What Happened To Our Local Arcades?

This weekend I went to what used to be the largest arcade in the city. When I was a teen I spent entire weekends there. Wall to wall cabinets of classic and modern games, pinball machines, and a small row of claw machines and prize games. But when I walked into this same arcade a couple days ago I could count on one hand the number of arcade cabinets in the entire building, none of them classics. A couple sit down shooters, a couple sit down driving games, Terminator Salvation, and dozens of prize machines, rigged to the max. Parents that would camp out in the sit downs without playing so they could sit and watch their kids play the adjoining game. Understandable, but when someone politely asks if you're playing and you stare at them for a couple seconds and won't move? That just sucks. It has gotten to the point where my home arcade is more fun than the commercial arcade, and that is probably the reason they are in such decline. Sad.

Consoles and computers killed the arcades plus 50 cents to a dollar to play - forget that.

I would suggest throwing a party at Chuck E Cheese - they let you play all the games no quarters needed.

That pinball place looks awesome too. I would tell Jack Black about it he'd probably go there and film for his Youtube Channel
