  1. I tried deleting anything in either of those folders and still nothing. I attached my 2 ini files, maybe I have something wrong? I haven't ever used any cheats or anything, the only thing I have done is for some games I would set the custom config file for controls and set them to "read only" to avoid them being over written, but the games I've been testing the high score settings with don't have a config that I did that to. I don't know if it is something to do with the no nag version of mame? Or if something else is wrong. I have both the mame.ini as well as plugin.ini in the root mame folder. I see a folder named "hi" and within the "plugins" folder there is a subfolder named "hiscore" and within that are 4 files "hiscore.dat" "init.lua" "plugin.json" and "sort_hiscore.lua." I never placed any of those files there, they were auto generated I think. Would I be better to switch to a different version of mame than the no nag or is that probably not the issue? mame.ini plugin.ini
  2. I’ve never used cheats or anything...so I don’t know any games that would have them lol
  3. It is, I'm not sure what the problem is. I have the "mame.ini" in the root folder, as well as the "plugin.ini" I have plugins set to 1 in the mame.ini and hiscore set to 1 and cheat set to 0 in the plugin.ini. But it's not saving my highscores at all. Not sure what the issue is.
  4. I know this question has been asked before, I am trying to get Mame no save my high scores, I saw a different thread that said to change the "0" to "1" for the plugins line in the "plugins.ini" file, I did this but my scores are still not saving and I'm not sure why. I'm running the no nag version of .216 with a .216 rom set, I'm not sure what I'm missing to make this work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  5. I just wanted to share with the forum what my first full cabinet build turned out like. I am not a handy person by any means, but am very proud of the fact that I built this by myself, with the exception of a few things. I am still fine tuning all of the lighting with LEDBlinky and fixing any issues I find while playing games or anything. I am lucky enough to work in a print shop so I was able to print and install my own graphics. I used the design of the "Pathways" cabinet and "Flynns Arcade" that I saw in the arcadecontorls.com forums and used that as my starting point for the look. I'm really proud of the way it turned out and love the way it looks. I Still have some little things I want to do, get slip rings for the rgb wires on the joysticks to keep thing from tangling (unless someone has a different suggestion). I also in the future would like to switch to using 2 PACLed64's and a iPAC 4, I think I could lay those out better and wire manage better with those (my wire management left a lot to be desired with my iPacUltimate and 1 PACLed64, but it works). In the future I may switch to wireless controllers rather than wired for console games that use them, this would also solve the issue of retroarch being difficult to assign device order to. Other than those things I don't know what else I would change with this current build. I am running my old pc as the emulation machine, with some upgraded parts to make it run some things a little better, here is this rigs specs: i3-9100F 3.6Ghz Geforce GTX 970 SSC 4GB 16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD 1TB Storage Drive Gigabyte B365M Motherboard Liquid Cooling for CPU DIYPC Cuboid-R Black/Red tower Let me know what you think, was happy to finally be able to share my cabinet!
  6. Ya I can see why it's not as simple with Retroarch, even if I can't get these figured out to be ordered the way I'd like it's not really a problem, just makes you have to figure out which controller is which when you load up games, annoying but not that big of a issue, at least for me.
  7. Yes they are the only controllers I have, I have 4 PDP brand Xbox One Controllers, they are wired not wireless.
  8. Here is the log file. I don't know if my configs for my cores and controllers are currently overriding the devreorder or something, I have 4 auto configs for my Xbox Controllers, They are named Xbox One Contoller (User 1), Xbox One Controller (User 2), etc... I don't know if those and the configs I have to each core are interfering or something with devreorder or what. retroarch-log.txt
  9. I don't have the log to file, Not sure why not.
  10. I redownloaded that exact file, ran the devicelister and made sure I put my controllers in the order I wanted them in, I'm more than positive that I'm running 64bit retroarch, but tried both dll files to see if I was wrong, neither made it work. I attached my ini file, maybe I didn't set it up correctly? I've just been putting the ini and dll files in the root retroarch folder where retroarch.exe is. Not sure what or if I am doing anything wrong, if it doesn't work it isn't a big problem, would just be nice knowing which is player 1 - 4. Thanks for all the help @Headrush69 devreorder.ini
  11. I downloaded devreorder but can't seem to get it to work. I'm not sure if I set it up correctly. I downloaded the entire repo from github, but the instructions made me think that all I needed to do was put the "dinput8.dll" as well as the "devorder.ini" files in the retroarch folder where the main retroarch.exe was located. I used the devicelister.exe to list my devices to get the GUID and I put those in the order I wanted, but it isn't working. After a reboot the controllers go back to whatever order they load. Maybe I didn't understand the instructions for how to set this up?
  12. Is it possible to make the controllers for retroarch static, so that after reboot or being plugged in/out the controllers stay ordered as player 1, 2, etc... I asked the same basic question earlier today about Mame and found my answer with the reply I got by using the stable id setup with mame, is there something similar you can do for retroarch to keep the controllers always assigned to the same player?

