reflex33
I'll start this off by saying I'm one of the completionist people. I try to (every now and then) download the latest dat file for some platform and update my roms, and also ensure I have everything. When I do this, does any one have a method for how to go about updating to ensure everything lines up in lunchbox (meaning the rooms, media, etc)? I have tried first scanning for removed roms and then scanning for new roms... but this misses games for some reason. I haven't been able to trust this process. I posted this a while back and got no responses ( Instead, I decided to delete the whole platform and re-import. However this seems to be REALLY slow right now. I started with Atari 2600, which is roughly 600 games. I set it for the stock settings for images and movies, but turned off the "similar image scan" feature for now. It's been going for about an hour now is at file 156 of 5761... at this rate this is going to take MONTHS to update the platforms I have. There has to be a better way. xevious1974
I try to reply. I hope I have understood. When I re/import a platform I usually disable the image dl, it is a faster way. Then I check for media and I start to download. When I have reimported mame rom set, for the letter 0-I it was quite fast to dl new images, video and so on. I have added now about 50 Gamecube roms and it has dled all in few minutes (LB and emumovies, complete all) Anyway, it is happened also to me to have some rom "missed" during import process. But talking here on forum I have discovered that I was importing not all togheter but dividing in parts, that can create some problems. Maybe a rom has 2 different names and you import the first one, then LB see it like duplicate during the second import phase. Importing all togheter resolve this. Hope that can helps, sorry if it doesnt help
reflex33
Ok half false alarm... What I learned today... if you have the platform selected while images/videos are downloading in the background, the downloads will go SUPER slow. It seems to be updating the UI after each image is downloaded. Still not sure on the best way to achieve the completionist update, but progress.
C-Beats
What version of LaunchBox are you running? Over the past few versions downloads code has been heavily modified to help improve speed and stability so if you aren't on 12.11 I'd recommend upgrading before trying to download large amounts of media. I'm on 12.11 Yeah it is a huge difference once I figured out that you shouldn't have the platform selected while downloading.
maabus
@reflex33 I made a tool that will check your LB platform, and your rom folder and check if there is anything different between the two. I keep my systems up to date with no-intro. Games are constantly being removed, added and their names changed. My tool will show you which roms are just in either in LB or the rom folder, and what games are named differently than what the rom file has. It can also rename your LB games based on the rom file name. Not sure if this is something you would be interested in, but I'd be happy to share it with you.
