  1. Bezel Art (letter E) 32 files for MAME

    View File

    Hi all,

These are my Mame Bezel Art files which include a "Lay" file (so can be dumped straight into the Mame artwork folder once you unzip the main folder. These files will be ideal for use direct into Mame and on a tv with 16:9 view.

Contains 32 files (letter E) of bezel arts from the internet, oh plus some of my own that I've cloned into two different glass views. I've opted for the "Real Frame Clear" and "Real Frame Glass" effect and just done left and right sides rather than all round as that would just take way too long and also I found a lot of the bezels found on the internet just take up too much of the screen and to compensate this you have to change the screen size. (the art1 files included are just the originals taken from the internet).

Both mame formats 4:3 Horizontal and 3:4 Vertical have been done. Once placed in the Mame Artwork folder start a game and Tab to Video Options pick which one you prefer "Clear" or "glass" and then you have to make a slight adjustement within the "Slider" tab for both Screen Horizontal and Screen Vertical (usually around .966 for both)

The games are taken from the rom set that I currently have so title names may slightly differ from the ones you have. (i'm happy to email anyone my Excel file with all the game names vs rom names, if needed)

For the games that I could not find any artwork at all for, I've setup a few standard looking sets  (6 Horizontal and 6 Vertical) which gives a view as if your in an actual arcade.

  2. Bezel Art Templates for Mame

    View File

    Hi All,

So I've uploaded some Bezel Art templates that can be used to create or just use as generic bezel art for games within mame. I use these for games where no artwork online can be found or is suitable for bezels but look better than just the plain Black borders. Here's what's held within the zip folders.

Vertical/Horizontal Templates = exactly that, blank templates that you can add you own artwork to (1920x1080).

Vertical 3:4 ratio with Clear Glass & Real glass finish, just copy and paste the folder onto your desktop, add your artwork I use the measurements 590x1080 (for each side) so it fills in the green space + a little more (but you can go less than this to fit within the green line), once saved rename the folder the same  name as the "rom" name and save it to the Artwork folder within mame. The "Lay" file is included

Horizontal 4:3 ratio with Clear Glass & Real glass finish, just copy and paste the folder onto your desktop, add your artwork I use the measurements 340x1080 (for each side) so it fills in the green space + a little more (but you can go less than this to fit within the green line), once saved rename the folder the same  name as the "rom" name and save it to the Artwork folder within mame. The "Lay" file is included

Vertical Arcade look Template = So these 4 templates can be used in the same way as above, but I use them for vertical games where the artwork on a usual 590x1080 template look too expanded/bloated. So look much better in a Horizontal format. So I came up with the arcade look around the edges and any artwork could be included using the measurements 340x1080 for each side. (makes some artwork fit/look better to the eye). The other file included in this zip is a Vertical Arcade Space (Tron) look. I just use this for games where there's no decent artwork available but the game is a space shoot em up.

Horizontal Arcade Look = so within this zip folder is 6 different looking Horizontal bezels that I use for horizontal games where I've been unable to find any decent artwork or the game is just too random to even bother with artwork. So I would just copy and paste to my mame artwork folder and just rename to whatever the "rom" file is called. The reason I made 6 was to just make is look a bit more different rather than just have the same generic look. The "Lay" file is included.

Hope you find these useful and maybe even encourage some people to create their own Bezel artwork for everyone to enjoy.

Must give a shout out to Derek Moore who initially created the original templates that I used to make my own templates with. He has an amazing video on youtube (link below) on how to create Bezel art using a free artwork package called GIMP. which about 4 weeks ago I had no idea how to even contemplate creating.

    so N'joy.

I have B, C, D and E to upload as well, and I'm currently working on the rest of the alphabet as and when I can.

    Hope you all likey likey.

  7. I was just sent a Mega download Link from a person at Emumovies. which is not readily available unless your aware of an FTP site. It has about 1600 folders with multiple bezel artwork for each one. The only thing is they all seem to be just clear screens, no glass effect. have asked how easy it would be to add this effect to them or woulld it be a case of cutting and pasting as I've been mostly doing. These other bezels may not be set up for a 16:9 ratio tv screen. (I maybe talking waffle cos tbh I'm a complete noob to all this)

  8. how easy is it to upload files to Launchbox? each folder is named the same as the rom title. and usually contains 3 .png files (original artwork from internet and then 2 from me real clear glass and real glass) plus a lay file.

