  1. It's not that they work poorly, it's just the whole concept that I'm just not interested in. What I like is the more database styled presentation that desktop mode provides and apart some performance issues I've been having with every version since 9.0 honestly, the desktop mode has almost exactly the layout, structure and function I would want... Like, before I used Launchbox I was using the barebones QuickPlay if anyone remembers that and I was very content with that. And at that time most popular frontend was HyperSpin and I always found that extremely obnoxious with it's wheels and videos and sound effects and all that surfacy bullcrap visual poop. It never appealed to me. So despite QuickPlay being almost completely dead I stuck with it for over 10 years. And then I discovered Launchbox which seemed to have a very similar core concept but with a much better interface and, most importantly, was in active development. So I made the switch to Launchbox and haven't looked back since. Launchbox is by far the best frontend out there and it baffles me that no one's tried to copy it... Well, not the desktop mode atleast. Like I said, BigBox, RetroPie, EmulationStation, HyperSpin... They all share the same core philosophy and none of it interests me... I even used EmulationStation on my PS Classic and it just doesn't hold a candle to desktop mode. No, it's Launchbox desktop mode or a desktop mode equivalent or nothing. Heck, I'd honestly exclusively use "list mode" over any of those (poor list mode, there are so many improvement it could need but no one pays it any attention anymore).
  2. Couldn't care less about BigBox, it's as clunky as all the other frontends out there. BigBox, RetroPie, EmulationStation, HyperSpin, they all just trade meaningless flash for usability. What I want is desktop mode on Steam Deck, that would be the dream.
  3. I'd also like a version of full Launchbox that can run on Steamdeck. It's just a better launcher than the native Steam interface and any other Linux compat. Especially there's nothing that even remotely compares to the usability of the Launchbox desktop mode. It's the one thing that keeps me thinking that maybe I should install Windows on it. I mean, I even tried and oh my god, the Steamdeck is not ready for Windows yet (those drivers Steam provided must be the poopiest drivers ever cause it runs like dogshit). When dualboot becomes available I'll install it again but anyway... A Linux version would be nice... Heck, a version that doesn't require the .net core 3.1 files might be enough, cause I was able to start Launchbox through Proton, but it complained about the .net core files so that ended there...
  4. Yeah, the concept is nice but it does add an extra click every time you use the menu and if you use it a lot that's a lot of extra clicking and it's really frustrating. So I'd like for the menu nesting to be an option, not a mandatory change...
  5. Unsurprisingly this issue remains. I'm starting to feel actively ignored here... Anyway, after some further experimenting is seems to be related to the "auto-populate" function rather than the custom fields. I just assumed it was custom fields since that was heavily used in my nested tree and they've caused problems before. But as I've added new auto-populated playlists that doesn't use any custom fields and it's also very very slow it seems clear that it's more a problem with the auto-populate function itself rather than any specific field.
  6. Again, 9.3 still has this issue. I have attachment my "data" folder so it can be used for reference for figuring out what's wrong. Hoping this can be solved soon. Data.7z
  7. Just would like to reiterate that this issue still remains. As things are now I'll be stuck at 8.9 for the foreseeable future.
  8. Got a problem with custom fields again. When using the nested filters and one of the criteria for auto-populating a playlist involves a custom field, Launchbox struggles to update the playlist alot. As a comparison, when going to "All" section it takes little over a second for the playlist to populate. But when going to a playlist with more 9000 games and one custom field as one of two criterias it took over 1½ minute for the playlist to populate. So yeah, that doesn't work.
  9. GIFs doesn't seem to display properly (or at all rather) in game details.
  10. Just posting to confirm that yes, the latest beta did indeed fix my performance issues.
  11. I have 4GHz i7 with 16GB RAM so I don't think it's a hardware thing... I do have many games in there though (over 20000)...
  12. Maybe it's the custom fields doing it. I'm using custom fields alot and that caused some similar problems a few years ago in a previous build. Maybe it's a similar issue now.
  13. Is it just brutally slow for anyone else or just me? Scrolling is a crawl, pictures load in at a snails pace and just in general the interface is pretty much unusable. Also, "version" doesn't show up after the game titles anymore. I also don't like how much dead space there is between game rows these days. And also, as an unrelated thing, I would really like to be able to add custom fields in list view just in general... Especially since list view is the only thing that isn't slow anymore.
  14. So eh, this is the weirdest thing I've encountered in Launchbox, and one of the weirdest in computing overall... So if I navigate my games in wall mode using my keyboard arrow keys, everything works as expected... Except if I push up, then it immediately takes me to the game Uplink, for no discernable reason other than the game starts with the word "Up". Sometimes it also cycles between "Uplink" and "Upgrade Complete" for a maximum level of WTF... Only sometimes though... Pressing down however does not take me to "Down the World" or any other "Down" game and I have no Right or Left games (no Left4Dead for me). So yeah... that's weird right? I mean, I know it sounds like a dumb joke but this it's genuine and completely baffling.
  15. Would be great if the plugin would import our preset settings on first run for things like application language, output resolution and button config so we don't have to redo it for every game we play. Things that doesn't impact the emulation settings at all.
  16. Oh, it's all bugs. The biggest one is the whole frontend grind to a halt every time I do anything involving custom fields which considering I have a lot of them is kind of a problem, but then there's also odd text display bugs based on what I arranged the games by when I finish an edit, if I rename a game the pictures attached to it doesn't get renamed so I have to re-add everything manually and also, it seems to ignore custom sorting. Those are the ones I can think of right now. And the changes I made to the database since 6.10 are minimal and all things I can redo in less than 30 minutes, cause I almost literally couldn't use Launchbox for a month. Regarding the roll back though, I just did what SentaiBrad suggested. Found the correct update file, reinstalled 6.9 and it's been working just fine since.
  17. Already did that during the dev stream earlier today, and the beta actually seemed to make it worse. But I told Jason about it and he's looking it, so I'm sure it'll be fixed eventually. But in the meantime I'd like to be able to use the frontend fully without getting frustrated, so going back to 6.9 seems better for now. After all, I don't use BigBox anyway so the difference in functionality between 6.9 and 6.11 is for me marginal at best... But yeah, thanks!
  18. So ever since 6.10 was released Launchbox hasn't worked properly for me and now I kinda wanna roll back to 6.9, atleast for a while. So does anyone know where I can do that? Cause I only know of downloading via email and through LaunchBox and that's always the latest version. But there has to be a version to get an earlier version of the program somehow right? I'm just too stupid to realize it right?
  19. Well, it works from QuickPlay which is the thing I use most of the time, and also in MAMEUI which I sometimes use for testing purposes... But I just tried to launch a game through the command prompt with MAME and that didn't seem to work at all, "everything" was missing according to MAME. So maybe there's something in the MAME folder I need to adjust? Cause I've never touched that really, since it worked before without touching that stuff... Some kind of ini file I need to reconfigure?
  20. So this is probably something super simple and obvious that I'm overlooking, but I just can't get games to properly launch in MAME. Scanning them in is no problem, but every time I try to launch a game MAME launch, it says "Loading Game 0%" and then it just exits out. The same thing happens regardless of if I launch MAME directly or through RetroArch. And the weird thing, if I launch the same game in my previous frontend QuickPlay it works like a charm, so doesn't seem to be anything wrong with MAME or the ROMs files. It's gotta be a setting somewhere, but it feels like I've flipped every switch I can find. Or maybe I'm just stupid, that's always an option...
