GamerMTL
Hi, Can anyone tell me which emulator I should use with my Colecovision games in Launchbox. Originally I tried with RetroArch, but it wouldn't work, like it does for my Nintendo games. If there is a tutorial "preferably with ETA Prime" that would be awesome. Thanks! Lordmonkus
Colecoviosion needs bios files for any emulators that I have used. BlueMSX is the standalone that works very well and to get the RA core version to work you need the \machines folder from BlueMSX placed in the Retroarch\system folder for it to work. Mame also does a very good job of emulating Colecovision and that needs a bios file as well but its a different one.
GamerMTL
So I have a folder with the games but not sure where to get this bios file from. There happens to be one file called BIOS Colecovision (USA,Europe) in this folder, but once again, I'm a bit new at this...so would you be able to guide me a bit? Lordmonkus
If you are using Retroarch and the Colecovision core you need to download and install BlueMSX, then just copy the machines folder from that over to your Retroarch\system folder. If you are using Mame it's a bit more tricky, you need the correct coleco.zip file with the correct files inside of it.

neil9000
You might need to set the core to the correct platform first, its usually set to MSX by default, or at least it used to be, i havent used it in a while.
GamerMTL
So i went into Launchbox to edit emulator, i ticked on making the default emulator for my Colecovision. Tells me missing core file? Is this the problem? Still couldn't get it to start...hope I'm getting there! LOL!!
Lordmonkus
Did you download the core ? If you did you may have to restart LB or possibly even your PC. Also make sure your platform name where you have your games imported is named correctly to match the platform name in the Associated Platforms. GamerMTL
Hey thanks for all the help...may I ask where or what exactly is the name of this core? Sorry man...I know through Launchbox, I usually install it well. I'm just not really strong on all these terminologies

Lordmonkus
Do your games work through Retroarch on its own ?
GamerMTL
Not sure never tried it that way, I think I will reinstall launchbox and see where it goes from there.
Lordmonkus
Yeah always get your games working in the emulator first, it helps a lot with troubleshooting.
