  1. Hi folks, thanks for the excellent bezel project packs.
Just curious if you are aware of an issue regarding the bezelprojectSA-GCEVectrex bezel pack.
The two bezels named below appear to have the wrong image at top right - they show Polar Rescue instead of Pole Position.

    Pole Position (USA) (C10F37D8).png

  2. I doubt if you can do that in LaunchBox, at least not in an easy way.
You could use an image editor to either resize without aspect preserving or crop your screen shot to have a portrait look similar to the flyers, but you'll end up with an image that will be either distorted or missing parts. This may not be too bad with DD Crew, but Darius being a triple screen game has a very wide full screen snap.

Personally, I think that the two flyers for Darius are just fine, especially the Japanese one. They both seem on a par with flyers for lots of games, and flyers are probably the closest you'll get to the traditional box cover look for Arcade games.

  3. @superdavit

Your images for Darius and D.D. Crew appear to be game snapshots.
Both of those games have LaunchBox Database images to suit you (Advertisement Flyers).
Open Game Edit and then click on Download Images/Media. Download the Advertisement Flyers, and set the one you prefer to be a Box Front. You can then delete any you don't want.

  4. After a bit of testing of some chd games that do not have a working rom I've found that where the chd folder and chd file share the same name (games such as Night Raid and XII Stag) I can launch a game by pointing LaunchBox at the actual chd file.

But where they differ (such as with Chaos Heat and Shanghai Sangokuhai Tougi), then pointing to the chd file will not work for me. I need to either point to the chd folder or else make a dummy zip of the non existing working rom and point to that.

  5. MAME GCE Vectrex Software System Artwork File for use with the "bezelprojectSA-GCEVectrex" bezels pack

    View File

    Note before downloading:
This is for MAME only and is not compatible with RetroArch.

This custom version of the GCE Vectrex Software System artwork file, vectrex.zip contains a multi-view lay file configured to work with the "bezelprojectSA-GCEVectrex" bezels pack. Any game associated with the pack can be set to display it's own bezel at launch. Games for which there are no Bezel Project bezels and therefore use Default Command-Line Parameters will open with the generic bezel GCE-Vectrex.png.

The bezel images are not included, so you will need to download the pack and drop the bezels into the artwork vectrex.zip yourself.
You will also need to set LaunchBox Custom Command-line Parameters to allow MAME to choose the correct bezel for each game. This is explained in the download.

The vectrex.zip artwork file will work whether you are emulating using direct media calling (such as games with the bin, gam or vec extension) or emulating using the vectrex software list.

With MAME, your GCE Vectrex game names and their bezel image names do not have to match. The actual matching relationship is between the Custom Command Line <viewname> parameter and the descriptive <view name> string used in the lay, and MAME will accept a partial match with the lay's view name.

Once downloaded, unzip the file MAME GCEVectrex SA.zip and read the enclosed text files.

  8. Hi Christian and welcome to our community.

That Mr. Carr can be a hard taskmaster. If it was up to me you would be a 1024 Quantum Computer with your own office and an Administrator sign on the door.
Why I might even assign Neil as your private secretary.

  9. To add the TTL game Rebound to your Arcade platform in LaunchBox where the game rom doesn't exist in the MAME romset, select Add and in the Edit Game window set the Title to Rebound, select the emulator, say MAME and then in the Launcher tab Rom File (Emulation is enabled) box just type in the game name, rebound.

  10. If your build of MAME is 0.116 or newer, then the dkong.zip sound samples file is no longer needed.
As of MAME 0.116 Donkey Kong uses discrete sound emulation, and the sound samples if present will be ignored by MAME.
With an older build such as MAME 0.078, Donkey Kong needs a sound samples file. See link.

    http://samples.mameworld.info/

When you go to the linked site, select Older Samples.

  11. I use the default BigBox theme and can only post for that.
That area normally shows a preview video of a game. If no video is available, then it shows a screenshot of the game.
If you aren't using game videos then in LaunchBox select Tools, Options and in Screenshot Priorities, set Box - Back to have top priority. You may then need to Refresh All Images within BigBox.

  12. I doubt very much that LaunchBox/BigBox can interract with another frontend as you would like.

LaunchBox/BigBox can launch another frontend no problem, as all you're doing here is treating the other frontend's executable as an application similar to, say, a Windows game.
The other frontend, however, needs a platform and I don't believe that LaunchBox or BigBox can detect that a platform contains just one "game" and have it launch directly by clicking on the platform.

Just out of curiosity, what is your other frontend?
