Retroarch Flycast and Typing of the Dead problems [SOLVED]

Hi

Quite a specific game issue here.
I'm trying to get Typing of the Dead working on flycast. I set my controller to "keyboard" and it gets stuck on the Now Checking... screen. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be this simple, but maybe I'm missing something here.

probably looking for the dreamcast keyboard, not your PC one.

I followed the video Libretro put out on their youtube channel:

It's rather odd. Anyone else able to check if it works on theirs?

I figured it out. 

Turns out that it seems like it was checking for a VMU to save in and not the keyboard.
To make it work make sure that in the Options --> Per-Game VMU is set to "All VMUs".

I dont understand this and I dont know how to get it to work.

The keyboard still acts as the Retroarch hit keys. How do I disable that temporarily to play this game?

Press F8 to toggle game focus.
