Enverex
I'm trying to import my library but noticed a lot of duplicate games. It turns out that LaunchBox is adding games with multiple discs multiple times, for example if I have... Game A.iso Game B (Disc 1).iso Game B (Disc 2).iso Game C.iso I'll end up with the following in LaunchBox... Game A Game B Game B Game C ... even with import duplicates set to off. How do I work around this? (manually removing any additional disks would be a nightmare, especially on platforms like PSX which had a lot of them). DOS76
During the import there is a form in the wizard that shows you all the game names and paths you use that. Find all the extra disks highlight them and press delete.
Enverex
That's rather fiddly and slow. Is there a way of masking these filenames so they're not even picked up?
DOS76
Add the files through drag and drop and exclude the ones you don't want if they are in sub folders use Windows Explorer search option to show what ever file type that you want. This process if not automatic and it does require the user to put forth a little bit of effort.
SentaiBrad
Add files not folder. Or rename them manually like I do. There is no way to filter that automatically and the way it imports now is by design.
Enverex
The files are already named properly so renaming them isn't an option. Importing files again isn't an option, the whole point of importing by folder is so that you don't have to pick things manually when importing 2000 files or so. Manually going through a list of several thousand files and unselecting (and making sure you don't miss) any extra disk files is far from ideal. When I coded my own scraping software this was one of the first thing I had to account for so I find it hard to believe that LaunchBox has got this far along and doesn't have a mechanism for excluding additional discs/disks automatically (Side B, Tape 2, Disk 2, Disc 2, etc). Surely there's a menu option or something to handle this? If not, can I throw it onto the recommended features list as I'm honestly amazed it's not already a thing. DOS76
Not everyone wants to exclude the multiple disks on import. I always import all the disks this way I know what games have multiple disks then I create additional apps for those games under disc 1 and then delete them this ensure all my multidisc games get setup how I want them. SentaiBrad
Because honestly it's not that huge of a problem, and Jason is 1 man doing all of this alone. Parsing of Disc's has been on the list for a while so that when they are imported they're marked with the Disc portion. Scraping the first time around is strict, hence why everything between ( ) and [ ] is ignored, so adding in Disc or Disk makes it come up false when searching. It's not that simple of a fix, It requires a lot more logic and parsing capabilities. It can even potentially slow down scraping.
