ELanz10
As a long-term project, I built an arcade cabinet using the Xtension kit and hardware and a custom PC. It has been a fun ride while trying to get this working. I’m using Big Box as my front end and really love the presentation. Over time, I intend to add more and more bells and whistles. One of these days I will properly wire my coin slots. For now, I have been stonewalled by the Bezel Project. I set it up in MAME and it works great. I also set it up in Retroarch for some consoles (NES, SNES Genesis), but they are not working. I initially noticed that the file names didn’t match, so I grabbed a no intro SNES set and imported them to LaunchBox, but the bezels still aren’t working. I assume this is an issue inside my Retroarch settings, but I have come up empty so far. I recall turning the bezel option on, but no dice. Does anyone know of anything else I can check? I recently got Golden Tee Fore 2005 running on my setup, but there is no bezel displayed. The bezel shows the shot information, so it is critical. I figured I would check for a bezel file, but I couldn’t find them anywhere in my MAME directory. Does anyone know where those files are stored? Thanks! The bezel project retroarch bezels are only compaible with certain cores out of the box, if you are using a different core there will be some manual work for you. There is a bezel project thread on the forums here somewhere with some pointers.

ELanz10
Thank you! I have done most of the stuff recommended on the first few pages, but will finish reading the posts later today.
ELanz10
Sadly, I went through the thread with no luck. My cfg files appear to be mapping correctly but the bezels don’t appear. I installed the bezels using the .exe on the github page. Oddly enough, the arcade bezels work great.
dragon57
@ELanz10 I am a member of The Bezel Project and would gladly try to help, if I can. First off, the Windows installer on Github is slightly out of date, so I recommend you using my newer installer. It is in beta, but works great for most. You can read about it in the bezel project thread linked above. The direct link for my installer can be found here: Please let me know which exact Retroarch cores you are using and what version of Retroarch itself and I'll try to get you sorted. ELanz10
Thank you! Cores used: snes9x_libretro quicknes_libretro genesis_plus_gx_libretro pcsx_rearmed_libretro My Retroarch is version 1.7.7. I will also look at the installer you referenced.

Those cores should be supported by the installer. If you still have issues after trying the beta installer, please post a pic of your Retroarch config folder and its contents. ELanz10
thank you. As a test, I used the installer for SNES but did not have any success. I should add that when I load a rom, I get a configuration override message. Not sure what file is doing the override. Here is that config folder you asked for. Just as a test, please move all the directories and cfg files that start with snes out of the config directory. Try to reinstall the SNES bezels and see if the behavior changes. Also, are you using a custom command line for your Retroarch cores in LaunchBox? If so, what does that look like?
ELanz10
I removed all directories and files related to SNES from my config folder and then reran the installer. Still not getting anything. I still get that configuration override notice in the bottom left when I load a rom file. I don’t use any special command line instructions. After moving the snes directories and cfg files from config and before running the bezel installer, do you still get the override message if you fire up Retroarch? If so, we need to figure out what is causing the override.
ELanz10
That’s accurate. Definitely Retroarch-specific because MAME is working well.
dragon57
All I can think of at this point is create a new Retroarch install directory that has no mods or changes to it. Try to install one set of bezels and see if you are successful. If so, we can narrow down differences from there.
ELanz10
Did a fresh build of RetroArch on a different drive. Only installed SNES 9x and then installed SNES bezels. It was successful. What’s the recommended next step? Do I overwrite my Retroarch directory on the C drive with this fresh build?
ELanz10
I used the new Retroarch to build and setup my emulators with bezels in the following order: SNES Genesis NES Playstation Sega 32X Bezels for SNES and Genesis working fine. NES ones always open with Donkey Kong Country (which was the first SNES rom I tested). PlayStation also opens with Donkey Kong Country bezel. 32X appears to work properly. Looks like I am close to having this solved. Thanks!

dragon57
Neil9000 is probably on to something. Also, if some bezel packs are working and some not, you probably have a naming mismatch between the roms and the cfg files provided with the pack. If so, you can use either one of the popular bulk renaming utilities, or find a rom pack with standard naming.

Yeah that sounds likely also, you use no-intro naming right? so if a system romset is from another set the names may not match.

Yep, No-Intro naming. Having said that, the bezels are done at a point in time, and there are times when the latest no-intro dat file has changes to naming, so matching things up is always a moving target.
