MapleLeaf
If I don't scrape EMUMovies when I first set up LB, I assume there's a way to go back and do this after the install? How does EMUMovies work exactly with LB? Do I need a paid subscription to scrape a large rom set library? I think I'm restricted to about 10GB per day with the free account and I need a paid membership to get a key for LB?
kmoney
Yes you can always go back and scrape from emumovies at any time after the install. In my opinion you would be better off getting a paid subscription to emumovies since 10GB will be used up fairly quickly downloading videos for a large collection. I was not aware that they offered 10gb per day with a free account but you do need a emumovies account in order to download from LaunchBox. That free downloads quota only applies to the website and only for the lowest quality videos, it does not apply to Launchbox at all. Launchbox will download images with a free emumovies account, but you can only download music, manuals, and videos with a paid subscription. MapleLeaf
I assume whatever you scrape from Emumovies--music, manuals, videos and so forth--goes into various LB folders. Example: LaunchBox\Videos\Arcade etc. a.) Is there a way to roughly estimate how much storage this is going to consume when I'm scraping 2768 titles? I kinda wanted to set this up over night while I'm asleep, but not if It's going to cripple my HDD storage. b.) Is there any artwork/metadata overlap between what LB scrapes by itself and what Emumovies scrapes if I run the Emumovies scraper later on? Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to know that beforehand. To give you a rough direction I would guess for so many games you’re in for 15GB to 20GB alone for the videos (if you get the high-quality ones), even way more if you decide to download video themes as well. Images are hard to say because the file sizes and numbers of images can widely differ from game to game. b. EmuMovies doesn’t provide Metadata and the LaunchBox database doesn’t offer Music, Manuals and Videos. If you just download those 3 media types from EmuMovies (requires premium) and get the rest from the LaunchBox database you won’t get any duplicates. You can also use the Audit tool to sort your games by missing media and only download the specific media types from EmuMovies for the games that are missing something. MapleLeaf
In case anyone was wondering... Between LB and Emumovies (paid account) they scraped 64 GB worth of content (2768 total games).