    Mame Help

Thanks for this response! I was able to set the static ID and changed the mame.ini settings that needed it, still working on figuring out if the save state is what I'm wanting, but if having the rom check screens is the worst issue I have to deal with I will take it!

    Mame Help

I have a few little issues I am trying to figure out if there are solutions to, neither of them are overly problematic, but if there is something to fix them that would be cool to. The first is I have a trackball on my cabinet and whenever it gets unplugged it sometimes changes the mouse number when plugged back in, is there a way to keep the device always the same every time it is plugged in? Second question, a lot of mame games have rom check screens when you load them, I am already running the "no nag" version of .216, but is there a way to bypass these rom checks with games so that you load straight in, this is more for the aesthetics of having a seamless transition from LB to the game itself. Last question, I have the majority of trackball games working, but I've found that certain trackball games don't register the trackball, some of the golden tee games for example. It seems the issue is certain games don't pick up when the trackball would be Mouse 2, and only register a single mouse device, not sure what the issue is with these games, or if there is a setting to make them work. Any insight into any of these would be greatly appreciated, these forums have taught me a lot as I've built my cabinet and am very grateful to all the people who contribute. Thanks!
  15. Well that's a bummer, oh well though! Thanks for your help @arzoo!
  16. I am currently setting up my cabinet and am getting everything configured with LEDblinky, which for the most part I've had no trouble with since I figured out how everything works. Something I am trying to do is get the trackball to change color per player for games like Golden Tee, is this possible? If so how would this be done? My other question is how do you turn off the led joystick in games like Golden Tee, it lights up whatever color the trackball is, I read the support to disable anything with joysticks in mame, but the tab menu doesn't have any joystick options listed (at least in Golden Tee 2k). Any help would be great! Thanks!

  18. I didn't realize that a newer Mupen64plus core was available for retroarch, so I downloaded it (mupen64plus-next) and it seems to run a lot smoother than the normal mupen64plus core. I'm noticing a couple bugs that I don't know how to fix and was looking for any advice or suggestions for them. 1. I've noticed some games will load and then freeze, but after restarting the game the game runs just fine, the initial start of the game seems to be the problem, is there a way to force the game to restart on startup or something along those lines? 2. The mupen64plus-next core when it is in 4:3 doesn't fill the screen like the 4:3 setting in the original mupen64plus core, I tried setting the scaling to custom and making it how it needs to be, but it seems like that it would need to be done for game to game and just setting it in the core config didn't adjust the screen for all games. Any ideas for fixing this as well? Those are the only things I've noticed so far, and maybe people have better suggestions for what emulator or core works best for the 64, I'm open to any and all suggestions to get the best performance with the 64 games. My PC specs are: i3 9100F 3.6Ghz GeForce GTX 760 32GB RAM Windows 10 Pro
  19. You are my friggin' hero. I'm still learning how to set everything up with retroarch and now I know how to setup core specific controls. Thanks a ton!
  20. I'm having issues getting the beetle psx core controls to work properly, I got my buttons on my controller (xbox one wired pdp controller) mapped how I want but no matter what I do every time I exit the emulator it reverts the input device type to "Playstation Controller" and I have to manually go back and change it to "Dualshock" in order for the joysticks to work, the button mappings stay the same, I just cant get it to keep so the joysticks work whenever I open a playstation game. Anybody know how to fix this?
  21. Ya that’s what I figured. Playing around with RL and LB with Redream i was able to make pause work by have the RL pause key be the same, but it makes the RL pause load behind the LB pause, so when you resume game from LB pause it takes you into the other pause screen, but if you click pause again and resume again it works. So it works, just not well lol.
  22. I looked into Redream and I really like it. My question now becomes, I am using demul to run my Sega Naomi games and Redream for Dreamcast, I am launching them through rocketlauncher in order to have bezels load for them. Is there a way to get the pause menu to work with them launching through rocketlauncher? Or a way to add bezels to them outside of using rocketlauncher?
  23. I'm working on getting all of my emulators working properly with the pause menu, is it possible to get Demul to work with the launchbox pause screen? Or would I need to switch to flycast?
  24. I just rebuilt my emulation computer and would like to move launchbox from the HDD and move it onto the SSD, I tried just copy and pasting the launchbox folder onto that drive and it gave me an error message. I don't want to have to install launchbox fresh and re-import everything again. Any help would be great. Thanks, Nick
  25. I tried enabling that earlier and it didn’t make a difference really, maybe I’ll try overclocking my CPU and enabling that and see what happens. I may not have everything optimized for my setup or something too, I’m still learning how to properly set everything up with MAME.
