reaper71129 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I have a set up with all north american consoles, portables and mame.... i have read about cool systems like the x68000 and such... as it is japanese and most of it's games are ports of arcade games... is there really any good reason to emulate it since you can play the arcade version on mame? what is everyone's opinion on this? Charco Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Yeah, the Motorola 68000 CPU was used in a lot of arcade boards at the time, so the Sharp x68000 is home to a wealth of arcade perfect ports. Capcom actually used x68000s as their dev machines for their CPS1 games. Whether it's worth emulating is really down to the number of x68000 exclusives you might be interested in playing. Theres a great version of Castlevania on there called Akumajou Dracula and the system has quite a few exclusive shoot 'em ups that are worth checking out, Cho Ren Sha 68k being worthy of mention. If you are into shoot 'em ups, it's worth checking out as it's a genre that is English-friendly. If you are already using RetroArch, there is a good x68000 core available. Quote
Lordmonkus Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 There are some very good exclusive games on it, it has a pretty large library. I like to do a selected import of X68000 games just because there are so many and because of the multi disk mounting for a large number of games which makes it a bit of a pain in the ass to work with. 1 Quote
reaper71129 Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 mostly shoot'em ups... and a pain to set up.... i might pass on this system... Quote
Lordmonkus Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 There are some things to alleviate it's setup but it's still not just straight up easy like most systems. Quote
