2 questions about LaunchBox Images, Plex and media center

Hi guys.

1. I have a friend that has a plex server and since plex has terminated plugin support, launchBox will not be able to add that plugin (as mentioned in a separate thread). But if my friend grants me access to its server, can LaunchBox be used as a media station like that (somehow)? Does it require alot of tinkering?

2. Do people share LaunchBox images similarly to what people do with RPi images? If so, when a person shares a BigBox image, will I be able to use that image (with its due limitations ofc)?

Thank you for your time.

For number 1 you will have to be more clear are you trying to access the content of your friends Plex Media Server through LB?

For 2 by images you mean whole images including roms and all we don't condone that or share them with each other.

Hi DOS76, thank you for your answers.

1. I don't know how I would access my friends server, my question was more like if it is possible to use BigBox as a media server but the server is not local, I must access remotly. How? I dont know yet xD

2. It doesn't have to be images with roms. It can be something like a portable version of BigBox, with all dependencies needed, all emulators configured with the proper bios installed (for those who need it), controllers configured, cool themes applied, etc. Where one just has to add its roms (and load them into LaunchBox).

1. No you can not use Launchbox/Bigbox as a server like plex it must be installed on your system, or at worst on a network drive, but that likely wont work to well running the actual program from.

2. Bigbox is paid software, so it will never be distributed like that, and if we see that it is we will block the License. Also distributing bios files is also highly illegal, just as bad as roms. Also most open source emulators have terms and conditions to there open source licence, and one of those is they can not be distributed with paid software.

So in the end, no it cant be used as a server, and no it can not be distributed in the way you are asking.
