I've spent so much time with duplicates for whatever reason I found a duplicate game in there somehwere, having to open the duplicate for edit, finding out what the name of that game file is which caused the duplicate, navigating to the folder and deleting it. All this could be done with a simple option of, "Delete Game & Related files" "Are you certain you want to delete the game files as well, they will be permanently gone, yes forever?" YES / NO ---- This one simple function would cure sooooooo much pain!!!!!!! Many thanks! :) Launchbox is the greatest!

ScummVM in Launchbox has no platform ?
dudechester replied to dudechester's topic in Troubleshooting
May I ask please are we talking for this fix? like a matter of weeks? or longer, because I have my scummvm collection ready to use for Launchbox, am very keen to use launchbox for this, but it's not currently possible. There is no current work around other than importing very slowly 1 by 1, and only to the NONE platform. Thankyou -
ScummVM in Launchbox has no platform ?
dudechester replied to dudechester's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks Brad, I think it would be 10 minute fix honestly to make this work. You already have the ScumVM tab which works great for importing 1 at a time, but when you use that, as I mentioned above, it simply imports them without assigning a platform. So they are imported so to speak into the NONE platform. Sure they appear in the NONE platform list fine, but there is no way to assign them to a ScumVM platform. This is more of a bug than any new features. Solution: Prevent Launchbox from disablling / greying out the scummVM tab when assigning to a platform. It's horrible to have all ScummVM games imported to the NONE folder :( Thankyou. -
ScummVM in Launchbox has no platform ?
dudechester replied to dudechester's topic in Troubleshooting
1. When you use the built in ScummVM tab Launchbox has for importing game folders, this tab having filled in all the details, will become 'greyed' out if you add a platform to the game afterwards, losing all the references/information/paths you just entered. 2. If you don't add a platform however, it won't appear in the list... :S Therefore you can currently only add a game without being able to launch it using ScummVM game importer tab Or you can have it in a platform list that doesn't launch. Am I missing something here? or has the ScummVM importer tab broken since last update? Thanks -
Well you solved the mystery of rotation. Because using 2 separate Emulators one for horizontal and one for Portrait will keep the correct rotations when loading games through Launchbox. The ONLY issue left, is the full screen. There is definitely no full screen option in there at all, however alt + enter does make it full screen which is just plain silly. Why would they leave that option out? Especially being the most accurate DS emulator out there?
-
DOS76 said @DudeChester for games that are rotated on launch I created a copy of my DeSmuME folder except the .ini file and named it DeSmuMe Horizontal now when ever I discover a game that launches wrong I just go into edit and change the emulator to the horizontal version. I named it Horizontal before I realized that changing the LCD layout wouldn't fix the issue but using rotation would. hmmm I like it! That's rather a genius idea actually :D Is it possible to change that ini file to be full screen also? I tried changing the window sizes, but it didn't seem to effect anything thanks

So batch files for each individual games would be the best setup for Nintendo DS it seems. I've never made a batch file before, bu they're pretty straight forwards so far. (added /p= so I can see what it's doing) I've got the emulator running, but then how would I relate that to a rom in a completely different directory using a batch file? d: cd "D:\LaunchBoxExtra\Emulators\Nintendo DS" Start DeSmuME_0.9.11_x64.exe set /p= --- This can actually work if your nds file has the file type associated with Desmume, however to send alt and Enter as part of that bat file is still the same brick wall... -_-

Well I been searching for a very long time over weeks for this. There are tons of people out there using Launchbox who don't want to use Retro acrch for various reasons, such as the terrible sound emulation, when compared with Desmume. There are always plenty of questions as how to go about full screening Launchbox, but actually NO one has resolved this issue across any forum. Nintendo DS emulation also faces major issues when launching through front ends, because every game needs specifc setups. Some games play portrait mode, some horizontal, which means every game needs individual setups somehow, or you'd be playing many of the games sideways. Really before Launchbox can consider working with DS emulation, it needs some way of setting these rotations up, along with "Should the screen be above the other screen, or to the side" 1 script or batch file is never going to fix these issuse then, and it will require it's own unique NDS tab (Like ScummVM and Dos has) ideally with options for users to choose between rotated mode etc. Emulating NDS on a phone is easy to do, and comes with all the options for screen rotations, (Which it individually saves for each and every game rom) Maybe a better question would be, what would currently be the best way to play an NDS game through Launchbox, so that it remembers it's own individual screen rotations and sizes when launching, based on the last launch (How mobile phone app works) Thanks

without knowing any scripting, I can see under Manage Emulators > Edit Emulator There is a tab called "AutoHotKey Script" Surely this must be where it would go, so it's just a case of finding what goes in here right?
-
SentaiBrad said Yes, the program I said: AutoHotKey. but when you don't know what or how that is :) It's impossible. I'm sure it's easy when you know how, but where is this found please? Do you mean the program as Desmume or Launchbox?
-
I've seen others using some feature where it auto presses Alt + Enter upon launching. Do you know how to add an auto alt+Enter please?
-
Is anyone successfully using Desmume with Full screen on startup please? I've tried all of the NDS emulators, and Desmume is the best for me in every way possible, (apart from this full screen on startup) There has to be a default piece of code one can add in launchbox to make this happen? Thanks,
-
Is there really no way to get Desmume running in full screen...? Seems such a simple thing to do. (Well it is for every other emulator) Is there not something we can add into the command line to replicate Alt+Enter upon loading a rom through launchbox please? I tried running NoGba emulator, but the sound emulation was not accurate, and there is very little in the way of configuration. Desmume has everything dammit, except auto full screen. So please can someone help with a solution to auto fullscreen Desmume on startup, and ill be forever grateful, Thanks.

