justanothergamer Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Do I need to get a PC for launchbox? If so any cheap recomendations? Quote
DOS76 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Yeah definitely do need a PC and as for specs they vary widely considering what your emulation and gaming goals are. Quote
justanothergamer Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 cool, id like to be able to play Amiga, NES up to playstation 2 stuff probably. and watch films etc. Quote
neil9000 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Weird, I am seeing this question 6 times in the activity feed but only 1 has @DOS76's reply in it???????? Quote

DOS76 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I would suggest getting a half way decent PC with at least an i5 processor 16GB or RAM and a Nvidia card but you can get away with less really depends on what you are willing to spend. Quote
DOS76 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 yeah no worries my cats stand on my keyboard and do all types of funky shit to it. Quote

justanothergamer Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 cool thanks guys... would you say it's worth going the PC route then and not getting a front end for a Mac instead (I know you guys are bias though lol) And niel..Max the dog says thanks and he's sorry! Quote
neil9000 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Well yes we are slightly biased, but we are just users like yourself also. If you want a easy to setup, beautiful setup then Launchbox/Bigbox is the way to go. Quote
justanothergamer Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 cool looks like a PC it is then! Quote
GzStation Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Hi! The alternative for mac is https://openemu.org/ It's not as sofisticated as LaunchBox but it do a really good job.! Enjoy! P.S.: By the way... I've got many Mac and Pc... now, for all my emulator gaming library and Steam to stream my games. I use a PC Full tower to have enough room to stuck my HD and change my video card when a new one is available to make my VR flight sim gear work better (X-Plane 11 with a real simulator gear ) I use my Mac as Steam client to make the bridge from the PC to my Mac to play. ArGii Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Do you think in the near future you'd be able to port a version to the new M1 Macs since you previously worked on an Android version? Or would it still be the issue of the App Store and its permissions? These new M1s are looking promising for emulation gaming. Quote
