Questions about missing Media in launchbox

Hi everyone,

I have a question about missing media in Launchbox.  Maybe this would be a new feature and if so please let me know but wanted to ask first.  I have scrapped my media, used all resources (internally, and emumovies etc.).  I have also done some of the renaming of media to help find missing artwork.  Question is this:

  • In Launchbox if I select say "Front box Images" and some artwork is missing (that I just cannot find) can launchbox see this and say of I see if you have a clear logo for this and use that a secondary image to fill the spot? Some as you know have certain media missing.  Is there a backup image that can auto determine this?  I know I can put the image in the folder manually.
  • Also, I know I can hide missing games that don't have the images.  I know I can highlight each and do an edit to find media.  Instead of highlighting thru the collection say "Arcade" for example, can I click on something in the settings that will just show all games that are missing images? Basically, the reverse of the hide.  I only want to see the games without images, so basically hide temporarily the games that have images.  I hope I explained it ok.  Just trying to get my collection cleaned up.  Looking for ideas or if this is a new idea, I am not sure.

You can do this by setting your image group priorities and adding more image types to the group in question. For example you could add "Clear Logo" to the "Box Front" group and if then if all the other image types aren't found it'll fallback to the clear logo. You also can set platform level fallbacks but then any item missing media in that platform would have the same image drawn.

And if you just want to find which images are missing from an image group there is the audit tool.

Can also use the sidebar filter labeled "Games Missing Media" and then select the image group that you are wanting to look at. Typically if that's all you care about it's the faster option
