Trackball not working when Mame launched through Launchbox

Thank you for the quick reply, but that did not work either.  I have teh .ini file in the same folder as the exe file and did everything else.  Any other ideas?

Which Golden Tee game are you trying to get working ? After some quick testing here on my end the first Golden Tee game doesn't use the trackball, it uses a joystick but Golden Tee Classic does use the trackball and the settings I posted do work and through LB.

Thank you.  I am using GT 2K, it works with the trackball in Maximus Arcade just not through LB/ BB.  I am using the X-Arcade Tank Stick.  Should I delete MAME and reinstall it?  Any other suggestions?  Just so I am giving you all the info, I have Mame64 running with retroarch and Launchbox/ Big Box.

I haven't used Maximus Arcade in a very long time and even then it was only briefly, does it have its own configuration files for emulators like how RocketLauncher does ? or does it use the emulators config files ?

Every one of my trackball games work through LB using the standard command line version of Mame. My HTPC has a Tankstick hooked up to it with a full Mame rom set and all the trackball games work.

Just tested this out on my main system and the mouse works perfectly when loading through Launchbox.

Ok I am going to reinstall Mame and see if that works. And send an update in like 2 hours. And I did not do any config work with Maximus it just worked right as I plugged it in. Thank you

Not sure what is going on with my reply, but even after installing MAME again It is not working.  What can I show you to see if someone can help me.  Do I need to reinstall Retroarch?  Would that screw up all the info I have downloaded?

Oh, you are using Retroarch ?

I think RA handles all that in the core options but i'm not sure, I only use the stand alone Mame.

Yeah, I don't like the Mame core in RA for a few small but personal preference reasons.

So maybe this is my issue. Is there a video on how to set this up directly without RA. I was told to use by a friend that set it up but I do not care as long as everything works

It does but I cant remember exactly where it's all at, it could be in the core options in the quick menu or maybe in the Tab menu, i'm not sure.

I am working on it now.  When setting up the Rom path, I have a lot of different folders like Sega, Mame, NES and so on. They are all under the E directory and that is all that is in this directory.  Can I just point it to E or do I have to list each subfolder?

Just played some Centipede with my mouse help turning up the mouse speed for me using logiteck k400r but it definitely isn't as good as having that trackball would be

You have to do each path, you can add multiple paths by separating them with a semi colon ";" and you should probably surround the whole thing in quotes.

So for example you will want something along the lines of this:

rompath      "E:\path1\to\roms;E:\path2\to\roms;E:\path3\to\roms"

I would recommend other emulators for consoles, Retroarch and the their console emulator cores are best for those.

You can do some consoles with Mame but that is a bit more advanced and takes some extra effort to do because of bios and command line requirements and Mame emulation for consoles for the most part is not best though that does vary from system to system.
