  1. Hi @Codeen

I'm on MAME 0.206 and my Neo-Geo CDZ games play just fine. Just retested Double Dragon.

Regarding your Neo_Geo CDZ (US) bios not showing in the UI.
With MAME 0.206, when you select the BIOS filter, the centre window lists all the arcade bios whether you have them or not. It does not show the bios for the console/computer stuff like Neo-Geo CDZ (US), Intellivision, Odyssey 2, ColecoVision (NTSC) and so on.
The Available filter, which lists what you actually have, will show any non arcade bios you have such as your Neo-Geo CDZ (US) one.
By the way, the Neo-Geo CDZ (US) bios (neocdz.zip) hasn't changed since late 2017.

  2. MAME arcade roms and software list roms should never be placed in the same folder, as some of these games have identical rom names but completely different internals.

A bit out of my depth here, but I do remember that when MESS was independent of MAME, the various software list roms were supposed to go in folders named after the systems.
I don't know if this applies to the MAME/MESS all in one we have today as I don't use software lists; the simpler console/computer media approach is just fine for me.

  3. I currently use standalone MAME 0.205 (mame64.exe) to emulate ColecoVision (console media not sw list).
The system's romset aka bios, coleco.zip should contain the two files
    colecoa.rom
    313 10031-4005 73108a.u2

The Default Command-Line Parameters for LaunchBox are
    coleco -cart

When using MAME to emulate ColecoVision, MAME must know via it's configuration settings (ini file) where coleco.zip is.

The actual ColecoVision games can be anywhere, as long as LaunchBox itself is pointed to them.

The games can have the normal ColecoVision naming or be renamed to the MAME short naming, and be zipped or not.
    Example:
Miner 2049er Starring Bounty Bob (USA).col
    can be renamed as
    mine2049.col
    both will work with MAME

You can also do things such as zipping a Coleco named game and renaming the zip as the MAME short name.
Miner 2049er Starring Bounty Bob (USA).col zipped as mine2049.zip

  4. I'm aware of the options at the screen bottom. However, changing the theme is temporary, as exiting and reopening the site defaults the theme.
Hopefully Jason will extend solid backgrounds to the text in the All Activity main screen (and post previews) in line with the other views.

  5. The forums default theme has now been set to Invaders and it's not too distracting for most views. However, the All Activity view is now see-through and confusing, especially as this view is text based and needs a solid background. Is there any chance that this can be addressed, or else the original Dark theme can once again be made the default?

By the way, when previewing this post, I've encountered the new theme background which makes reading text difficult.

  6. If you've deleted your 3D boxes and added your new ones and the new ones show in LaunchBox but BigBox is still showing the old, now deleted ones, then BigBox has the old ones cached.
In BigBox go to Options, Images Cache and refresh all images.
If the old images still show, then close and restart BigBox and see if the new ones now show.

  7. Konami Arcade Games 3D Boxes

    View File

A collection of 3D boxes in UGC format for arcade games made by Konami. These are just sourced flyers with homemade spines.
This is not a full collection by any means as some titles are absent due to no suitable flyers found. As well as that, I've omitted the Casino, Endeavour and Dance/Rhythm/Music stuff.
The boxes are mainly parent, although clones are included where either a suitable parent flyer couldn't be sourced or a clone flyer differed from it's parent and appealed to me.

  8. As of the 0.201 build, MAME has changed how it implements QSound and the device qsound_hle.zip is now required.
If you fail to source qsound_hle.zip you can just copy qsound.zip (make sure it contains the file dl-1425.bin and not the obsolete qsound.bin) and rename the copy as qsound_hle.zip

I don't know if qsound.zip is now obsolete under MAME 0.201/202, but all my CPS2 games audit and work without it as long as qsound_hle.zip is present.

  9. I have only one install of MAME, currently MAME 0.202 build.
Perhaps someone on MAME 0.201 who has updated to 0.202 might do a test using both the MAME GUI launcher and the LaunchBox launcher before installing the latest neogeo.zip just to confirm or  refute what I got?

  10. I updated from MAME 0.201 to 0.202 and all my Neo Geo games failed audit and refused to launch via MAME's GUI reporting that the file sp1-u4.bin was missing, but LaunchBox still launched them. When I grabbed the latest neogeo.zip with the file sp1-u4.bin included, then all the games passed audit and launched via MAME's GUI.
    What else can I say?

  11. The MAME 0.202 build has added the US MVS (U4) bios (sp1-u4.bin) to it's Neo Geo bios requirements.
If you've updated to the MAME 0.202 build and your neogeo.zip is missing this file, then your Neo Geo games will fail audit and won't launch via MAME's own GUI. However, they will still play in LaunchBox. It seems that LaunchBox can be very accommodating at times.

  12. Cave Arcade Games 3D Boxes

    View File

A collection of 3D box fronts for games developed by Cave.
These are just flyers, posters etc with basic spines added and are in UGC case format.
I took the liberty of badging the spines with the Cave logo rather than the individual publishers such as AMI, Atlus, Capcom and so on, as this appealed to me.

Two games, Omatsuri Yasan: Kingyo Sukui and Omatsuri Yasan: Ganso Takoyaki are missing as I couldn't find any images of them.
