Confused-MAME with LB and Retroarch

Have only been using Launchbox for less than a week.  Figured out how to add some of the console games and have been pretty successful at doing that.  The last couple days I have been trying to get Launchbox to work with MAME and Retorarch.  I got it to work, but am having a problem with some of the roms.  On the configure screen I did not select for it to load all the clones and hacks.  So, obviously Galaga with the fast shoot hack did not show up.  I have been trying to import it GalagaMF but can't seem to figure out how to do it.  I know it is merged with GALAGA.ZIP (GalagaMF.)  I have deleted Galaga and then tried to read it so I could reconfigure the types of roms that I want to import, but I do not get that configure screen.  Then it comes up with 0 files added.  I even tried to remove all the MAME games and rescan but still do not get that configure screen.  Any help would be appreciated.

There is an option to force MAME setup on one of the forms in the import wizard.

I think I understand what you are saying but if I am misunderstanding something let me know.

Merged rom sets are not recommended for use with Launchbox at this point in time because how they are packaged makes it very difficult to determine which rom you want to run. We recommend Split or Non-Merged sets for now, plans for better supporting Merged sets are being made for the future and should be in the next batch of features on next poll in a couple of days.

If you are trying to import 2 versions of the same game you will want to force LB to import duplicates, it is one of the options during import. I have this done for several Mame games that have 4 player and 2 player variants such as Gauntlet and TMNT for example.
