    Hey guys,

    I just downloaded the new version of Retroarch 1.9.1. After updating I opened Bigbox/Launchbox and no games running with Retroarch are opening. I then opened retroarch and manually open different games and everything is working fine. Ive look through the forums here and have found no info on this. Any Help would be appreciated. I've since push my version in retroarch back to 1.8.9.

    FYI, Just tested RA 1.9.1 with latest LaunchBox v11.10 and everything loads and exits as it should.

    The game is bin and cue like the rest.  All my Sega CD games are this way.  Very strange how some games won't load unless I go directly into Retroarch. Im going to dive back in later today and continue trouble shooting. If I figure it out, I will share. Thanks

    Edit the cue file with notepad and make sure the cue file is named exactly the same as the bin file, then try loading it again.

    This has been brought up in the past and the thing is there is no magic switch that Jason can just flip and have LB/BB run butter smooth when it comes to dealing with large (or in your case, extremely large) libraries. If there was he would have done it long ago.

    It's a known fact that LB/BB has higher system requirements than other frontends because of the way it is built but because of how it is built is what allows Jason to develop it and ad new features as quickly as he does while other front ends lag behind in their development of new features.

    Like Neil said, Jason is always looking to improve performance and he does from time to time find little things that do help with it but it's not going to magically load or respond instantly with such large libraries with a simple piece of code.

    It's great having all these new features, but for me they just slow my setup down even more.

    The only way for me to use Launchbox is literally to cut 75% of it out so it can deal with it quicker.

    I will look into doing this in the short term so I can get the best from it for now.

    Thanks for info.

    At no point did i say you can not air your views, what i said was that insinuating that the speed of Launchbox was being ignored was lets be honest, a outright lie. It is constantly being optimized and getting speed increases. As i said my setup loads in 15 seconds from a mechanical drive, and i find that perfectly acceptable, but all setups will vary, and the more data you add to it, the longer its going to take, that's just a fact.

    Good to hear there is a fix for my speed issues

    I will now look into deleted 136,000 games off my setup so I can load up quickly in 15 seconds (which would be very acceptable).

    Speeding up things in both Launchbox and Bigbox is always a priority, insinuating it isnt a priority is uncalled for. Launchbox does require fairly beefy system specs, it is not a program designed to run on a toaster (not saying that is what you personally have). My Launchbox with around 14,000 games running from a mechanical 5400rpm HDD takes 15 seconds to load and i notice nothing happening in the background while editing and the like. On my SSD it loads in around 5 seconds and again i dont notice anything untoward's while in the program.

    What are your system specs and what sort of drive is Launchbox on? Also what is your game count.

    Why would you take me saying it needs speeding up as priority no1 as uncalled for ?

    I have had Launchbox for years and have not noticed any improvement in speed (again IMO)

    Everything else is slick and games load quickly, but using the general interface of both Launchbox and BigBox is very slow for me IMO.

    Launchbox continually adds new features practically on a daily basis and I was just stating that IMO speeding the entire thing up would be my no1 priority.

    It loads ok with a handful of systems, but with 500+ systems (150,000 games) that I have and am sure 100's if not 1000's of others have you literally cannot do anything with it, without it taking 3-5 minutes to load BigBox for example, and jamming up when simply refreshing the media or trying to edit something in Launchbox for example

    I have an I7 processor, 3.8ghz , 16gb ram Windows 10 64bit and running setup from a 16tb WD hard drive.

    I was simply stating what I experienced and I thought moderators  would want to know this kind of information ?

    I have the same amount of systems on another frontend and it loads instantly, so it takes a lot of getting used to waiting 3-5 minutes for BigBox to just load up.

    Hopefully this forum won't go the same way as social media and not even allow people to air their views good or bad (on something I spent a lot of money on)

    Please let me know if this is the case and I will stop pointing out my experiences (unless they are good ones obviously)

    OK, Thanks. Ill PM Zombeaver in our moderator discord and let him know.

    Every game I play where a highscore is created on the boards is using Zombeaver name !

    Is it just for me or is this an issue generally for people using C64 Dreams ?

