Big Box Lagging and Stuttering

Recently upgraded some parts in my computer and whenever I run Big Box all of the transition effects and videos lag and stutter. So far I've tried to update/reinstall drivers, update windows, reinstall launchbox, and even completely reinstall windows. I can't seem to find anything on the forms here and anywhere else and its really annoying because I have a pretty decent computer and big box runs like crap on it. I absolutely love launchbox and its big box feature and it sucks that it doesn't work right now. If anyone has any suggestions on how I might be able to go about fixing this I would be extremely appreciative.

 

My Specs:

• Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 5700 XT BE 8GB GDDR6 PCIe 4.0 Card
• amd ryzen 5 3600
• corsair 750 watt sfx platinum power supply
• ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming AMD AM4 (3rd Gen Ryzen Mini-ITX SFF Gaming Motherboard (PCIe 4.0, WiFi 6, 2.5Gb LAN, DDR4 5100+ (O.C.), Front USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Addressable Gen 2 RGB and Aura Sync)
• Windows installed on a Samsung 980 pro m.2 500gb

Old thread, I know, but I still have the same experience. I have recently bought a high end PC with one of the fastest Intel CPUs, DDR5 ram and only SSD storage, no HDDs and sadly, Bigbox runs basically the same as on my 10 year old, much weaker PC. The start up time is now much faster, which is awesome, but the videos just take way too long to show up.

Example: Once the voice says "initializing BigBox", it takes around 10 seconds until the first platform category video starts playing and then when I go around all the platform categories, the videos take forever to change. So if I am on "consoles" and move up to "computer systems" for the first time, the console video still plays for another 10 seconds before the computer systems video starts. When switching to "handhelds", the transition is a bit faster. It seems to depend on how many games are imported. Computer Systems is the largest platform category, so it takes the longest.

Oddly, once I have gone through all of the platform categories once, the transitions are instantaneous the second time.

The same thing happens with all the platforms inside the platform categores and also on the level of individual games, but it's much less noticeable, because a single platform does not have as many games a platform category. The change is instantaneous, but the videos / transitions will lag / stutter a bit.

I have no idea why this is. I thought it might be because of the video player, so I switched from VLC to WMP, but the issue persists.

I must add that because of all the computer systems I have integrated, I have almost 300.000 games in Launchbox / BigBox. I guess BigBox struggles with these unreasonably massive collections.

I'm kind of curious if it's a platform or playlist issue. One thing you could try is to first completely close LaunchBox. Then head into your LaunchBox\Data\Playlists folder. Temporarily move everything out of this folder to a safe location on your PC.

Now, open up Big Box and see if that made any difference at all.

Don't forget to do the reverse to get your playlists back.

I'll make sure to try that, although I don't really have many auto-generated playlists.
