  1. I was wondering if it's possible to have something like a TV platform and inside of it, maybe you could launch the Win 10 Netflix app and the SlingTV exe? Maybe others too like Amazon prime streaming, Hulu, and others.
  2. Hi, Is this just me? In Bigbox 6.8, any time I go into the Options menu and then Back and Back to the game wheel, it seems to hang up for several seconds (literally 15 seconds or so) before it gets to the game wheel and the app is frozen during this time.
  3. I would also like to see this as well as a default platform to land on. And if not using a default platform, land on the last one used.
  4. Thank you for thinking of an option. Initially my thought was to right click each platform to hide and select hidden, but that wasn't there, so I looked to filters. I kind of wanted easy custom platform lists I could choose based on the players. Like if the kids and their friends play, I would choose a set of platforms better suited to them, hiding games in each platform that don't work very well or have some other issue. If adults/teens play, have platforms with games that older kids or adults like, or just kiddie girlie games, or fighters, or whatever, but I like to keep games separated by platform most of the time. In some cases I may want to just use Favorites for games all in one as well, which I can currently do with LB. I hated Hyperspin because it was so hard for me to do things like this. Even Favorites are horrible in HS. I have no plans to ever go back to HS now that LB and BB are so great. Eventually I'd like to drop Rocklauncher also, but not yet.
  5. can't seem to get the filter i want. what i want to do is just show my favorite platforms on the left. all i can get it to do is show all my favorite platforms inside one custom filter name so the left side just has "Favorite Platforms". is it possible to somehow show on the left side of LB and BB only a list of certain platforms? That's what I'm shooting for. I don't want all the games from all the selected platforms to be together, but that is a valid filter to have as well so i wouldn't want to see that go away.
  6. ok, i killed the LB process. lucky for me, i did not have to restore a backup copy of lunchbox.xml
  7. Oh foo, I hope it's not stuck in some infinite loop and will force me to kill the process...Waiting still...
  8. In Launchbox, I went to create a custom filter so I could just show my favorite Platforms, which is really cool that you can create custom filters so easily! I LOVE that! I accidentally clicked on the Filter Values: "Title" drop down list selection. Oh boy was that a HUGE mistake as LB has been in its 'not responding' state busy trying to produce a drop list off around 23k items for me! hahaha. I'm going to try to wait it out to see if it ever snaps out of it and comes back to life (it's been like this minutes so far) so I don't have to kill the process and potentially corrupt my LB xml file again. I know it's doing something because one cpu is pegged on launchbox.exe. I suppose special code handling is needed for selections that may be enormous.
  9. ok, well at least i can right click and choose pause when using media player
  10. And just to be extra sure, I can toggle VLC and Media player and reproduce this every time when VLC is used. On each toggle I start so the game has to be extracted. I liked VLC better because I could pause the side bar video just by clicking on it. That doesn't seem to work when using Media Player.
  11. oh yeah the top setting lets you change in big box. but it was set to vlc already in big box. Yes, it only crashes when I have videos set to VLC in Launchbox. I doubt it has anything to do with "extracting" of games, but maybe that RocketLauncher activity and screen during extraction and possibly a transition from LB playing the video to a game going full screen is causing an issue somehow. Hopefully this is easy to reproduce so you can see yourself. I hope the memory dump also gives you a clue.
  12. My videos are mp4 in case that helps to reproduce it.

    xml issues

You can still see and modify a sqlite db with a free sqlite tool, but I guess it's not as easy as using a text editor. I understand that reason. If the performance/stability benefit isn't big enough, it makes sense to stick with xml I guess.
  14. I'm not sure why it worked in Bigbox. I don't see a setting to choose Win media player or VLC like in Launchbox. In Bigbox I just see it uses VLC in Options/Videos.
  15. Since I only just realized the event log noted a problem with VLC, which I had recently set in options, I decided to set it back to Win media player and try it. No more problem. Seems that the VLC included with Launchbox is related to the problem.
  16. I'm not really ok with uploading a zip of my computer's memory to a public forum for security reasons, but I can give it to you somehow in a less public way.
  17. This event viewer message is also logged by .NET Runtime: Application: LaunchBox.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address 0000000050319C17
  18. Hi Jason, the best I can tell is that a crash popup (i believe produced by Win 10 OS) about lunchbox stopped working comes up right after the extraction and start of the game/emulator. The only way I have found to get around this from happening is to launch the game from Bigbox and then try it in Launchbox. But as soon as the extracted game cache folder is cleared, Launchbox will crash again. I ran Microsoft's procdump tool with the wait-for-exception switch on lunchbox.exe and it caught the exception if you want it. IT's might not too helpful, but here is what Windows logs about it in the Event Viewer: Faulting application name: LaunchBox.exe, version: 6.8.0.0, time stamp: 0x57bc75ea Faulting module name: libvlccore.dll, version: 2.2.2.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000000079c17 Faulting process id: 0x14ec Faulting application start time: 0x01d1ff1138f71508 Faulting application path: R:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox.exe Faulting module path: R:\LaunchBox\VLC\x64\libvlccore.dll Report Id: 6dd4559b-81d1-46e7-8f5b-f6199bb34fc3 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: This is a major bummer. Hope to get it solved. Thanks for helping.
  19. I grabbed a memory dump of launchbox.exe with procdump for this crash which may help the developer, but I need to know who wants it and I will provide them with a dropbox link or some other way.
  20. Oh no!! Same exact issues now with Nintendo Gamecube games. =( Except that my Gamecube uses Dolphin. The emulator and game will continue to run and work after LB crashes. I'm not sure if it only started after upgrading from 6.7 to 6.8 or something else. But it seems to have only started after I upgraded to 6.8. I hope someone can help with this.
  21. On latest LB version 6.8, Win 10 x64. Every time I launch a dreamcast demul game from regular Launchbox, Launchbox crashes right after extracting the rom. Rocket launcher is used for Dreamcast and works fine outside of Launchbox. The weird thing is that if I launch the same games from Bigbox, the same games launch and work fine! After they launch fine in Bigbox, then they will launch ok in Launchbox, but only until I delete/clear the rom cache folder contents where the game rom .7z files are extracted to. So it seems like Launchbox only crashes if it has to wait for the rom to be extracted by RL. However, Bigbox is just fine if the rom has to be extracted first.
  22. Yeah, I don't know why the "Choose an Emulator" screen exists after clicking next from choosing the platform "Windows". This wizard could probably be much user friendly for adding PC games without much dev effort. I think adding PC games is probably a big one and very common for people to do.
  23. Hi, I use xpadder and xbox360/x-arcade controller for my game emulators, and xbox360 without xpadder for pc games when possible, but I don't want xpadder running when launching a Windows PC game from the Launchbox Windows platform, because a lot of PC games don't need xpadder and work better without it (i think). Is it possible for LB to kill xpadder before the PC game starts and then run it again after the game exits? Or some other similar solution? My setup is LB front end, but it is launching most emulators through Rocketlauncher, in case this matters. I don't know if this is good or not, but my emulators are mostly configured to use my xbox360 controller with xpadder running and to use my x-arcade dual joystick. And I assume I can control the LB interface navigation with my xbox 360 controller with xpadder running? Thanks.
  24. Cool. Nice job. I think you could hide the command shell by using this instead of only /c: start /minimized cmd.exe /c
