JDarcade Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Does Super Famicom need bios? I'm having problems getting the roms to work. When I use bsnes_balanced I just get a black screen and can only get out of Retroarch by ctrl, alt, del to kill the process. I tired another core and that one would just give me an error that it fails to load. Quote
Lordmonkus Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Depends on the game and the exact core. There are "special chip" dumps for certain games like Mario Kart and the Mega Man X games that are required in the \system folder. Try using the Mercury version of the BSnes core, it can emulate these chips at a high level. You may have to double check in the "Core Options" for it to make sure it is set to HLE. If it is set to LLE then it requires those special chip dumps. Quote
heelsinc Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I was having the same issue with a few games and finally realized they were all those chip games. Does any emulator NOT require chip file that can be used for those games? Quote
neil9000 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 As @lordmonkus stated above the bsnes mercury cores emulate those chips in software, so try one of those. the balanced one is probably best, but if you have a good cpu in your system you can try the bsnes mercury accuracy core. Quote
JDarcade Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 Mine seams to be working but I can't for the life of me find that menu. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
neil9000 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 You need to launch a snes game then open the quick menu, either f1 on the keyboard or usually the guide button on a xbox pad. Once in the quick menu scroll down to options. 1 Quote
