Steam grid images

I would love to see a feature that would use Steam grid images instead of the standard front images. Is this possible? Steam grid images can be found using this:
cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/[game id]/header.jpg

Can I suggest adding some kind of scraper for http://steambanners.booru.org/index.php once the feature is implemented? I'm pretty sure this is where programs like Ice draw from when incorporating custom banners in Steam itself.

Jason Carr said Hi Fluffo, yup; right now that's the only way to do it. I'm hoping to add an option to "prefer Steam banners" before the official release. I think it might be a premium feature though.
I think that would be a nice premium feature. Is there any place where I can see the BETA changelog?

Jason Carr said Nope, not really. It would just take too much time to document all of that, unfortunately. So the changelog is only for things that make it in the final release, and only things that are different than the previous official release.
Ok. Thanks.

You know what, though, you should follow this thread: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/launchbox-beta-testing That's probably the closest thing we have to a changelog for the betas. I did just put out a new beta with that prefer Steam banners premium option. :)

That update is what made me come here asking about BETA changelogs. Is there any way to remove the excess space between the image and text? Example (The blue area): http://gyazo.com/16e0eeb6b4417eaec219702dcc135388 (I will be back in about 10 hours)

Jason Carr said Yup, in the premium version you can customize the "aspect ratio." An aspect ratio of 1.45 seems to work pretty well; you can specify it in Options under Spacing.
I tried doing that but it will also make everything bigger and only show 4 games per row instead of 7 when I have the smallest view possible.

I'm a bit late to the party but I noticed that you can tweak that manually. Just open up LaunchBox.xml in the LaunchBox folder with your text editor and modify the line containing the "BoxSize" tags (somewhere near the end of the file where settings reside) to a negative number. From my observation it must be integer and can only go down to -5, i.e. -1, -2, -3, -4, and -5 are working. This helps greatly when using wide images e.g. Steam banners instead of covers. The aspect ratio however can not be tweaked further than 1.45 using the xml. The applications seems to validate the range and resets it automatically. Cheers!
