I thought I read you can play on your tv

is there a way to play on your tv as in like casting or stream without a hdmi cable? or???  what do you mean use it in the living  room?

Unless your TV has a casting or streaming device built into it you will need something that is HDMI to connect to your TV. Steamlink is used by a few people around here. You could probably use a Chromecast but in the past there was a lot of input latency that would hamper the experience (no real world experience with this saw it on YT).

i have a smart tv and chrome cast from a older tv i had. 

well where is the cast feature in big box?  or I would have to just a  cast software to capture my pc?

There isn't one built into BigBox to use through the Steam Link you have to setup BigBox as a nonsteam application and cast it from Steam but it works exceptionally good. I don't have any experience with the Chromecast so Google is your friend here search Windows Gaming on Chromecast.

i have connected my laptop to tv with a hdmi cable you can see everything from my pc but once you start a game it doesnt show on my tv

You will need to tell the emulator to use the second monitor im guessing.

depends on the emulator for RA you go into settings Video and then set the monitor index
