Submission Reminder

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

a quick reminder when submitting new media or changing existing ones.

Since we're going with regional titles / alternate names we need the media to have regional titles as well.

So please submit the new media under the corresponding category.  We should block submissions without a regional tag.

If the regional tag can later be added by users I don't know if blocking any submissions is the best course of action especially if their other submitted data is accurate. That being said since I don't really contribute any work to the DB if a majority of the DB people agree with this I could see it being considered.

I think that it's preferred that we have the correct region, to be sure, but blocking seems extreme.

And let's not forget that for some games, the media could correspond to more than one region. For example, if I hypothetically posted a screenshot of Super Mario Bros. 1, I couldn't accurately tell you what region it came from, because every single country had the same ROM distributed on differently labeled cartridges.

Problem is scraping, I'll scrape super mario for the nes and in the future we can scrape as (euro) specific country or jp etc. what will happen with the images without a region?

True but it doesn't make sense uploading a something with no context what so ever. For example a N64 Cart Image with a big T for Teen in the Cover  is obvious not an european game. If the country is unknown you still can upload it under worldwide.
