Kevin_Flynn
I'm asking because I am experiencing significant lag using both Launchbox and Bigbox over the network, to the point where it corrupts the image caching (and possibly other data). PC: Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Memory: G.SKILL 32GB 3800 MHZ GPU: GeForce RTX 2080 TI Network: Realtek 2.5GbE Disk: SSD 960 PRO M.2 2TB Home Server: CPU: AMD Threadripper 2950X Memory: 128 GB ECC Network: 10GbE Disk: SSD 860 EVO 4TB x 6 Connection is LAN and wired. Average read and write speed is 200 mb/s. Without saying, this drops significantly for large number of small files. Am I right to think that Launchbox should be local and to only store the emulators and roms on the network? Edit: Secondly, if people are not using Launchbox over the network, how are you synching it across multiple machines? Rsync, Deltacopy, (software) etc.? fromlostdays
I'm not very savvy with networks, but just from my own general knowledge, I would certainly store launchbox locally, since the entire user experience centers around it, and because it's having to pull a massive amount of files; art, images, videos, xmls etc. I would probably also store the emulators locally, as they are small in terms of space. Roms I would think you could get away with over the network as all you're risking is a little load time. But do take what I say with a grain of salt here. I think @DOS76 uses a network?
DOS76
I only keep my ROMs on the network all my instances of LB and all emulators are local to the specific machine. I don't sync either since due to hardware differences I find I'd rather do individual setup of them. There are those that sync LB between different machines but off the top of my head I can't recall what they are using.
