MameUIFX64 not holding onto gamepad configuration?

Using MameUIFX64 with 2 wireless xbox 360 controllers I have saved my gamepad settings (multiple times) using the tab key while in a game (under general settings), then exiting out. The next time I restart the pc and open mame inside launchbox, all of my gamepad settings are back to default. the mame folder is stored on the root drive and has full readwrite permissions. I cant for the life of me seem to figure this out. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

You would need to be more specific what type of options do you mean? In my case since I have a dual monitor system in my bedroom I have both a horizontal and vertical monitor I have different default settings for vertical games then horizontal games this can be set by right clicking on the category in the side menu ie right click vertical and uncheck the default enforce aspect ratio then I go and change all the vertical games to open on my vertical monitor but that is for my use case I would need to know more about what you are trying to do. If you want to do this on a smaller scale you can do the same for individual games using the same method I described.

For instance, I just changed my hlsl to OpenGL and glsl shaders in the default options... then I am finding a bunch of games that did not change (I also have a dual monitor setup with one vertical). So, I am having to go through and change the same options for a bunch of individual games.

I think that's what it is... it's not a very good system because a person has to remember all the stuff they have changed, down to the individual game settings to be able to make global changes, and it's more time consuming. The global settings really should override all the other categories, etc... Anyway, thanks for the help in figuring that out. At least I know what to do, I think.

PersonallyI think that it makes more sense that your individual settings get priority over your category settings and that your category settings get priority over your global settings if not how would you be able to set any other settings because the global settings would keep getting priority so setting the other settings would be a waste of time.

It knows when you make a single change because the change is in a highlighted blue or purple color in the options... so those single changes should be global (when made from the global options dialog)... IMO... I'm sure it's not going to change at any point, though, and it's really just a matter of I need to learn how it works. lol :)

DOS76 said Try your MAME.ini file and see if WriteConfig is set to 0 if it is change it to 1. I've had this issue with video settings not being remembered.

Thanks for this tip. My WriteConfig was set to 0, so I changed it to 1... Will test over the next few days and report back. Appreciated!

Changing from 0 to 1 unfortunately did not help for me, but thanks for the tip. Seems windows 10 behavior again creating headaches with Xbox wireless controllers. The port assignments keep changing on my wireless gamepads each time windows starts. In addition, Ever time I restart my PC, mameui64 continues to loose all saved gamepad settings. Unfortunate that I can't seem to get an all in 1 solution working for all platforms in a windows environment. Not a launch box issue at all.... Its just a windows thing I guess. We are able to get sooo close to an all in 1 solution with launchbox, but windows keeps making this a challenge. If I switched to wired controllers, it might work better but its not an option since I am trying to use this in a living room like a console and 14 feet away from the screen.
