking the pause screen
Jason Carr replied to Belmont's topic in Beta Testing
We're hoping so. Thanks to @C-Beats. -
There are way more storefronts out there than most of us realize. We've done the big ones recently, and we'll get to the smaller ones, but as for right now, it's not exactly a priority. Videos will work pretty much exactly like images with priorities and categories. Yes, this too. This is a known issue, and has never really been solved by any frontend, ever (not even Rocket Launcher). Unfortunately it's not possible to magically just make it work for all Windows games, because every Windows game is so different from every other Windows game. What we have currently is pretty much the best you can do without custom programming for each and every Windows game ever made.

Thanks, this should be fixed now. Please enable debug logs in the LaunchBox options (see the first post of this thread). Then you can look in the log file to see what's happening.

The first 11.0 beta is out now here:
-
Hey all, the first 11.0 beta is out now with the following: New Feature: The Clean Up Media process has a new option to scan images for rough matches. This new option can make the clean up media process take an extremely long time, but will save you loads of disk space in your collection, especially if you download media both from the LaunchBox Games Database and from EmuMovies. The process identifies duplicate images in your collection even if they are different sizes, faded, etc. The largest duplicate image is kept, and the rest are listed for deletion. Improvement: GOG game install state changes will now auto-update for games installed via the GOG Galaxy client Fixed: When using All Games as your startup view in Big Box, sometimes the alphanumeric index was not populating correctly Fixed: Corrected an issue with the pause key bindings that may be causing them to fail Fixed: The Play Mode filter in LaunchBox was not working properly when multiple play modes were selected In addition to the above, we have the following in the works for the 11.0 release: Automatic recording of video snaps via hotkeys Automatic screenshot capturing Multiple video support Overhaul of the Add/Edit interface Much of the above is already finished or nearly finished, but as they're all tied together, it will be a bit before a beta comes out with the bottom four. The Add/Edit overhaul is taking a bit more time than we expected.

The first 10.16 beta will most likely be out this week. It's just that we've been working on some big features that take more development time than usual.

We send out the link to the poll in an email. So unless you've unsubscribed to the monthly email newsletters, you should see it.

Playlist Display in BigBox and Fake platform ?
Jason Carr replied to damyx's topic in Website/Forum Support
@damyx To do this, all you have to do is use the Platform Categories view. You can customize the view hierarchy in LaunchBox (you don't have to use the default platform categories).
