  1. CriticalCid said 480p is for these old games more than enough. They look crystal clear in full screen and a higher resolution would just be a waste of space on the hard drive because they wouldn’t add any quality to it. Especially when you watch the snaps most of the time in a little video frame anyway. And btw. I have fullspeed at the EmuMovies FTP (12 MB/s) if I download 10 files at the same time. And I guess you don’t really know for what FTP is really used for and what benefits it has (because you said you used FTP only once), so just take it as it is or use the EmuMovies Download Tool. Yea may well be. So in this case, if we are using the Launchbox movie downloader, how can we do that once we have the games all nicely imported and named correctly which takes a lot of time? The option to use emumovies is available when you import new games, but how does launchbox work to deal with games already imported? I know there is bulk edit, but is it possible to search for bulk movies from emumovies at this stage? Thanks.
  2. Well I would pay for someone to do it sure :) but only if they had a complete collection, they were their own carefully planned out video captures and most importantly, available for a single download. 5 years ago size and speed were catching up together, but now we have speeds which could download the whole lot In a matter of minutes. There's no need for ftp etc anymore. Besides ftp is rather an old fashion now :) The cool kids now days would never have heard of ftp. In fact I only ever tried it once. So I think I'm still cool. Well really with today's speeds, it could even just be a direct download from the site, one smooth all the way zip file. I'd gladly pay, just to save the efforts. Emumovie has captures, they are just as much a hassle in my experience. I registered with then before and that's where I had tried the ftp, but I lost a portable hard drive, went to go back to download snaps again, and my paid subscription ended. I didn't feel like paying twice.... They werent even high resolution captures.
  3. No I don't agree with people using other people's hard work (the games themselves) and making money off a video clip of them. Loads of people must have made thesense collections out there, so we if we all shared this stuff it would be great (and actually more legal than making money off recordings of other people's "hard work". These links were mostly image snaps dude, and I had visited them in the search before my post here :) It's frustrating as if I left mame running with f1 as start record and f12 as stop record... my pet cat could technically make a video snaps by walking across the keyboard, so whilst it's easy and ok a little time consuming, we should be sharing video snaps libraries, as it's perfectly legal, saves time and money ^^ Maybe it would be a good idea to have a section for good quality video snaps, contributed by launchbox supporters themselves. This way there'd also be a variety avaliable, and in no time at all, complete, high quality, recent collections. Still... dont think there is a complete mame collection of video snaps anywhere though in form of a torrent. Or single download? The whole collection isn't even that big by today's standards of size and net speed. Thanks
  4. Where in the world does one get all the latest Mame video snaps these days? It really should be available to share freely, and I know if I had the time to make them all, I would happily share a big torrent for others to enjoy. I don't want to use ftp, I'm definitely don't have time to sit and manually download separate zips. Is there a complete torrent anywhere? I would pay even though I don't agree with paying for moving screen captures of someone elses hard work... :) thanks any help.
  5. Since the last update, I'm being pestered to sign into Emumovies, which I have no interest in doing nor registering. Please can you let me know how to disable the warning for this, every single time I add new games... It's driving me insane :) thankyou.
  6. You are correct! .ST files don't need any extra help at all. I was trying my best to get a .STX file to work, which simply refuses. I'll have to try and find these games in ST format instead. Thankyou!
  7. Have been trying where ever I get the time, so far not getting any closer to getting my favorite computer working within Launchbox yet, but I need some backup here, more technical, code minded people please :) I've found this thread for how they got Atari ST working in Hyperspin, so perhaps we can take bits from their setup and use it to get it working in Launchbox? http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/6712-atari-st/page-6 Many thanks! We will get there.
  8. I can add something here "JASON" you need to make this header of your Forums :) This is where a lot of people seem to be coming stuck actually, as I read on other posts. To get Launchbox to run games (Doesn't need any fancy command lines) YOU MUST make sure all the roms are stored in Mames local rom directory (Not copy roms over to launchbox games directory, either manually or by using the wizard) - in other words, the games won't run, unless they are in Mame's Rom directory. Found this out the hard way, but hope it helps others :) (I'm using Mame64 to run mine - which is the latest version "mame0168b_64bit") Thanks.
