  1. Would this ROMLISTER program be able to bulk remove certain ROMs from my mame collection that i don't want, for example Lightgun games or trackball games? Or is there a way i could do it thru Launchbox? https://www.waste.org/~winkles/ROMLister/
  2. Just been on a 3week holiday and i took my Portable Arcade machine with me, everything seemed to work very well appart from the odd hick up when an internet connection was required. I now have a LAN this weekend that hosts over 800 like minded pc gamers, hopefully i can draw some attention to my setup and get some new members interested or to join/purchase LaunchBox.
  3. I was in the same boat as you DOS76, after watching Brads tutorial video i decided to migrate as many of my systems to RA, i just love the controller support and being able to save and load states all by the controller no keyboard needed which is exactly what im aiming for in my build 100% controller supported, also that rewind feature i must admit gets used way to much ;) i have it mapped to the "back"/"select" button on my 360 controller. While there are ceartain games i still run on ceartian emulators ild say 80% of my library is run via RA, im also currently working on some custom bezels for each system as well. I do still have issues with certain psx games but i think it may just be a bad rip of the game....... Next is to get into MAME @SentaiBrad did you metion in your last tut you were working on a MAME tutorial?
  4. DOS76 said Yeah I would have to agree with @CADScott on this one. Why would you want a PI3 over a real gaming PC, one that plays PC games and all available emulated systems? Only real reason would be price point. while you could get a decent emulation machine for older systems with a PI3 its still not going to be able to do what a real PC can do. I have a Ouya and a few Android phones setup to run emulators and they work fine for that but they aren't on par with having a half way decently specced modern PC. Plus only Windows runs LaunchBox and that is reason enough to get a PC to run your emulation needs.
Yea this is my exact reason for choosing a PC over a PI3, i have the latest n great PC games on my mini rig there +thousands of retro games. The pc is an all in one everything its bloody great, and what awsome about it its very couch friendly as in it all works with either my remote or a controller, for example everyday after work i like to catch up on my youtube subscribers so when i get home i flik on my htpc it boots up and i grab my remote, then navigate to the youtube Kodi app and watch a few youtube vids, then i back out of that and check who is streamimg on twitch, then when my flatemate gets home i navegate to Dirt Rally and we have turn by turn on each track, then an epic moment happens and i push the reord button on my remote and record and upload the last 1:30 to youtube and this is all via a remote or controller.... soo happy with the build. By the way here is the epic moment from night https://youtu.be/t6tyEz21CGA
  5. Jason Carr said Just put out a new beta to address some of the issues with the game loading popup. I finally saw it happen once where the interface didn't refresh after returning from a game. Let me know what issues remain. :)
Awesome ill pop on now m ill see how it goes
  6. Bumma, i spoke too soon. While the loading game pop up is realy cool n all it wont go away once i push select+start to close current window so once i close the game/emulator im stuck at a loading game screen. :(
  7. Jason Carr said New beta is out with support for extracting 7z, rar, and zipped ROM files as well as a new optional popup in Big Box when starting games (prevents kids from starting multiple copies of a game). :)
Dude i love this touch that you added
  8. Bedwyr said The latest Windows 10 update (KB3140768) according to a Kodi user seems to have fixed most or all of the issues regarding XBox One controllers. I've tried plugging one in and so far so good. Kodi responds normally with no inappropriate mapping or bizarre analog input behavior. Big Box likewise responds well and normally. I've tested Retroarch with a SNES core loading FFII and controls respond normally. This is in response to the weird remapping issue that came with the big wireless XB1 release in Oct or Nov. That update appears to have remapped control inputs to something distinct from the 360, notably changing the axes the L and R triggers are on causing unusual control responses and sometimes no control responses. This appears so far to have been fixed. I cannot speak to the nVidia issues in the other thread. That may be a different problem, perhaps unique to a recent video driver update. It's not clear to me what's happening. The Kodi thread: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=202869&page=5
Sweet, ill try my wireless x1 controller +chatpad when i get home... alltho im still using kodi 15.something is it worth upgrading to 16?