    Thanks

    Hi everyone.  I have been looking for a Favorites playlist theme video but I just can't find what I'm looking for...I guess that's because nobody knows what my favorite games are...lol.  I am hoping someone could point me to a piece of software that I could use to create such a video...What are you guys using to create your own?  Thanks in advance.

    Try Powerpoint, it works well to create videos, as long as you have the images and video files to make it. :)

    Well it fixed the issue for the original poster and another member so that was the goal. But good to know as you have mentioned a couple times your set up does not need an AHK. The end goal is it works.

    It was just for your information seeing as you had seemed to spend a lot of time fixing it for them :)

    @Koroth I just set up ryujinx on a few systems and 1 of them worked fine without needing an AHK, but the other 2 did (I am unsure why this would be the case, but I have seen this on a couple other emulators). So I tested the code below both with starting game in fullscreen and not starting in fullscreen and the games exited correctly back into LB and not into the Ryujinx UI. So give this a try.

    ESC::
    {
        SetTitleMatchMode, 2
        WinWaitActive, Ryujinx
        Send !{f4}
    }

    FYI,

    This works for me if you press escape on the keyboard, but it does not work when trying to escape using a controller (in my case xbox 360).

    To use a controller (or at least an xbox 360 controller) to exit, just leave exit script blank.

  10. I don’t understand why it works for me with no settings and not for anyone else.

    i am just using Windows 10 with latest update , launchbox 11.9 and latest version of ryujinx.

    ryujinx has full screen enabled and confirm exit disabled.

    it loads and exits perfectly without doing any scripts at all.

    maybe I am just special , but I doubt it.

    it can only be the version of ryujinx you are trying to use or launchbox version.

    Thanks very much for doing that IainSA. The only difference  with the covers created by Phenix14000 is they also include the playstation hologram sticker on the bottom left of the box which is really cool. Would this be possible please ?

    Hi zugswang,

    Thank you, according to the video, i've had to find my own bios files which i have and insert them in folder where the ROMS are located. i have pasted all the bios files i could find in there.

    They need to be the correct bios files for the version of MAME you are using, eg MAME 0.228 needs MAME 0.228 bios files etc

    I mean in the game screenshots, when i add games i found that there's a lot of images with the worst quality ever and diminute size, this annoys me a lot

    What if people uploaded nothing ? Then you wouldn't have ANYTHING to choose from.

    Maybe be grateful that people take time out to upload free stuff for everyone to choose from in the first place.

    There are multiple ways where it is not really necessary to have per game custom command-lines for TeknoParrot and everything works with just one general command-line. The advantage would be, that if you ever have to change the command-line, you don't have to edit all your games.

    It's just another option to throw in the pot so he was aware that he can use txt or xml path if he did it this way.

    Sussed it! I used the import text file for the game method, so LB was launching the text file then the .xml file so 2 games at once. I just edited the rom path and changed it from the text file to the .xml file in TP's User Profile folder, sorted! :)

    FYI, That should not have mattered as I have my games running from txt files, but at least it's now working for you.

    Make sure you add custom command line parameters for each game and you can point to either.

    Hi i am not able to launch any of the neogeo games on launchbox i have followed the youtube video by eta, step by step i really want it to work and cant rest until it is working, please can anyone help. I had it working on retroarch but with me playing around with settings it doesnt load on there either.

    Jodi

    Have a look to see if you have the neo geo bios files if you are using MAME set, or they won't run.

  17. This unfortunately is Launchbox/Bigbox biggest issue, it's very slow (2 minutes to load up Bigbox, 30 seconds to load up Launchbox) for me.

    I thought it was because I had 150,000 games on my setup, but it's slow due to the way Launchbox/Bigbox is working in the background.

    It has to do too many backups etc and feels like it is looking at the entire setup each time you try to do anything.

    I also have Hyperspin, and even with 150,000 games on that everything is practically instant when doing anything. (Obviously working in a different way, but using same emulators/media/roms)

    Hopefully speed can be improved over time, because as beautiful as it looks, this is a fatal flaw for sure.
