dpc5555
Hi - Since yesterday, Launchbox has been giving me some display issues (see attached pic). It launches like this and I have no access to any options and cannot see my library. The issue happened randomly; nothing that I recall led to the problem. I tried re-installing both of the last two updates, but after the installation, it continues to look like this. Is there a cache somewhere that I need to clear or data somewhere that I should delete to rebuild the dashboard? Thanks
DOS76
delete your settings.xml and it will make a new one with default settings on the next launch.
Retro808
Just remove the Settings.xml from your \Launchbox\Data folder. Then inside you \Launchbox\backups folder open one of the recent backup zipped folders and copy the settings.xml file from within that zip into the \Launchbox\Data folder. If everything returns to normal you can delete the corrupted one you moved out from there to begin with.
dpc5555
Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I followed the directions but my screen still looks like the pic above. Any other ideas of what may be causing this?

dpc5555
Yes - first I tried just deleting the settings.xml. Then tried pulling the settings.xml from a backup that was about a week old and replacing the current file. I further tried re-installing an older version of launchbox after doing the above. I'm stumped
dpc5555
I've tried installing a new version of the program on a different drive. The new blank database launches fine, but if I try to add one of my backups to the data folder, the program fails to launch (I can see it on my task manager, but it doesn't appear to start). The backup I'm using is from before the problem started.

It is possible one of the backups could be corrupted, but deleting it and letting LB generate a new one should rectify. Try copying the one from the new folder into the original build's folder. dpc5555
I managed to get the original installation running again. Doing so required me to delete everything in the data folder and restart the program, causing it to revert back to defaults. I then re-added the data from a backup. I'm thinking the original problem posted above may have been due to a corrupted theme. I was using "Old Default". It is currently running now with the main default option. Oddly, I was unable to get the new installation on my second drive to ever load. It would load if the data folder was completely blank, but if I added any data from a backup, it would simply hang on trying to start (show up in task manager, but never boot). This is somewhat concerning if I would ever wanted to completely reinstall.
