Version 2.0.2 is out now. New feature: Select and launch individual ROMs / files from a merged archive! Handy for merged archives which include multiple language, region, hack, betas, or multiple disc images in a single archive.

Right-click on a game and choose Select ROM In Archive... A window will popup with a full listing of the archive contents. Select the desired ROM file, then click Play. That ROM will now launch with the configured emulator.

(Thanks to @NahuelDS for the suggestion)

Wow... this is exactly what I needed! Great feature. I will test it right away. Thank you soo much!!!

  2. I'm still waiting for this feature to properly use LaunchBox.
Don't get me wrong, LaunchBox is really nice... but without DAT implementation, it's impossible for me to automate the tedious task of managing my collection.

Personally, my main issue with LaunchbBox is with the way it imports roms... it still doesn't merge multiple region roms (e.g. "Pocket Monsters - Aka (Japan) (SGB Enhanced)" doesn't combine with "Pokemon - Red Version (USA, Europe) (SGB Enhanced)"). Judging by the feature polls, both the community and the developers prioritize aesthetics over this type of advanced usability.... so I can assume a feature like this won't be implemented. ?

A couple of years ago, I proposed a way to read the contents of a zip/7z file, and choose which rom you wanted to launch from withing the zip file. That way, you only have to import your merged set, which consists on only 1 zip file per game, with all the variants of the same game inside (regions, revisions, beta, etc). But it seems nobody cares about that ?... I always find the same answer "just use 1 rom per game" ?‍♂️

It's been 3 years since I discovered LaunchBox. At first I was really excited... but the fact that I STILL cant manage my collection the way I want, it made stop using this frontend.

@NahuelDS Not a problem, thanks for letting me know :)

A file picker when launching a merged rom set would be useful. I'm not sure if it's beyond the scope of what this plugin is designed for, but technically it can be done. I'll have a think about whether adding to this plugin makes sense, or if it's better handled some other way. Don't hold your breath though! :P

Any plans on this feature? ?? ?

  4. @Lordmonkus I'm glad you like the covers I've made :).  I mainly try to use the Japanese box art just to keep things fresh.

The ones you made look really good! Now I will have to update my MSU1 library just to use them.

The Gradius III and SFII The New Challengers covers look spot on!

  5. @fraganator Thank you so much for implementing that option. :D I haven't had any issues with it, it works perfectly!

Since this plugin acts as an intermediary between Launchbox and 7zip.... would it be possible to select manually which file to launch?

That would be really useful for users that have complete merged romsets.

e.g. when you launch the following 7z file:

    Spoiler

Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (Europe) (En,Fr,De) (Rev A).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (Europe) (En,Fr,De).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (Europe) (GameCube Edition).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (USA) (GameCube Edition).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (USA) (Rev A).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (USA) (Rev B).n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (USA).n64
Zelda no Densetsu - Toki no Ocarina (Japan) (Rev A).n64
Zelda no Densetsu - Toki no Ocarina (Japan) (Rev B).n64
Zelda no Densetsu - Toki no Ocarina (Japan).n64
Zelda no Densetsu - Toki no Ocarina GC (Japan) (GameCube Edition).n64

A list prompt appears which gives you the option to select which rom to launch.

With the lastest updates, Launchbox has implemented something similar with "additional applications", but the scrapper still presents problems associating roms with different regional names, making the process of building a big library extremely tedious. Also you loose the benefits of having your entire collection compressed, which saves a lot of space with big sets.

I hope something like this could be achieved, this would be extremely useful for those that already have entire no-intro merged sets.

  6. I really like this plugin, it works really well. Thanks for making it, it's exactly what I needed!

I would like to know if there is possible to set FilePriority per Platform within the same Emulator.

For example: I use the same emulator (Retroarch) for both 3DO and TurboGrafxCD.
But I need different file priorities for each platform, ".iso" files for 3DO and ".cue" files for TGCD

I could achieve this using two different emulators within Launchbox: Retroarch (3DO), Retroarch (TGCD). But I much rather prefer to have every platform under one single emulator entry.

    v1.0.2 (5/2/2017):
-redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS)

The image is the standard ImageView so it can be changed to any available type (clear logo, box, 3d box, screenshot, banner, cart, etc.).

Perfect! Just like I wanted :D I really appreciate your hard work, thanks!!!

  8. Hi, I have all my roms compressed in zip. It's a merge set with all the different versions (USA, EUR, JAP) of each game in a single ZIP file. RetroArch gives you the option to load those files and to choose which ROM whiting the ZIP file you want to play. As pictured in here: https://i.imgur.com/cAtiXSW.png https://i.imgur.com/fufid5w.png I would like to have this option list prompted in RetroArch after I launch the zip file from LaunchBox. Is there a way to do it?