Ok well this is a very useful thread now :) at least we know this way, emumovies is going to get some new subscribers thanks to launchbox. Launchbox providing direct video download snaps straight into launchbox is easily the most superior of methods. Very time saving. In this case I'll probably pay emumovies again for a new subscription, just to save me using ftp or renaming tools. Great thanks!
-
SentaiBrad said No, we don't download any videos from EmuMovies. DOS76 Yeah if you have a paid account with EmuMovies then LaunchBox will download videos Come on guys... Whose telling the truth here? :) If Launchbox can download the movies like Dos76 expresses, this changes everything. Thanks.
-
SentaiBrad said No, we don't download any videos from EmuMovies. If I recall this is one thing we can't do. So even if we did get hundreds of videos, if the videos are named differently to the roms, especially in other platforms, does this mean in Launchbox... to use video, we will have to manually 1 by 1 check all the videos are named the same as the roms? oO Emumovies I know fact doesnt have the same named sega videos to some of my roms. Hmm videos or snaps, videos or snaps....... That is the question! :) Snaps take up a lot less room for sure, and are certainly a lot less hassle, since they can download from emumoives and match up, (for free)

CriticalCid said 480p is for these old games more than enough. They look crystal clear in full screen and a higher resolution would just be a waste of space on the hard drive because they wouldn’t add any quality to it. Especially when you watch the snaps most of the time in a little video frame anyway. And btw. I have fullspeed at the EmuMovies FTP (12 MB/s) if I download 10 files at the same time. And I guess you don’t really know for what FTP is really used for and what benefits it has (because you said you used FTP only once), so just take it as it is or use the EmuMovies Download Tool. Yea may well be. So in this case, if we are using the Launchbox movie downloader, how can we do that once we have the games all nicely imported and named correctly which takes a lot of time? The option to use emumovies is available when you import new games, but how does launchbox work to deal with games already imported? I know there is bulk edit, but is it possible to search for bulk movies from emumovies at this stage? Thanks.

Well I would pay for someone to do it sure :) but only if they had a complete collection, they were their own carefully planned out video captures and most importantly, available for a single download. 5 years ago size and speed were catching up together, but now we have speeds which could download the whole lot In a matter of minutes. There's no need for ftp etc anymore. Besides ftp is rather an old fashion now :) The cool kids now days would never have heard of ftp. In fact I only ever tried it once. So I think I'm still cool. Well really with today's speeds, it could even just be a direct download from the site, one smooth all the way zip file. I'd gladly pay, just to save the efforts. Emumovie has captures, they are just as much a hassle in my experience. I registered with then before and that's where I had tried the ftp, but I lost a portable hard drive, went to go back to download snaps again, and my paid subscription ended. I didn't feel like paying twice.... They werent even high resolution captures.

No I don't agree with people using other people's hard work (the games themselves) and making money off a video clip of them. Loads of people must have made thesense collections out there, so we if we all shared this stuff it would be great (and actually more legal than making money off recordings of other people's "hard work". These links were mostly image snaps dude, and I had visited them in the search before my post here :) It's frustrating as if I left mame running with f1 as start record and f12 as stop record... my pet cat could technically make a video snaps by walking across the keyboard, so whilst it's easy and ok a little time consuming, we should be sharing video snaps libraries, as it's perfectly legal, saves time and money ^^ Maybe it would be a good idea to have a section for good quality video snaps, contributed by launchbox supporters themselves. This way there'd also be a variety avaliable, and in no time at all, complete, high quality, recent collections. Still... dont think there is a complete mame collection of video snaps anywhere though in form of a torrent. Or single download? The whole collection isn't even that big by today's standards of size and net speed. Thanks
-
Where in the world does one get all the latest Mame video snaps these days? It really should be available to share freely, and I know if I had the time to make them all, I would happily share a big torrent for others to enjoy. I don't want to use ftp, I'm definitely don't have time to sit and manually download separate zips. Is there a complete torrent anywhere? I would pay even though I don't agree with paying for moving screen captures of someone elses hard work... :) thanks any help.

How to disable Emumovies search/login/everything ?
dudechester replied to Jason Carr's topic in Features
Since the last update, I'm being pestered to sign into Emumovies, which I have no interest in doing nor registering. Please can you let me know how to disable the warning for this, every single time I add new games... It's driving me insane :) thankyou. -
You are correct! .ST files don't need any extra help at all. I was trying my best to get a .STX file to work, which simply refuses. I'll have to try and find these games in ST format instead. Thankyou!

Have been trying where ever I get the time, so far not getting any closer to getting my favorite computer working within Launchbox yet, but I need some backup here, more technical, code minded people please :) I've found this thread for how they got Atari ST working in Hyperspin, so perhaps we can take bits from their setup and use it to get it working in Launchbox? http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/6712-atari-st/page-6 Many thanks! We will get there.

I can add something here "JASON" you need to make this header of your Forums :) This is where a lot of people seem to be coming stuck actually, as I read on other posts. To get Launchbox to run games (Doesn't need any fancy command lines) YOU MUST make sure all the roms are stored in Mames local rom directory (Not copy roms over to launchbox games directory, either manually or by using the wizard) - in other words, the games won't run, unless they are in Mame's Rom directory. Found this out the hard way, but hope it helps others :) (I'm using Mame64 to run mine - which is the latest version "mame0168b_64bit") Thanks.

Hey Jason, I've added Dungeon Master to test as the first game for Atari ST. I've got it setup the same as consoles which work, Drag drop, find artwork, link to the emulator (Which is Steem) Assuming this case needs something in the command line to get it to run with Launchbox.. Don't know what to put in the command line, as there's nothing in the example which would set the game up to run with the emulator as far as I can see? Thankyou
