  1. I use ledblinky as well, but I'm pretty sure it happened before ledblinky was in place.
  2. At this point we have to consider everything since we haven't found anything to isolate the issue. I'm using the neon arcade theme. I'll need to replicate the issue and I just noticed there are log files. Maybe there will be something in there to help pinpoint the issue.
  3. Well for me, I took time off the cab build then started back up on the LB configuring around August 2022. I updated to the latest release of 12.13 at the time and the issue was present. My PC was untouched since I last worked on it for about a year before this update and I never saw the issue back then, so I'd have to estimate somewhere between versions 11.12 and 12.13 the bug was born.
  4. @skizzosjt I appreciate the feedback, but at least in my case I don't believe that to be the issue. I have a dedicated high end PC running the show with nothing unnecessary installed and running. I've experienced the video blackout after numerous scenarios: BB as shell, windows as shell launching BB as soon as PC loaded and after the PC has sat idle and online for hours which excludes any startup tasks and services. If I repeatedly close BB and restart it, majority of the time it loads fine, but it's fairly easy to replicate the issue. I've even disabled antivirus and system backup to remove them from the equation. Any and all suggestions are welcome here guys.
  5. @Jason Carr @faeran @Lordmonkus Hey guys, I'm not sure who we should be pinging to get the right eyes on this, but hoping you can help. We (everyone in this thread) have spent countless hours building an arcade cabinet and a number of us appear to have a significant bug that intermittently occurs when launching BB. It's quite frustrating to have this occur especially when we are "showing off" our builds to friends and family. I'm happy to work through this with someone from LB, provide logs and anything else. Please help, thanks!
  6. @flanx wow, I appreciate the details very helpful and because of that it looks pretty straight forward. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again Flanx!
  7. @flanx I appreciate the offer. Sure, I'll take you up on this to get me started...so much for the simple platform add ;).
  8. @flanx correct. I'm currently only using keyboard inputs (down the road I'll be adding light guns, virtual pinball plunger and potentially controllers) and yes to the ipac assignments and firmware. Overall it's working great for mame, there are just a few oddities occurring in some of the 4 player mame games. Other than updating the grounding to be specific to the controls for their respective ipac, do you have any suggestions to address the windows single input issue? You're making me think that as I load other games, I'll experience a similar issue with them.
  9. @flanx interesting. I'm currently not using any controllers in my setup, but I have the 4-player cab with 2 ultimate iPac's and using ledblinky. I've only loaded one Windows game so far and seeing the 2-player control issue, but I am seeing issues with a few Mame games that just don't make sense to me relating to controls and behavior. I do have a single ground running to all controls, so guess I'll need to look into switching this up and see if it resolves the issues. Thanks for the response!
  10. @flanx I'd be interested if Andy comes back with anything. I have a similar setup as you and I just installed Killer Instinct 2017 via Steam and the 2nd player controls will not work nor save after I edit them in-game.
  11. Update from my post on October 5th, I tried putting the media player back to Windows and the issue persists, with both Windows Media player and VLC...both which have been suggested to use to resolve the issue. It is intermittent and does occur with any startup video. Majority of the time when the issue occurs, you can skip to the interface by hitting the button, but sometimes you need to outright shut the machine down. There are clearly many of us with the issue, so who can we get this in front of to look into this big?
  12. @narnz thanks, I'm going to give that a try as a long time ago the suggestion was to use VLC...perhaps something has changed.
  13. I enabled Bigbox to override Windows shell to start automatically when the PC starts. When this is configured, my 2 buttons assigned to volume stop working and if I reconfigure for Windows shell, the volume starts working. Is this a bug or is there another way to configure volume buttons so they continue to work when Bigbox is the shell?
  14. @jayjay I have the black screen intermittent issue with the startup video. Is there any way of applying this script to the startup process?
  15. I'd like to bump this. 5 months later, I continue to update to the latest versions of Launchbox, all drivers and Windows are current and I installed vlc as the default media player as I saw it was the recommended player somewhere for Launchbox and the issue still intermittently occurs. Only difference now is the audio doesn't seem to play anymore when the black screen occurs. If I hit any button to bypass the startup video, it then jumps right to Bigbox including audio as if nothing was wrong. Is there no one that is seeing this issue?
  16. No, I was referring to MAME for Arcade only. I took @neil9000's suggestion and switched the Arcade games to MAME default and the little testing I've done so far has worked great. I was able to verify 4 player Trog worked and that was the first time I've been able to get players 3 and 4 working. I need to test 6 button games for 1 and 2 yet, but I feel it will likely work or only require a little adjustment. I also saw the error "one or more roms/chds for this machine are incorrect. the machine may not run correctly." and I'm wondering if that is what I was recalling as the MAME issue. I found the solution for it here.
  17. Yes, I have the retropad mapped but it just doesn't seem to be providing the experience I was expecting and some controls do not work or do not seem to be where I place them, especially with games requiring 6 buttons. I was thinking after I posted last night to neil9000's comment that maybe I need to just use MAME for the arcade games and I can use retroarch for the other consoles. It's been a number of months since I've worked with the emulators as I wanted to finish the actual cabinet build but I seem to recall Retroarch had a higher rate of games working vs the MAME emulator, but I could be wrong.
  18. I'm having difficulty finding information on how to properly bind input controls to my arcade cabinet buttons which are assigned to keyboard keys. I understand I can access the retroarch menu from a game for a specific core to just remap a single core. My 4 player cabinet has players 1 & 2 having 6 buttons and players 3 & 4 having 4 buttons. I'm not understanding how to map the retropad buttons to the keyboard keys that are assigned to each arcade button. Can anyone help me understand how to configure this please?
  19. I've been focusing on my cabinet build so I recently fired the computer back up and permitted it to update Launchbox a couple versions. When I start BigBox, the startup video intermittently displays a black screen while the audio plays. Once the video completes, it then displays BigBox. I tried swapping videos and using different copies, but this occurs with any video (.mp4) that is placed in the Startup folder. This issue was never observed before I updated to the latest Launchbox. Any advice is appreciated.
  20. I’d like to request the ability to optionally change the default attract mode of random games to loop selected video(s). I would envision this as a checkbox to use video rather than default attract mode that would utilize the video “attractmode” in LaunchBox\Videos…similar to the “startup” video. Votes at bitbucket can be found at this link: https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6104/attract-mode-option-to-play-loop-video-s
  21. I'm designing my control panel and am wondering what the minimum inside depth is needed to ensure the bottoms of the buttons/joysticks/spinner/trackball does not hit bottom. I'm considering adding a feature inside the bottom of the control panel and thus why i need to know the minimum clearance as I don't want to design an overly tall control panel box. I'm looking at using ultimarc parts such as the servo stick, trackball, etc but don't see all the dimensions as to how deep they will sit under the panel top (bottom of mdf). Right now it looks like the trackball is the lowest at 2" under mdf, any idea about the servostik or possibly wires that must hang low? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
  22. I'm looking for recommendations for company/sites who do custom artwork design and print for the cabinet I'm building. The custom artwork may include some actual custom design, not just a new collage with existing artwork. All recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
  23. Thanks Retro808, I've submitted the request and can be found here for anyone looking to upvote it. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6104/attract-mode-option-to-play-loop-video-s.
  24. Thanks Mr. RetroLust, i've added this as a feature request. Anyone that would like to see this option should go upvote it to increase chances of implementation https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6104/attract-mode-option-to-play-loop-video-s. I've linked back to your post for additional visibility to your themes, thanks for the great work!