  9. I had this issue, my ssd was filling up and i wanted to move some large collections to a HDD. Here is what i did it only takes a few seconds ( well depending on the size of the folder you want to move ). Download this program, what it does is moves the folder/files you want to move to your new drive but it will leave a symbolic folder behind so that launchbox still thinks those files/folder is still on the original drive but in fact it on another drive. https://dirlinker.codeplex.com/
  10. Update 3 So like i had said before, i added my new GPU but the heat was too much 80C on GPU and 65-70C on the m.2 ssd so as you can see in the linked pictures i did some case moding and added some fans. Temps are now much better and the ssd runs way cooler like 40C... oh i also went to the local hardware store ( bunnings ) and purchased some like draw handles to use as some larger legs to let the new fans breathe better. http://imgur.com/a/DCfzq
  11. Not sure if you guys would be able to help as this is a Nvidia problem i am trying to solve not a problem with Launchbox. Ok so i have kodi launching over/before explorer.exe so windows never actual boots up so kodi, steam and xpadder are all launched via a .bat file with "start" commands to each application and i also would like to have the "geforce share" feature launch as well so i can record my games once they are launched via the front end but i cannot work out how to do this. With this command line i can start Shadowplay but it always starts disabled Start "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA GeForce Experience\GFExperience.exe" -ShadowPlay How could i achieve this with the share feature? here is a link to the share beta if anyone is interested http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/gfe-beta
  12. Here are a few Suggestions to brainstorm over. Community Showcase: - This could be a video series to showcase user submitted setups (Hardware/software) that use LaunchBox/Bigbox, here is an example from TechSource https://youtu.be/qQa-zjHO9lw?t=26s Retro Mod/Hack Series - This could be a series that looks into all sorts of mods/hacks for emulation/retro gaming. As an example 007 - GoldenEye has many apon many new single player levels, game tweaks, Multiplayer levels and even a entire new game as a mod, or you could look at comparing custom texture packs against vanilla textures like this awesome guy has done in a few of his videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51UEGkLdWGU And yea a NEWS segment would be pretty good aswell.
  13. You could almost do a video segment on all the updates/things to come in the emulation world. Off the top head here are some recent updates to talk about. PPSSPP 1.2 EPSE 2.0 Retroarch 1.3 Dolphins Direct x 12 support Retroarchs Vulkan support RPCS3 Vulkan support
  14. Apparently my main gripe with this emulator is fixed as well it no longer has that issue of running in the background when you exit wrongly. Also so much other emulation news its overwhelming, Dx12 support,Vulkan support and numerous emulators updating.. https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/468hlg/epsxe_20_for_windows_have_been_released/
  15. This is how i do it, this is just a copy past from the interwebs but you can pretty much do it with any programe, i do it with Kodi and Launch BigBox thru Kodi. Making Registry Edits so that Steam runs as your shell ============================================== This is the trickier bit and involves some commitment to Steam on your part, though is easily reversible - it will make Steam run instead of your normal Windows Desktop after Windows has booted and you've logged in. 1. Bring up the Windows 'Run' dialogue box, either from the Start Menu or by pressing your Windows key and R at the same time. 2. Type 'regedit' and click OK. 3. Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] 4. Right click in the folder pane to the right and select 'New > String Value' 5. Name it 'Shell.' 5. Right click on 'Shell' and select 'Modify.' 6. Type in the path to Steam.exe and click OK. By default on a 64 bit system the full path will be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe” - personally I just have Steam installed at root - "C:\Steam" :) ========================================================== Part 3 (optional): Setup your PC to automatically login to your Windows account ========================================================== If you are not a complete security nut and only have one account on your PC, you can set it up to automatically login, so you don't have to select a user and/or type a password. Instructions for this varies according to your Windows version. See here for full information: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/f/auto-login-windows.htm NOW REBOOT YOUR PC AND CROSS YOUR FINGERS YOU DID IT ALL OKAY! Whilst waiting for your PC to boot up, grab your Xbox 360 Controller and turn it on ready to navigate that lovely Steam Big Picture Mode. ============== Troubleshooting etc ============== If you get only a black screen with a cursor instead, or your gamepad doesn't work, or whatever, press control+alt+delete and select 'Task Manager.' Go to File>New Task (Run) and type "explorer.exe" - this should bring back your regular desktop until you log in again. You can also use this method to access Windows if you want to do anything else. Go back and check that you made all the registry edits exactly right. To remove the Steam bootingness, just delete the 'Shell' entry you added.
