  1. Bigbox is not really built for touch but it should work since touch act like a mouse but the search ui might be using a different method than Bigbox so it might be cause issues with touch not working with it, i dont have a touch screen pc so i cant test, but im sure @Jason Carr can chime in and give some help.

  2. Something probably happened during the installation of the update, so try going to the update folder in your launchbox folder and reinstall the latest beta and that should fix it, if not, its something with your data folder that probably got corrupted.

  3. There is a way to do it with autohotkey and you use the autohotkey exe in launchbox instead of the emulator exe. It different for every emulator, so you would have to look up the script for each emulator. But big box has a startup screen that shows up when you start an emulator until the game loads and that kind of hides the windows and if you have the timing set correctly for the start screen, you shouldn't see the emulator windows.

Is the option to have pause screen and start-up music choices at some point?  I used to enjoy having arcade ambience playing when a game was paused and a specific tune playing when a game was loading.

interesting, thats a cool feature, or maybe play a short sound when a game is paused like is most games. Jason would probably have to add in the ability to use more sounds in the sounds folder than is currently aloud in BigBox for this feature and it would probably be called pausecreen and startup for startup screen like start, select, move and back. The ability to use more sounds in bigbox like using multiple sounds when scrolling through the wheel like in hyperspin is something i'm hoping Jason will do at some point.

Beta 13 is out now with the following:

    • Pause screens now fade (with an option to disable in the global LaunchBox or Big Box Game Pause options)
    • Pause screens now mute audio during transitions (with an option to disable in the global LaunchBox or Big Box Game Pause options)
    • Added an exit game option to pause screens
    • Fixed save and load states and reset game pause screen functionality for MAME (new default scripts and forced keyboardprovider dinput)
    • Fixed Retroarch game reset AutoHotkey script using incorrect default key
    • Added default pause screen settings for Steem, Hatari, and ePSXe (no scripts yet though)

Here's what's left on my hopeful to-do list before the official release (note that they are not at all guaranteed):

    • Game-specific pause screen settings
    • Improved emulator compatibility
    • Additional emulator AutoHotkey scripts for save and load game states and reset game
    • Add retro achievements to pause screens
    • Add disc swapping to pause screens
    • Save PDF browsing location for next time
    • Add themes manager for pause themes

Not sure if all of those will be possible, but that's what I'm shooting for. Thanks all; let me know how this beta fares.

Amazing work Jason!!! The new possible features actually make pause screens have a purpose for me, since i didnt see any real use for it. Im excited for AutoHotkey scripts for save and load game states and reset game. Keep it up Jason!!!

I haven't experienced any lockups with Dolphin, and we've had quite a few reports of it working without issues. Same with Retroarch. Sadly I'm wondering if maybe it's bad drivers on your end, or something of that nature. Are you running Windows 7 or 10?

I'm running windows 10, but bigbox is running off an external 1tb 7200rmp drive, so that might be it, but I'll do some tests.

  7. Just test Dolphin with the default settings and forceful activation enabled in launchbox, and the pause screens work but if you pause it a few time it will stop working. Ill do more testing and change setting and see if it helps, because ive also noticed it happen in retroarch as well in beta 11.

  8. The key i chose is the   '  key and the pause menu comes up for me, and ive tested in with dolphin and retroarch and it works fine. you may have some sort of programs or some overlay this is taking over the keyboard, and controller.

  9. This is weird, because i have malwarebytes and it has never detected launchbox as any kind of virus. You can go into malwarebytes and restore it from the quarantined list and then turn off the real time protection and add it to the excluded list, so it wont be deleted. It might have been some weird glitch with malwarebytes, because launchbox is not a virus.

Be cool to have separate settings for each theme so it saves all the selected views (platform, category, genre) for each theme separately.

You are probably the only person iv'e seen here besides me who wants this as well, since it is a bit tedious changing view each time you change a theme, especially when you have a lot of platforms/playlists, and if you use separate themes on some platforms/playlist. Also it would be cool, if you use different themes on platforms/playlists and you just want to change the Main theme, but not the seperate Platform/playlist themes, have bigbox give you an option when selecting a main theme, if it was able to detect if some platforms/playlists have a different theme from the main theme and ask you, do you want to apply this theme globally or do you want to replace all separate themes, or something like that.

If I understand correctly ... you are more concerned about the edited, re-published theme finding its way back on the downloads section, right ?   from the looks of things with the latest bigbox beta and the new Theme Manager it looks like there's going to be a review process in place before a theme is deemed allowed for download.

I'm all about fairplay, if I see a theme I like but I want to change it slightly for my own personal use then I should be able to do so, wouldn't you agree ?

i see what you mean, but i was thinking about when you upload your theme in the forums. So i guess its not a big deal. Cant wait to use the Editor.

You will not be able to open/import any Theme with this editor, but yes... if a Theme was created using this editor then you can import, manipulate it and re-publish it.

I think there should an option in the editor to disable or not allow editing of a theme after its published but the theme creator can still edit it obviously, so people cannot edit a theme without the theme creators permission. This way it minimizes so many variations of the same theme.

  14. I just tried the new theme Manager, and i like it so far, but if you have many themes like i do and you scroll down the list, the text doesn't scroll, only the selection box moves. Thanks again @Jason Carr for all your hard work?

    -Edit-

It would be a nice feature when in the theme Manager, when in the details tab you can click on an image and view it in full screen or if there is a video trailer of a theme.

And i can see a manager for startup videos, where you can download startup videos and choose the default video, and have an option to have it play a random video when you start bigbox.

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to reach the community on adding a locking feature to launchbox similar to that of bigbox.

I'm very new to the community and I've sent a message to the administrators and replied on another user's account asking for the same feature. I hope this topic isn't overkilled by me trying by reaching out too many sources asking for the same thing but as I said, I'm new here and I'm learning on how to navigate in this great community.

I hope to hear from other users and coders for this add on feature. I hope is a simple add-on.

    thanks.

I haven't seen that feature requested enough, but that doesn't meat that @Jason Carr wont consider adding it later.

  16. i hope that this helps you out

Thanks for letting me know. I thought i was doing something wrong. I was under the impression that 9.4 had enabled this feature already. Maybe i got it wrong. Thanks again.

No, the developers have to manually convert their themes.

    hello,

how do i apply a theme to just one platform and not the rest of the platforms?

When i make changes to a platform based on the system label, it keeps that theme and applies it to the rest.

    thanks.

go into a platform, and press J on the keyboard, and select the Coverbox theme for the platform, until @faeran combines the themes into one, that is the way to do it right now.