  9. Hi Spycat, same here, I've just created 6 Horizontal and 6 Vertical Cab Styles like the pics above just for games in Mame where theres no real artwork readily available on the internet due to the age of these games. I rather use these instead of having a blank screen either side. These ones seem to work perfectly with Mame 4:3 and 3:4 ratio games with just a tiny adjustment within mame.

I've made a few of my own ones so far and tweaked others that have been posted up to go with my bezel. I'm making 2 bezels for each game a clear glass and a real glass look with a nice reflection.

here's one I made earlier for Bubble bobble Lost cave. only took about 5 minutes to do but really can't spend too much time on each one as it will take way to long.

when you mention software system side of mame do you mean like the Neo Geo games?

  10. Hi All, So having stumbled recently into Mame Bezel artwork I thought mmm....this looks much better than having those annoying black overscan borders on every game. So after surfing the net I found that theres quite a lot available but then so many titles are missing, some are oversized, some are undersized, some are bad, some are excellent, but most of all they are not the correct format for using direct with Mame as no "Lay" file. Now I know that some people use retroarch/Rocketlauncher, and can setup the bezel artwork really well on it without the need of a "Lay" file. But hey I set my Launchbox/Bigbox up to play direct through Mame and don't want to change anything now as I like the setup (apart from the obvious.... borders lol).

So after watching numerous youtube videos I finally got the bug after watching a great tutorial video on Bezel artwork from Derek Moore (using the free art package GIMP).

I like the way his bezel templates have been formated, in line with the 4:3 Horizontal and 3:4 vertical aspects of arcade games and I especially like the Original Glass CRT screen look which had a nice reflection/scratched look about it.

Off and on over the last couple of weeks I've been alphabetically going through my mame games list of roughly just over 1900 and using existing bezel artwork, artwork on the net, box art ect ect to make my own bezel art for each and every game on my list in the format that I like and which can be dumped directly into the Mame artwork folder. I've just finished A-C (including numeric games) roughly about 380 bezels. Now some games have hardly any artwork to use or the artwork available is just naff, so I came up with some standard looking bezels (see attached examples H&V), I did using someone elses bezel idea but I just tweaked it a little and I made a few rather than just the same one. My artwork like Derek Moore' has just artwork at the sides rather than top and bottom as this would have taken an age to do for each title.

I've saved original bezels that I obtained from the net along with the two versions that I created (Clear Glass and Real Glass effect) in individual folder names (mame rom list) with a standard "Lay" file. so it will be a case of dropping them into the Mame artwork folder and just tweaking the horizontal and vertical tabs in mame to fit perfectly within the window.

Anyway after all that waffle my question is, does this interest anyone at all?

Just thinking once I'm all finished I may upload these to emumovies or somewhere so people can take them, use them or even add their own ideas to them.

    Regards, Adam

  11. Hi DaveC, thanks for the reply. yes I recently set this system via the tutorial by Launchbox and used the latest download of Supermodel R680-x64

maybe it's something more to do with the resolution as I set it to 1240x960. but tbh as I'm a complete noob to all this I really don't like messing around with tweaking stuff but I guess I'll have to give it a go.

Just seems that every game runs perfectly apart from this whitening on characters and certain textures background ect.

  12. Hi There,

So I setup Sega Model 3 the other day using the Launchbox Tutorial video. The Games load up and I have sound and the backdrops but the moving screen characters/ backgrounds are all White images. any ideas how this has happened and how I can resolve the issue? Any help would be most grateful

    I'm running this on a Intel i7-3770 34.4ghz 8gb Ram 64 bit windows 7. with an AMD Radeon R7 360 Series GC.

    Regards, Adam

  13. I guess the reason why I have duplicate roms on launchbox is because of the two different filenames

    the files are named as

    ._Mario Party 6 (USA).7z

    Mario Party 6 (USA).7z

if I can delete a file, which one do I delete? and what is the easiest way to delete it?

    so many questions, sorry Newbie!
