  1. Super Famicom and SNES are the same platform. No need for this, bad decision that leads to duplicate entries. We need regional info on games, not split with regional platform games. STOP DOING THIS! The better choice to avoid duplicates is, to add only 1 entry with regional data on this, languajes, regional releases, names covers, etc. With this workarround if we have some undetected duplicate games on our romsets, undetected because customized western games or other changes, the scrapping classifies as the same ame and we can delete or merge into some type of launch eur version, launch us version, etc. creating two platform entries for regional is a mess, and don't have sense, what's the criteria to add a snes game into super famicom entry? Only available on japan? Only on japanese? If the game is translated into english with fanbase translation is a snes o superfamicom game? Why no euro exclusive platform? Please stop doing this or clarify.
  2. Well, i have to point an issue attached to this conquest madness, i understand the point on the contest is to manage the bunch of contributions of this days BUTTTT!! i see obviously that acording to seeking the prize the moderation is been a disaster and a next-next-next-clicking madness only to achieve the prize. By mistake i upload a widescreen fanart as disc image and SURPRISE ! 3 moderators aprove it. Without a system to audit good moderation the result of this contest is auto-accept entries like a robot.
  3. SentaiBrad said Cropping and Color Correction isn't really Fan Art either, however those corrections can be made to Fan Art, but the act of making those changes doesn't make it Fan Art. No one is also saying you're not providing your free time, hard work and effort. Like I said in my first reply, I totally get how you are feeling and furthermore I appreciate you for helping. We still need to have Fan Art be Fan Art however. If that means some games don't have Fan Art, then that is fine. I don't expect sports games to have any nor do I except some more obscure Japanese games to have them either. Sadly, Fan Art is going to be made for what people like the most and we have to accept that. We can't force people to create what they want to create. If it exists then lets use it (also assuming the artists is ok with that), but the Guidelines are clear about no real photography.
We are adding movie art ofr movie related games and anime art for anime related games, what do your suggest for starring celebrities games, like the sports games, If a game is about michael jordan i expect some michael jordan photo, i agree with the point to not upload exacta photos but photo based or contextual. And for more amplitude i suggest to change the tag fanart to something general like Game Art, contextual art, etc. I understand that some sport photos are in hands of corporations very noisy but all the art is copyrighted, including movies, manuals, covers, etc. Edited fanart based on photo like deviantart mashups can do the trick no? Only for personalities based games. Like sport games.
  4. We need the message system between mods to negotiation about some rejections. I still remember the refusal to delete an ilustration of juste belmont of symphony of the night because no one check he is another character of a diferent game. And if i remember i do not upload any picture without edition, cropping to widescreen resolutions, cleaning, colour management, etc. If the mods take a look i'm doing a really hard efford to improve database art, finding HQ pictures of ignote locations, artbooks, manuals etc. My objective is all snes games have an art attached, is hard to do withour some workarounds. Let's debate about how to achieve it.
  5. TheTabman said I've rejected quite a lot of "fanart" images that are only very vaguely related to the games they are added to (for example NASA earth pictures from orbit for RPGs, or jungle pictures from known photographer for a action game), and I was wondering if it would be possible to add a sentence or two to make uploader aware that it's very unwise to just add pictures without regard of who owns the copyright. I f the picture is clearly the work of a fan, and made in response to game, it's totally fine to add it. But if people are not careful, this can very quickly become a big mess. Maybe even financially.
If the image you rejected is a partial blue earth sphere it matchs very good with the cover theme of illusion of gaia. The most images you find related are all copyrighted. including covers, artbooks, etc. If the copyright may be the issue, we can stop right now uploading anything. And yes i'm a little angry about some fanart uploaded by me related with games when is near imposible to find any art and rejected. Movie games or sport games usually don't have any art besides the sport star that promotes the game or the film. What do you prefer? Doing this or keep the fanart empty? Don't you think that a earth sphere don't match with sim Earth game?
  6. I don't agree with 12. What's the point with nudity again on this days? Forgive me if i don't understand but i'm really bored with keeping close always to US prerrogatives with nudity. Blood, destruction and magnum guns are permited but we have to censorship a boob? Parental advisor for this cases, not censorship.
  7. SentaiBrad said Adding command line parameters isn't a workaround, that's how we achieve a lot of what we do. However, adding that to LB to happen automatically is certainly something we can achieve, or have it be a check box when editing that platform (Like the Project 64 options).
That's the point, my suggestion is to avoid manual confs in every aspect that is posible. It's a simple call for improvements. The Net is plenty of funtional launchers but lacking of easy wizards or with many manual stuff to make it work. If i 'm very entusiastic and happy with launchbox development is because i see how this project is fighting to reach better goals. Eye candy, own database, automation, etc. Thanks for the feedback guys, and keep the good work.
  8. Please can you contact Jason Carr to do this configurations automatic when adding roms? There's a ticket open. See https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/293/improve-atomiswave-naomi-demul-support-rom

Just check the MAME box during import. He already knows about this. Edit: Unless you're not talking about scraping the metadata during import. If you are talking about scraping then just check that MAME box.
Again. I not talking only about the data scrapping. I'm talking of the complete issue to do the complete adding without workarounds. Selecting Mame is a walkaround, creating a batch file is a workaround, adding custom parameters is a workaround. Please i suggest this by default without manual conf as an improvement.
  10. My worries are under the policy we must have with the games without existent covers or really hard to find in good shape (download services, satellital, hacks, etc). There's many people that love custom covers when is hard to find a good cover or when they have a fantranslation that converts their japanese game on a unnoficial western release. My point is adding a label to custom covers next to the regional ones, like JP, US, EUR, CUSTOM to have everyone happy. In my case i made some custom covers to satellaview, nintendo power snes titles to avoid the lack of real covers of this titles and understand some people prefer unified custom cover of systems like neogeo, etc. My suggestion is here, what do you think?

Drybonz said Will the archive opening feature work if the game files are in a directory within the archive (for example the .bin and .cue in a folder zipped)?
I tried with my TurboGrafx-CD collection (.bin .cue format) and couldn't get it working. Has anyone else been able to? EDIT: I'm thinking it's retroarch and the PCE core... on the RA forums folks are saying the core is broken and can't get PCE-CD games to load, will try a different emulator. PCEjin
The pce core is broken on 1.2 on 1.3 works good.
  12. A little list of features request. Add Default artwork when missing covers or fanart. A good theme for every platform when no fanart is asigned and a nocover asigned deault cover. Autodownload suggested emulators and autoconfiguration at least of ALT+F4 hotkeys, every emulator has a .ini file and it´s easy to target and edit the hotkey to exit i think on mame that have esc by default or other like bluemsx. I know that is messy for all but at least a bunch of prefered emulators like retroarch and mame may be nice to autodownload and configurate the basics like controller(xbox 360 pad defaults). I know about another emulator launcher named emucenter2 that do this think. A good parsing like the MAME adding in recent versions for thinks like DEMUL (NAOMI-ATOMISWAVE) It´s really a mess to make this games run because of the mandatory rom names and the naming on TheGameDatabase Like in MAME. Funny achievements based on database data. Like DUNGEON rat when you run 20 rpg games or EASY TRIGGER when you play a lot on shooter games. Mushroom king when yout play a lot of nintendo games. Etc Maintain all the image data mandatory with the same name that rom have. Is more easy to avoid duplicates and garbage. The images downloaded from thegamesdatabase or other added manually have nasty names with numbers of other things. emumovies not.