  9. Hey Jason, I've added Dungeon Master to test as the first game for Atari ST. I've got it setup the same as consoles which work, Drag drop, find artwork, link to the emulator (Which is Steem) Assuming this case needs something in the command line to get it to run with Launchbox.. Don't know what to put in the command line, as there's nothing in the example which would set the game up to run with the emulator as far as I can see? Thankyou
  10. Has anyone got Mame working yet in Launchbox? I see this threads being going since May 2014... but not many success stories here? Console emulation is setup to work, and they do pretty easily. So far I cannot get any computer Amiga, Atari St etc working, and no Mame emulation to even start :( I found all these things very easy in Hypserspin (which was supposed to be complicated??) I'm sure it "Should be easy / easier" with Launchbox, so it's probably some simple step/steps I've missed out on. Drag dropping a Mame rom does not run straight off like Snes or Gens. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for letting me know about RocketLauncher. This is something I've never even heard of up until now? :O Since Atari ST and Amiga etc are all managed, setup in Gamebase already, I wonder if I can run Gamebase through Launchbox? It would get a bit silly running Gamebase, through rocket launcher through Launchbox though :D oh Launch box please help support launching Atari ST games!! I can't even get a single game to work for Atari in Launchbox, and I'm pretty sure it needs some command line scripting to make that happen :(
  12. Hey, I'd like to start a topic for all those interested in Atari ST emulation through Launchbox. Having tried all the ST emulator s out there, it's safe to say 'Steem' has the most features, easiest setup / compatibility. (This is also used as default with Gamebase for you that know Gamebase) Is there a code monkey around please, who could help me understand what launch box needs in it's startup script, so that the game launches instead of going to Atari ST Desktop, please? Thankyou
  13. For controllers, I use PlayStation 3, and motion joy. If your pc has Bluetooth, you can also setup wireless controllers using this. It remember's the controllers like the PlayStation does too. No crackling sounds with these. (Although you might not have ps3 controls ) still they're very good choice for emulation.
  14. Thanks I tested a converted to mp4 video, it works fine, but that's a lot of flvs to change, and emumovies used all its emulator snaps as flvs back in the day. You're right about issues with sound and video playback though, FLV is no longer a sensible choice. If emu movies has the complete collection, I might invest in getting better quality clips now, as building these collections should be justified by a tasty looking front end. ^^
  15. For emulators like atari st, Amiga, etc which could use up to 8 disks in some cases, this needs to be a working feature of any premium front end, or it renders the frontend as non functional in terms of these emulators. How do you import multiple roms for emulated games which have 3 or 4 disks per game? Game Base uses its setup, so that every game (in atari st case) auto loads the disks, and only the disk 1 is shown in menu. It would be he'll going through thousands of games, importing 1 at a time, and then realigning each and every single disk to an "additional app" path? Hopefully Launchbox does have a way to deal with this, as it's probably the most essential feature of any front end. The purpose being time saving into an organised library. Thank you and I will provide support where I can. Together I believe Launchbox can be the best generic and flexible front end out there. :)
  16. We don't have to share emu movies snaps, but there'd be nothing wrong with sharing personal made video snaps, if anyone wanted too? My subscription to emu movies run out now, as after I download the Sega collection, I used hyperspin for all this time. I moved over to Launchbox for its cleaner base style. Jason, do you have the specific codec you tested please, because If it's working on yours, with the same specs, then it could be a slightly different version of the codec perhaps? Thanks
  17. Well I went to EmuMovies over a year ago now, to get the SEGA Mega Drive collection of videos, which were FLV format. I paid money for them to save me time, since I get very little time with my work, and could never hope to make, or go through converting everything. I feel gutted that I found out they were FLV after I paid for them, since it's an absolute joke file format -_- I then purchased LaunchBox, because I read on the other forum, conversation with Jason above, saying that FLV files can be used in Launchbox, as long as Windows media player can see them. So i installed the codecs as he mentions, tried to load up BigBox again, having seen they work in ~Windows Media player, but still nothing. Really I purchased this as a front end for Sega Mega Drive on a personal project, but I can't get FLV videos to work. Tonight I even tried re-visiting Emumovies, and it seems the site is up and down also. Another idea, It would be good if someone could share the whole collection some place ideally in MP4 format, since they aren't roms or anything, it should be fine?
  18. I've been stuck on this issue myself since I purchased the full version of Launch Box. Endlesly going through the forums and Googling for help, but all I get is a space where the videos should be. - All my videos are FLV's - The Video file path is directed at the correct location to the videos - The video files are named the same as the rom zip files - I've installed "K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1170_Full" - These FLV videos play in Windows media player, but not in launchbox - Bigbox One thing that should be noted here, is that in launchbox when aiming to the "Video game path" location, the FLV files are not there, unless you change "Videos to all files" - which kind of says to me, that Launch box doesn't recognise FLV files, even though it's supposed to be playing whatever Windows Media player does? Thankyou.
