Lol no need for apologies ;) I like to keep my system as clean as possible without installing exe's and such I won't use on a regular base. @zetec-s-joe asked my for a list of mame games I have. @GreenGriffon was it you that asked me this before? If so can you help me again to make that bat file?

No problem, happy to help. Just place this bat file in your roms folder and it will spit out a list of every file.

Listen smart arse, I can stay and play with you if you want or we can talk properly like adults, I don't know if you're one but you certainly don't act like it, this is something I expect from a 12 year old not an 80s arcade bro, maybe we can sort it out some other way, or maybe your ego is so big it needs taking down a few notches.

Or maybe you could just say "thank you" to Mr. Retrolust for spending months, just about every single day, to create and share these with the community.

If they're not to your taste, just move on. Your behavior here is ridiculous.

The thought is that generally, users who don't pay attention just want the recommended settings to be the defaults. Since we definitely recommend those boxes to be checked (especially for users who don't want to deal with it all), we'll leave those as the defaults.

I understand that logic. However, users often don't pay attention.

My argument was based on UI best practices. If the user has the ability to royally screw up their project at the touch of a button, it should be made more difficult to accomplish that, not easier.

I'll take that as a hard no and move on. Thanks.

  4. While we're on the subject, I think it would be a good move from a user experience perspective to leave the boxes for creating all of those playlists unchecked by default for the user.

I once forgot to uncheck those during an import, and it wreaked havoc with my existing playlists. I spent a great deal of time creating and tweaking those lists, some of which were named the same. It took quite awhile to clean up the mess.

IMO it should be left up to the user to affirmatively opt into making such a drastic addition to their collection.

Read only bad news on this and how does the system know it is a duplicate?

You complained that an LB feature resulted in you having duplicate videos. LB has a tool to remove duplicate videos and images.

As for any "bad news" you heard, I'm not sure what to say. I'm pointing out a built-in solution to your issue.

I assume this is not new for 11.8 but I found out that it is now possible to have more than one video per game and I dislike this. in the past I was choosing a bunch of games and said "download media" and ensure I that I have the newest set of videos in it. now I saw that some of my games in my library have three to four times the same video. messing my media library. Is there an option that I can choose "add a video" or "overwrite current media"?

Have you run the Clean Up Media tool? That should remove any duplicates.

  7. It's unfortunate that there are people who freely share their hard work, and others who are possessive or "elitist" about it. As Dreamstate seems to be saying, it sort of saps any motivation to be generous when people like that exist in the community.

Makes me all the more appreciative of people like Mr. Retrolust and many others who give so much to the hobby, but ask nothing in return.

Beta 11 is out now with the following:

    • New Feature: When editing platforms and changing the platform name, you'll now be prompted to optionally change all the platform folder names, and also optionally migrate all media (from the poll)

    • Some minor changes to VLC video playback that will hopefully fix some random crashes that certain users were getting on occasion

We could use some significant testing throughout LaunchBox and Big Box to confirm that the VLC changes don't negatively affect anything. Also, the new Add/Edit Platform window (with the associated batch editing features) could also use some extended testing. :)

That's a great new feature. I've run into this problem a few times, and it's a headache to do manually.

    Thank you.

anyone else having problems changing views in themes with the new beta release?

I've noticed a long-standing issue with changing theme views where after a certain number of times, they just don't seem to cycle properly. I can't explain it better than this, but after several key presses, the view seems to get "stuck" on a few views rather than cycling through the next in line.

I don't make any modifications to LB or use any plugins.
