e2zippo Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Hey! Trying to add Resident Evil 2 Remake to my collection, but it keeps scraping it as the old version. I check the launchbox database and the remake is there. It keeps mathing ID:3972 It should match this one. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/102939 But when I try to search for it, I can only find the above. https://imgur.com/a/wjyhdy9 Any ideas? OK, i just checked and i was getting the same. How i got around it was by putting in the Japanese name, so, Biohazard RE:2 When i did that it found it and automatically renamed it to Resident Evil 2. I tried searching for Biohazard but that didn't work. You have to search for Biohazard RE for it to show up. Doesn't really make sense Quote

Doesn't really make sense Yeah, thats why we have a value for alternate names in the database, exactly for times like this when there are two games with the same name on the same platform, and the alternate name on the database page is, Biohazard :RE 2 Quote

mancmacca Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 this is still not working from steam scrape Quote
lishremix Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Just ran into this as well from the Steam import. Manually searching "Biohazard RE:2" is not working either. Quote

Start with Tools < Download < Force Update Games Database Metadata... (just to be sure) Then edit the game and type in "Biohazard RE:2" and press enter. Select the game "Resident Evil 2 (Remake)" (If need be, 1st click the red X to clear the current LBDB ID# ) In the left panel, click Alternate Names. Select "Biohazard RE:2". In the bottom middle of that window click Set Selected Name as Title. Click OK to save and close. 1 Quote
lishremix Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Thank you for the tips! The problem I was having is that from the Steam scraped Launchbox record, after clearing the LB DB ID, searching "Biohazard RE:2" only returned the 1998 game. I tried search all 3 Alternate titles for the RE2 Remake from the Launchbox DB entry. I ended up trying to search "Resident Evil 2 (Remake)" in the "Manually Add Game" dialog. That did find the remake. I then copied over the Steam URL from the original record over to the Application Path of the new record. Everything looks good now. We'll see what happens when I'm ready to install it. 😬 I appreciate the quick response! 1 Quote
