  1. hmm, now i can't seen to exit the emulator...
  2. it worked. hope a solution can be worked into the LB software in a future version.
  3. Yes, I saw it. I guess I will give it a try. I really wanted to avoid creating lots of batch files to workaround things though...
  4. oops, may bad, i also get this in regular Launchbox. idirectinput create device mouse failed. if i don't have Xpadder running, i don't get this issue. but i need Xpadder to be running.
  5. When I try to launch a Dreamcast game from Bigbox (via rocket launcher), I get a direct input error from Demul emulator. I am also using Xpadder for my 360 controller. Doing the same exact thing from regular Launchbox, I have NO issue at all. ??
  6. seeing a lot of posts related to this. doesn't look like there is a good solution. will set back to Rocketlauncher until I find a "simple" clean way to set this up.
  7. Hi I am trying to switch my .7z (with .gdi file inside, two track bins, and one .raw) dreamcast games from using Rocketlauncher to using LB. So, after the extraction, Demul pops up and that's it. No game launch. Works fine in RL. Any ideas?
  8. Hi I see that Bigbox has a loading screen during the rom unzip process which is perfect. But I wonder why there is nothing in regular LB except an hourglass pointer hang?? Can we have at least anything, even if it's super simple? Is there a way to add something?
  9. ok, i see it does what i was hoping. excellent.
  10. Hi, I am about to add my Dolphin emulator to LB for Wii and Gamecube, migrating them from Rocketlauncher. My Gamecube roms are compressed (.7z), Wii is .wbfs My question is can I add both platforms to this single emulator with check mark for 'Extract ROM archives before running', or do I need to create 2 dolphin emulators in LB where one has the extract setting and one does not? I'm hoping just one and LB will ignore the extract if rom does not match a known zip extension. After this I will select all these games to change the emulator from rocket launcher to dolphin. Thanks.
  11. No good. I tried installing a brand new LB to another drive and folder. I copied both the libvlccore.dll files to my main LB. Launching certain platforms as described in early comments causes the same exact crash of LB after LB runs the emulator.
  12. yeah, they play with no problems outside of LB. they also play fine within LB.
  13. auto correct. hahahahahaha
  14. had a deeper look at the xml file. looks like all the game specifics go first, so starting at the end of the file and climbing up towards <games> showed me what I was looking for. but what i saw is that there is no easy way to plugin via find/replace an absolute path for things in one fail swoop, and there is no setting for a Launchbox absolute root path. ok.
  15. Well I installed a free xml editor to have an easier look, but the file was apparently too huge for it and it kept crashing. Hahaha. Maybe try another xml editor later.

    Retroarch?

Researching so many little things is no fun. However, the Launchbox community and video tutorials is a huge help. Really appreciate your help. Thanks.

    Retroarch?

Thanks, that's good info to save. Yes I hate RL (I inherited it and want out, haha), but all I had to do in RL was use the gui to browse to the dtagent.exe (that's what Windows 10 uses) file for Daemon Tools and tell it what drive letter to use as the virtual drive. I think LB should have this type of setting in the gui, not requiring a batch file at all. The batch file is not "easy" at all unless you are lucky enough to find the right forum post.
  18. Hi, I don't really know xml terminology, but I'll try asking for something the best I can come up with without researching xml. My lunchbox.xml file is massive. I feel like it might be useful for me to know what the main "parents" are like I've seen <Settings>, <Game> , etc. Like if I wanted to change the path for the default Launchbox\Images\<platform> to something like R:\Media\<platform> , I don't really know what to search for inside that giant xml file. I know for one thing, I sure don't want to manually go inside every 'manage platform' platform to change them one by one. Ok, I could use a symlink, but I still want to know how to find stuff in the xml file easier (it's a beast!). Thanks.

    Retroarch?

Good to hear about zips. Hopefully it allows for a custom extraction folder and does automatic cleanup. I tried the latest Saturn Mednafen with correct bios files added, but it does absolutely nothing when I drop a cue file on it like I saw in a couple tutorials. If it's this picky about game images or is just plain buggie, I probably don't want to deal with it at all at this point, and also because it has no GUI for configuration. But I'm waiting for it to mature. Not in a huge hurry since SSF is working fine for me with LB and Rocketlauncher/Daemon Tools for all my Saturn games. Creating a batch file or other scripts or external tools and potentially adding another cd tool isn't exactly what I'm hoping for from LB to add a platform and emulator. I really don't want to end up with tons of external tools and batch files as a bandaid together with LB. But at least it provides an option to users that have no other setup. I'm waiting for LB to make those ones easy, one by one . I have faith it will come.
  20. I'm sorry, I'm not crazy about strong language either, but I have to say that every time I see the title of this topic, it makes me laugh!!

    Retroarch?

In the end I decided I'm a happier camper using stand alone emulators and Xpadder Seems to be the easiest way to get to use my keyboard, x-arcade, AND xbox 360 controllers for ALL games and just exit Xpadder for some of my PC games. It also seems easier this way for me to make video adjustments for each emulator. Very Slowly, I am trying to add my platforms from Rocketlauncher to pure LB. I just want one front end and launcher if possible. I haven't yet tried to see if LB handles things easily for my games that need to be decompressed first or for games like Saturn that also need cd image mounting stuff (i fear this may be labor intensive in LB, but no idea yet).
  22. Hi, Every time I choose the type of images to let LB grab using the wizard, I ask myself the question, "Hmm, check wikipedia also? Hmm, prioritize Emumovies over Launchbox?". I don't want the result to be a zillion files, but I want something for every game possible. If you check the same type of box art for both (like Box Front), is the result that you will have twice the amount or more of image files, or that you just get Emumovies if it exists and if it doesn't you get LB images? I have no idea here. So far I have just chosen to prioritize Emumovies over Launchbox. Is it better? I guess I just assume the images from Emumovies must be better, haha, but no idea! If on your first inexperienced run of getting images, you choose every single checkbox and then later decide you only really want a couple (say gameplay screenshot and box front), can you re-run the download images wizard to just get the ones you want and it will remove all the files you got before when you chose everything? So, anyway to do a cleanup? Or would it be best to just run a command line to delete all files inside every folder recursively and run the download image wizard again to just get what you want? Lastly when choosing the menu Tools->Download Metadata and Images, does that apply to your entire collection of platforms or only the platform currently showing? Assume ALL. Thanks.
  23. I try to stay away from installing codecs. Do you think L-Lite codec pack is safe?
  24. add platform additional apps > Was this ever added? This is what I would really like to see. I don't see it in 6.8 unless I just don't know where to look.
